QUICK HITS
- This season marked the latest calendar date that WT has ever started the season. The
previous latest was November 28, 1987 when Bob Schneider led then West Texas State to
a 75-52 victory over MSU-Denver at “The Box”. WTSU would go on to finish the season 33-1
overall with an appearance in the NCAA Division II National Championship Game.
- WT’s 16 blocked shots on Tuesday night against OBU tied a single-game program record (vs.
East Central / January 14, 2006). It also ties WT’s single-game Lone Star Conference record.
- Tuesday marked the 12th time in Abby Spurgin’s career that the senior registered atleast five
blocks in a game, it was also the 43rd time in her career that she led WT in blocks
- Spurgin’s seven blocks is tied for third most by a Division II women’s student-athlete so far
during the 2020-21 season. The 16 team blocks is the most by a DII team (men or women) in a
game this season.
- The Lady Buffs tied a season-high with 21 forced turnovers on Tuesday night
- Hightower has moved into 12th on WT’s all-time scoring list (1,376) as she passed former All-
American Sasha Watson (2013-17). She is currently just 15 points behind Debbie Webb (1,391 |
1974-78) for 11th all-time.
