Activities
We went to the city center at 14:00 and met the other members of the team.
There we did activities like seat build up and shifting of the material from
here and there, moving blocks, fixing the pillars.
We then passed to team building games such as:
The telephone - it's an interesting game where one person says something to
the ear of the person standing in the right, in his/her own language. It was a
language exchange game and it's always intriguing to speak different
languages. This is the beauty of intercultural difference.
The world we want to live in
We made three groups where all together had the chance to take the time
and think how would the world look like if we had a chance to build
something on our own. The beauty of this activity is to see that we are so
busy in our lives and never stop and think what we are actually looking for.
So it was very interesting to think of the world as we actually wanted to live
in.

ROMANIA > BAIA MARE > Sights
We went there in the morning. The scenery is great, evergreen and deciduous
forest around the lake and surrounding hills close the horizon. Located very
close to the city of Baia Mare and near the road to Izvoare resort, it was an
good choice for an oasis of peace and fresh air. We did hiking, swimming
and boating there. It was really mesmerizing. Some of us played cards and
badminton. It was great to sit in the shades of trees and have some self
reflection along with a great company. It was healthy trip and a great day.
We met with Andreea (our mentor). We played a game after introduction. It
was called "within the circle and out of circle". Here we write about the most
important things for us and then about those that are not important, but still
somehow part of us. This was a great game to have a look at ourselves and
know what actually we are looking for because usually we don’t stop and
think about what we really want in life. So it was a direction game towards
life and of course a great way to learn about ourselves.

We went in the morning to the Butchers' Tower, where a 3D map of the old
city was laying in front of us. Our coordinator told us the history of the place,
Baia Mare. There we read about its history along with old photos of the city.
It was mesmerizing and very knowledgeable at the same time.
Then we went to the Stephen Tower, from where we had a beautiful view of
the whole city and surroundings.
We played a game known as the "Cow game" (Zakdoekje leggen) then we
have some name games and ice breaking games as well to get to know each
other even more.
Cultural nights of Turkey and Venezuela: We dance on their traditional music.
They arranged quizzes to have more cultural knowledge exchange.

Activities
We went to the field at 10:00, where we took off the banners, unpinned the
pillars, put the sand in the plastic bags and moved it to the center of the
field. We spread water on the sand to lower the sand temperature and to be
easier for us to work. Then a part of us went to clean the volunteers' room till
lunch time.
We met again the center in the afternoon and continued to prepare the field
for beach volleyball (from a beach handball court). We moved the sand to the
appropriate place and built the borders along the boundary. We tied the
pillars, packed the excess sand in the plastic bags and leveled the sand, and
prepared the net in the center.
Before we finished the work at the court, we played some names games to
have a better understanding of each other as new volunteers have joined us.
We had a cultural night. The presentations were mainly of two countries and
today were India and Peru. We did several activities in the cultural night like
memory games. A cultural dance was the most prominent along with the
quiz to have more knowledge exchange between different countries.

We went to the field in the morning and continue the work we did the other
day. We dragged the sand to the middle and cleaned the boundaries.
We had a healthy discussion with our facilitators, where we were asked why
we choose this sport volunteer program and why we are here in Romania.
We then divided the people in four groups, with two groups for discussing
"What should we do in a sport events as volunteers" and the other two go on
"What shouldn't we do in a sport events as volunteers".

13. What would we do if we were to have an emergency situations like a fire,
electric hazard, medical emergency or storm.
We divided into groups and discussed these topics, then presented them and
discussed them in the big group, having as well inputs from the
coordinators. Along with the safety measures we also talked about the rules
and regulations.
We practiced all the emergency measures, and had a little demo to know
what we will immediately do in case of any bad situation occurred.
In the afternoon we went to the city center to the court and played a bit
volleyball. We then received our volunteering kits, received our tasks and had
a demo of the tasks assigned to everyone.
We ended the evening with some ice breaking games.

15. We came to the court at 8:30 to do the final touches and prepare the field as
the first match was at 9:30.
The main tasks for us on the court were as score keepers, photo or video
teams, social media and promotion, logistics, getting the balls, public
animation or live broadcasting.
The second part of the competition finished at 14:30 with a female match,
then the make matches were disputed.
The animators came in the second shift and they were in charge of having
the people around happy and making the competition emotional.
After a total of 16 match during the day, the first day is over.

17. The second day was very much alike the first one, having the same tasks for
us to do. Some rotated around the positions but mainly we remained in the
same positions.
The morning started very intense because it was raining a lot for 5 matches
consecutive. That made the work even harder.
Again we had 16 matches of both female and male, and compared to the
first day where, if having lost one match they would have still got the chance
to continue the competition on the loosing side, today it was already
different as the losing team was eliminated for good.
As the teams left the competition, they received their participation diplomas
and were invited to take photos at the official panel.

19. The last day of the tournament was here and although we had less matches,
the working programme was still intense due to the emotions brought by the
finals and the ending ceremony.
We continued with the same tasks, however our shifts today were shorter as
we were all wanted for the finals and ceremony.
The finals, a demo match and the ceremony were the way to finish the
competition day or so we thought, but then we had a small ceremony for the
volunteers too.

Last day for some of the volunteers, so every goodbye is hard. Almost 3 weeks
spent with a lot pf people and a tournament with a lot of challenge are over.
For that last day the association gave us certificates, we did some evaluation
about how we felt these last days and how do we feel about the ending of the
tournament.
We made some drawings of our self and made cards for the friends who went
back to their homes.
Now we are less but the adventure continue for 11 volunteers for 2 weeks more.
22. We went again to the lake in the morning only this time with a different purpose.
Baia Mare has many historical churches, is surrounded by hills and is positioned
close to the Firiza Lake. Many inhabitants of this city storm the lake on lazy
afternoons and weekends. The lake never gets overcrowded though, because not
many people outside Baia Mare know of the lake’s existence. It is easy to see
why, when searching for the lake. If you don’t look at the street signs, you can
easily drive past it and not even know. Those who are attentive can only catch
glimpses of Firiza Lake through thickly spread conifers, and only because the
sunlight sends sparkles of reflected light from the lake through the trees.
Getting there was easy. We took bus no. 1 and went straight there. Our task of
today, in addition of enjoying the time in the nature, was to pick up the trash as
there are several paths through the forest which take you to the lake, most of
which have parking spaces at the main road. So we went there with garbage bags
and gloves, and picked up the trask and cleaned the area. It was a healthy way to
do little social work and to develop a habit to be more Eco-friendly. It’s very
important to protect these green spaces that are so precious for the community,
as well as the water it holds. We collected numerous bags of waste that the
people who go to lake Firiza leave behind. It’s important to keep these places
clean to increase awareness about the importance of this. When you see a clean
space, it’s harder to leave your trash behind!

schedule for the last two weeks. Two teams were divided: one will be responsible
for the activities and the other is going to take charge of the media department.
Those members in the activity section will organize sports among various people
or children and will do presentations and promotions. Those in the media section
will go around the city in sport clubs, etc, and will take the answers of the local
people, players or children about their perspective about sports. We all prepared

26. The team in sport activity arranged a short competition between the local players
of Baia Mare in the evening on the field from 17B Moldovei. The games were
mainly Badminton and Ping Pong. As ping-pong is widely played in most countries
of the world, almost every house and middle school have outdoor ping pong
tables.
We also interviewed our players, such as Gökay, as he is a former professional
basketball player at Efes and an ESC volunteer here in Baia Mare. He is now also
interested in swimming, football and volleyball.
The rest of the people in the media team continued with the interview from the
various people of Baia Mare and get to know about their perspective about sport.
We organize a cultural night on the behalf of Italy and invited other members from
other volunteer groups. It was a fine night.

28. Today, we went to the Skatepark, located on 9 Dealul Florilor, in Baia Mare. These
kids, as they said, enjoy their free time practicing incredible trickswith the skate
and the scooter. Average age of them came between 10 to 16, although there
were also kids younger and a bit older.
They spend their time in the Skatepark and confessed that football is not that
worthy for them, although they have the "Stadionul Viorel Mateianu" just a few
meters away. They prefer the adrenaline and try as many times as needed to
successfully do the trick.
We organized a small competition between these children and they were excited
as it is a natural way to appreciate them to do more and learn more. All of the
participants were given t-shirts and the winning ones were awarded with prizes.
SKATE, also known as the Game of Skate, is a skateboarding game using rules
based upon the H.O.R.S.E. game played by basketball players. SKATE was first
played in the 1970s by vertical skateboarders Lance Mountain, Neil Blender and
John Lucero, and was then adopted by street skaters in the 1980s. So it's a
famous game and many people find it intriguing to play it and to learn tricks with
skateboards.

some people came to support the players.
After was Kazakhstan and Chinese cultural night. We invited people from other
projects and gave open invitations to everyone who wanted to come and join us.
Then we played several games that are traditional and very famous in China. It
was a fine and energetic night.

about our learning about our new experience, about our perspective on life. It was
a great discussion.
We worked on the survey's questions and then we went out to meet with local
people, ask their point of view about how they feel about sports volunteering.
We had our last cultural night, of Ukraine. After that we celebrated one of the

For the last of the afternoon we went to the Regina Maria Park to play kicking ball.
This was a new game for most of us so we took time to understand properly the
