Telecoms/Satellite Engineer/ Senior Team Manager
In my time at Kelly Communications I worked my way up from a satellitefield engineer on the Hughes Project installingfor
the National Lottery, moving onto the Openreach project first as an installation engineer to then become a Team Manager,
I was Responsiblefor managing a team of 20-30 engineers based in the Manchester, Mersey, Lancashireand Cumbria areas
of the North West. My Duties included,making sureengineer’s hit the targets set by monitoringtheir productivity,
complaints and completion rates.
Health and safety is key and on sitedaily checks aredone to make sureall engineers areadhering to and complyingwith
Health and Safety Procedures,
After justover a year as team manager, I was aligned into an Area Managers position dueto my drive and commitment, I
overlook the operation and guide the managers where needed to ensure all targets aremet on performance.
My team consists of 7 Team Managers and approx.150 engineers stretching from the midlands up through the North West
to the boarders of Scotland.
From the delivery of the day to day jobs to brakingdown the “raw “data into a format the team mangers can use through
MicrosoftExcel amongst other programs, This includes quality and health and safety reports. I also havethe roleof making
sure the North west/North Midlands area has sufficientresourceto cope with the client’s demands. Monitor the P & L
reports and complete the weekly wages ensuringall relevantpayments are met.
Duringmy time with the Kelly Group I was asked to assiston a new contractwhich the group had obtained, with Vodafone
being the client,in this short time I learntmany things regardingthe fibre network and the supply of direct fibreto both
homes and business. I learntthe technical understandingof both how fibre works as wel l as the network infrastructureof
Vodafone, one of the key skills learnton this projectwas the importance of meeting deadlines in regards to serviceand
delivery and the business implications to the clientand the company when these deadlines arenot met.
