Dear Community Leader,
The Exchange Club of Fort Bend is making plans for its fifth annual Duck Golf
Classic to be held on Monday, October 21, 2013. The success of this event is
credited largely to our sponsors, who lend their names and financial support to
the event.
The money we raise each year goes to support the Fort Bend County
community, and this year’s goal to raise $50,000 dollars will help our club
continue its programs in the area of Prevention of Child Abuse,
Americanism, Youth, and Community Service.
By participating as a sponsor, your organization will benefit from exposure
through media campaigns and promotional efforts directed toward the
supporters of the Exchange Club of Fort Bend. We have many levels of
sponsorship, as detailed on the enclosed sponsorship commitment form. You
can select the level of participation that best meets your needs, knowing your
sponsorship fee will be used to help many noteworthy needs, programs and
activities in our community.
We're counting on your support, and will be happy to answer any questions
you may have. Please complete and return your sponsorship commitment
form or submit online at www.fortbendexchange.org.
Thank you in advance for your willingness to support the efforts of the
Exchange Club of Fort Bend and for making a difference in our community.
Sincerely,
Crissy Nolen John Healey

WHAT WE DO AND WHY WE DO IT
Our Exchange Club, The Exchange Club
of Fort Bend, performs services under four
categories:
•The Prevention of Child Abuse
•Community Service
•Service to Youth
•The Promotion of Americanism
You may ask the question as to each of
our activities, “Why do you serve?”.
Here’s why.
Service Category & Activity Why We Serve
1. “The Shaken Baby Syndrome” is an
educational program in which we go
into high schools and teach young
adults about the injuries which can
result from shaking a baby.
To ensure that an unknown number
of infants can develop into healthy
adults.
2. We make monetary donations to the
ESCAPE Family Resource Center.
To counsel parents so they can
avoid abusing their children.
3. We donate teddy bears to a family court.
On child adoption day, they are given to
the adopted children.
To give youngsters one more
happy memory and cuddly symbol
of the day they began their new life.
4. We promote April as National Child
Abuse Prevention Month, by placing
two awareness fields of blue ribbons
in highly visible areas in our
community.
To remind citizens of their
responsibility to fight the war
against child abuse.
THE PREVENTION OF CHILD ABUSE
Service Category & Activity Why We Serve
1. We bring cake and ice cream to a
Seniors’ Assisted Living Center and
hold monthly birthday parties.
To let those who raised and
mentored our generation know that
they are not forgotten.
2. We join other clubs in holding an annual
luncheon to honor Fort Bend County
police officers.
To show our appreciation to those
who each day jeopardize their lives
and safety to safeguard ours.
3. Santa’s Exchange: We join with other
clubs to provide Christmas gifts to
underprivileged children.
To bring a smile to a child’s face on
Christmas morning.
4. We help to host a Christmas party for
residents of the Richmond State
Supported Living Center.
To bring Christmas cheer to our
brothers and sisters with
developmental disabilities.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
Service Category & Activity Why We Serve
1. We recognize extraordinary
scholastic and extracurricular
achievement in high school youth
with Youth of the Month Awards.
To reward and encourage the best
of our youth so that they can serve
others.
2. We recognize good deeds and character
in our middle school youth with Young
Citizenship Awards.
To teach our youth that it is more
important to be a good person than
it is to be a smart person.
3. We recognize a high school senior
who has overcome severe adversity
with our Accepting the Challenge of
Excellence Award (A.C.E.).
To reward the courage of a
triumphant young adult.
4. Champion’s Kids Camp: We sponsor
and volunteer for a week-long
summer camp and a Christmas party
for children who have faced great
adversity.
To help instill a sense of pride in
every child and let them know that
they’re not victims, they’re
survivors, and therefore,
Champions!
SERVICE TO YOUTH
Service Category & Activity Why We Serve
1. We give children small American flags
to wave at local parades.
To instill pride for our country in
children.
2. We celebrate Veterans Day by
assembling with veterans for a
“One Nation Under God” breakfast.
To honor those who were willing to
make the supreme sacrifice.
3. We display in community buildings,
replicas of 28 great writings which
shaped our society, known as
“The Freedom Shrine”.
To perpetuate the awareness that
the United States of America is the
greatest country on earth.
AMERICANISM
WHAT WE DO AND WHY WE DO IT
In summary, to answer the question, “What is
Exchange,” we Exchangites will tell you that it
is America’s Service Club. As to why we serve,
we Exchangites will tell you that it is because
we are called to serve.
