The fourth revolution. The fifth K wave. The postdigital world. Radical disruptive innovation. Cats and dogs living together. It is the end of the world as we know it, isn’t it? Maybe not. Maybe there’s another way to look at it. For once, we haven’t changed much in the past two hundred thousand years. If we consider these past three decades from a systemic, socio-technical perspective over a longer period, we can trace three major lines of change: how postmodernism has ceased to be the cultural dominant, how digital has been seeping into the physical world, and how our interactions with digital have become embodied. Using these as our signposts, we’ll discuss continuity in design as a better cultural fit than disruption, the ethical and political implications of “making”, how design always breeds consequences, the nature and role of design in the age of social media and climate change, and how designing for the future we want might ultimately be a complicated proposition.

Questo tema tratta di un argomento che è ancora poco conosciuto e dibattuto nel nostro paese nonostante le tantissime denunce di migliaia di donne e ragazze con disabilità che vivono situazioni di discriminazione, ogni giorno, in ogni aspetto della loro vita, la salute, il lavoro, lo studio, la sessualità e il riconoscimento della propria femminilità. La discriminazione multipla che le donne con disabilità subiscono e vivono quotidianamente è molto difficile da contrastare, perché non dipende solo da stereotipi e pregiudizi culturali ma anche dall’inadeguatezza dei servizi del territorio che a volte sono inaccessibili. Perché siamo abituati a lavorare per settori e per ambiti delimitati non abbiamo una visione sistemica, ogni persona è unica e ha bisogno di un ascolto differente. Questo talk ci vuole far riflettere in modo profondo sul tema della violenza di genere delle donne con disabilità, e sull’enorme sforzo che come prassi e ricerca con l’aiuto delle istituzioni pubbliche del mondo dell’associazionismo va ancora molto presidiato e sviluppato per dare sempre più voce e consapevolezza ad un tema ancora molto poco conosciuto.

Environmental sustainability, eco-efficiency, and eco-efficacy are mainly driven by technological innovations, economic and political models. Nevertheless – as shown by a growing body of research - the social goals related to environmental sustainability can be fully achieved only taking into consideration lay public perception and the interaction between human beings and their physical surroundings (both natural and artificial). Thus, the talk aims to show as a psychological perspective might be crucial to change attitudes toward environmental issues and to promote pro-environmental endeavors at individual and social levels. Furthermore, psychology could suggest 'tricks' to communicate more effectively on these topics and to devise proper interventions.

Veniamo noi stessi inclusi come risorsa di valore per le caratteristiche dei nostri processi di pensiero, e diventiamo parte di un sistema di cognizione distribuito, insieme a tutte le altre entità socio-tecniche, per strutturare un’esperienza evolutiva riflessiva globale.

Mark Morris Dance Group’s Dance for PD® program uses the training and techniques of professional dance to improve the lives of Parkinson’s sufferers. Founded in 2001, the program was an immediate success and, by 2014, classes were being taught in more than 80 countries around the world. But Program Director David Leventhal wanted to deepen that reach and allow participants to use Dance for PD’s powerful tools outside of the classroom and in their daily lives. Working with a grant from Google, Dance for PD enlisted Manhattan-based digital agency SS+K to develop Moving Through Glass, the first-ever augmented reality application providing round-the-clock aid for people living with Parkinson’s. Kevin Skobac, SVP of Digital Strategy at SS+K, and Executive Producer Craig von Wiederhold will discuss the design and development of Moving Through Glass through the lens of a key ‘re-learning’ the unique project afforded them: the core of great usability design is always empathy.

Insieme a Serena Ruffato, CEO di Tooteko, sta sperimentando una tecnologia che permette a non vedenti e ipovedenti di apprezzare l’arte attraverso il tatto e l’udito. Tooteko è un anello in grado di riconoscere speciali sensori NFC all’interno di modelli tridimensionali di opere d’arte e farne corrispondere su smartphone o tablet informazioni audio. Grazie a Tooteko l’arte diventa un patrimonio accessibile a TUTTI.

In un mondo popolato da 50 miliardi di device connessi, la sfida più grossa sarà progettare un’esperienza “umanamente” sostenibile. Per riuscirci la sola tecnologia non è sufficiente, è necessario mettere insieme competenze diverse. Esperti di user experience, data scientist, esperti di machine learning e sviluppatori devono lavorare insieme per un progresso tecnologico capace di arricchire la vita delle persone col minimo impatto in termini di sforzo cognitivo.
