The verb is perhaps the most
important part of the sentence. A verb
or compound verb asserts something
about the subject of the sentence and
express actions, events, or states of
being. The verb or compound verb is
the critical element of the predicate of
a sentence.
And other condition of the principal verb, modal

    verbs haven’t conjugation, tense and they can’t
    be used without the principal verb. In
    English, there are ten modal verbs:

    can could// may might//shall should//will

    would //must ought to



May and might are synonymous and suggest
 an action that can happen in the future.

    I may / might

    This may / might be a bad idea.

    It may / might rain tonight.

Group
Normal verbs
  Most verbs are quot;Normal Verbs.quot; These verbs
  can be used in all tenses.
to run, to walk, to eat, to fly, to go, to say, to
  touch, etc.
                     Group 2
Non-Continuous Verbs
  These verbs are rarely used in continuous
  tenses. They include:
Abstract Verbs
 to be, to want, to cost, to seem, to need, to
  care, to contain, to owe, to exist...

Possession Verbs
 to possess, to own, to belong...


Emotion Verbs
 to like, to love, to hate, to dislike, to fear, to
  envy, to mind...
Mixed Verbs

The third group, called quot;Mixed Verbs,quot; is the
smallest group. These verbs have more than
one meaning. In a way, each meaning is a
unique verb. Some meanings behave like
quot;Non-Continuous Verbsquot;
Some sentences:

    Donna appears confused – “non continuous”

    verb
    My favorite singer is appearing at the jazz

    club tonight – “normal verb”
    I have a dollar now - “normal verb”

    I am having fun now - “normal verb”

    She hears the music

    She is hearing the music

A regular verb is one that follows the pattern
of taking -ed for the past simple and past
participle (or -d if the verb ends in -e).
A short regular verb list

    Present     past        past participle

    Dance       danced      danced

    Listen      listened    listened

    Watch       watched     watched

    Ask         Asked       Asked

    Finish      Finished    Finished

    Use         used        used

An irregular verb is one that does not take
    the -ed ending for the past and past
    participle forms. Some irregular verbs do not
    change
    put put put



while others change completely
    buy bought bought,

a short list of irregular verbs:

    Present      past              past participle

    Awake        awoke             awaken

    Be           was, were         been

    Become       became            become

    Begin        began             begun

    Choose       chose             chosen

    Cut          cut               cut

    Do           did               done

    Come         came              come

