Concepts of
groups
• In sociology, a group is usually defined as a
collection of humans who share certain
characteristics, interact with one another, accept
expectations and obligations as members of the
group, and share a common identity. Using this
definition, society can appear as a large group.

Types of organizations
• A broad definition of an organization could be said to be
that of any purposeful arrangement of social activity that
implies active control over human relations ordered for
particular ends. In this sense, organizations involve patterns
of relationships beyond primary group associations that are
largely spontaneous, unplanned, and informal, and that are
typified by kinship relations, peer groups, and localized
community networks.
