Rox Take Two Games From MoonDogs as Miller Falls a Triple Short of the Cycle
St. Cloud, Minn. – The St. Cloud Rox defeated the Mankato MoonDogs for the second time on Wednesday after a 11-6 win at the Rock
Pile.
Austin Caspersen (Doane College) was the starting pitcher for the Rox. He would pitch 3.0 innings where he struck out one batter. Robbie
Petty (Nichols State) would follow Caspersen by throwing 6.0 innings, striking out two batters, only allowing four hits and recording the
win.
Scoring for the Rox would begin in the first inning when Liam Bedford (Doane College) would drive in Marcus Carson (University of
Kentucky) with a single. Lee Miller (Davidson College) would then score shortly after on a sacrifice fly from Jake Farr (Tennessee Tech).
Miller would blast a three-run homerun over the right field fence in the second inning that would give the Rox a 5-3 lead. The Rox would
tack on another run in the third inning when Brandon Benson (Georgia College) would hit a sacrifice fly to left field that scored Brett
Pope (Western Carolina University).
Strem would drive in his first RBI of the night in the fifth inning when he singled in Farr.
St. Cloud would add three more runs in the bottom of the sixth. The scoring started when Bedford singled in Miller and Sansone. Bedford
would then move around the bases and score on a Strem single.
The offense for the Rox would end in the eighth inning when Bedford would his a solo homerun, his third of the season. Bedford would
finish the game 3-5 with four RBIs and two runs scored.
The Rox are now 19-7 in the second half and 38-22 overall. St. Cloud leads the second half North Division standings by three games over
Willmar.
The Rox return to the Rock Pile tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. as they start a two-game series versus the Waterloo Bucks. Gates will open for
fans at 6:05 p.m. Tomorrow will be a Chisel Bobblehead Giveaway presented by Capital One. First 360 fans will receive a token to be
redeemed for a bobblehead during the game.
