Geoloqi iPhone App Tour

               Welcome to Geoloqi!
Geoloqi is a private, real-time mobile and web
platform for securely sharing location data.

               Features include Geonotes, automatic Foursquare
checkins, and private real-time GPS tracking. Geoloqi
gives you full control over you privacy. Share your
location with those you want to for a limited time.

The GPS tracker runs in the background, and has
full tracking settings. Choose from high resolution
tracking, battery saver mode or your own custom
settings. Worried about battery consumption? You’ll
get a warning when your battery gets too low.

               Getting Started
Sign Up, Log In, or Use Anonymously

The first thing you’ll see is a Log in or Sign up screen.
Click the Sign Up button if you’re a new user.

Don’t want an account right now? You can use the
application anonymously and sign up for an account
               later.

   Map Screen
The map screen allows you to see where you’ve been
as well as share your location with others.

   Send Location
Simply press “Send Location” to start sharing your
   location with others.

   Check in Once
You can also use the single point check in, called
“Check in Once” on the Controls screen in order to set
your location without draining your battery. This is
useful if you’ll be in a location for a while and want to
share just the point you are at with someone else.

   Navigation
You’ll also see buttons at the bottom of the screen.
These buttons will allow you to send Geonotes,
change your battery and tracking settings and
subscribe to layers in the app.

               Anonymous Tracking
We don’t require registration to use Geoloqi! You can
tap “Use Anonymously” from the welcome screen and
               start using it immediately.

Already logged into your account? If you’d like to
switch over to tracking anonymously, use the “Log
Out” button from the Controls screen and close the
app. When you open it back up you’ll get the option to
log in, sign up, or track anonymously.

Geoloqi always keeps your data private and secure.
This option lets you use the app without ever giving
us any of your personal information.

   Location Sharing
   Send/Share Your Location
To share your location, simply press the share button from
the main map screen. You’ll be presented with a number of
   choices for link sharing.

Those you share your location with will get a real-time map
of your location that will expire after the time you set is up.
The map will work on any smartphone and on the web.

   Uses
   • Track your location as you run, or allow your spouse or
loved ones to see your trail.
   • Meeting someone? Send a link before you leave, and your
map will be private again after the time you choose.
   • The person you share your location with doesn’t need to
have Geoloqi! They can see your location on a mobile web
page or on their desktop browser!

Post a link to Twitter or Facebook
Geoloqi supports sharing from Twitter and
Facebook, as well as Email and SMS. Here’s an
example of sharing a link via Twitter. You can also
share your location on any service by using the
   copy URL link in Geoloqi.

   Location Shared!
You’ll receive a conformation that your location
has been shared, and the location tracker will
automatically turn itself on. It is up to you to
turn it off. If you don’t, you’ll get a warning if your
battery gets low so that you don’t forget to turn
   the tracker off!

   Note
You can only receive Geonotes, layer updates and
automatic Foursquare checkins if your tracker is
on. For best results and long battery life, click
on the “Battery Saver” option from the Controls
   screen.

               Geonotes
Leave a message to your future self!

Geonotes allow you to leave a message in a location
and have it Emailed, texted or pushed to you when
you get to that location. You can send yourself a
Geonote at the store so that you remember what
groceries to get, or leave yourself a note at work
reminding yourself of an important task.

You’ll get the note pushed and Emailed to you next
time you visit the location you left it in. Each Geonote
only works once. You can leave as many Geonotes
as you like. If you’d like to leave one for a friend, visit
their profile on the Geoloqi.com website and send
it from there! You’ll get an Email confirmation when
               they pick it up!

January 2011

               Leave a Geonote
To leave a Geonote, simply move the pin to the
location you’d like to leave the note. Then press the
Leave a Geonote button to compose your message.
               It’s as easy as that.

January 2011

               Write a Message
Write anything you like. You might try leaving a
grocery list, greeting, reminder or task list, or just
something fun to do at that location.

               Geonote Created!
That’s all there is to creating Geonotes. You can send
them as much as you like!

               Uses of Geonotes
               • Leave a Geonote reminding yourself to get
                    something at the grocery store
               • Remind yourself of an important task at work
               • Send public transit information to yourself that
will be sent when you need it

               Note
You can only receive Geonotes when your tracker is on. For
best results, turn the tracker on when you move from one
location to another, and then turn the tracker off when you
arrive at your destination for period of time.

January 2011
Geoloqi iPhone App Tour

 Tracking Controls
You have three tracking options available to you, High Resolution,
Custom and Battery Saver. Battery Saver is a tracking mode
that is not as accurate or real-time, but helps save your battery.
High resolution will give you the most accurate GPS trail, and is
recommended when you’re sharing your location with someone
for a short period of time.

  Distance Filter
Geoloqi will ignore points unless they are farther apart
  than the number specified.
  Tracking Limit
Geoloqi will not record more points more frequently than
this interval. Setting this to 30 seconds will guarantee
your points are spaced at least 30 seconds apart.
  Rate Limit
Geoloqi will send points to the server at this interval.
Setting this to 2 minutes will queue up points and send
  them after 2 minutes.

               What’s a Layer?
A layer is a set of geocoded data that
               you can subscribe to.
For instance, a trivia layer could have information
about the city you live in, and that information would
be pushed to your phone as you walk down the street.
The “Earthquakes” layer sends you a notification
when you’re within 250km of an earthquake that just
               happened.
Layers are easy to subscribe to, and you’ll be able
to make your own layers from within Geoloqi soon!
Right now, you build your own layer using the Geoloqi
               API.
               Geoloqi supports automatic Foursquare Check-ins!
Turn on the Foursquare layer to automatically check
in to your favorite places on Foursquare if you’re
               there more than 10 minutes.

January 2011
Geoloqi iPhone App Tour

               Subscribing to a Layer
Subscribe to a layer by simply switching
               the button to On.
You’ll be subscribed to a geofeed of data based on
               your current location!
In this case, this is the “Earthquakes” layer that allows
you to get notifications when an earthquake above
3.0 happens within 250km of your current location
in real-time. It’s simply a demo of what can be done
with realtime data and Geoloqi. The earthquake data
comes from usgs.gov’s real-time earthquake feed.

January 2011
Geoloqi iPhone App Tour

               Subscription Confirmation
When you subscribe to a layer, your subscription will
be confirmed. To unsubscribe to a layer, simply press
               the switch to Off.
You can build your own custom layer of geolocated
data that Geoloqi users can subscribe to. Examples
include gelocated Wikipedia history entries, happy
hour specials, located-based games and other trivia.
If you’d like to build your own layer and you’re not a
developer, contact us at info@geoloqi.com and we’ll
work with you to create a truly awesome layer.

That’s it!
What next?
Things to try after installing the app:
• Send yourself a Geonote somewhere nearby.
• Share a link with someone you’re going to meet so
     they can watch you arrive.
• Subscribe to the “Earthquakes” layer to get alerts
when an earthquake happens near you.

  • 2. Geoloqi iPhone App Tour Getting Started Sign Up, Log In, or Use Anonymously The first thing you’ll see is a Log in or Sign up screen. Click the Sign Up button if you’re a new user. Don’t want an account right now? You can use the application anonymously and sign up for an account later. January 2011
  • 3. Geoloqi iPhone App Tour Map Screen The map screen allows you to see where you’ve been as well as share your location with others. Send Location Simply press “Send Location” to start sharing your location with others. Check in Once You can also use the single point check in, called “Check in Once” on the Controls screen in order to set your location without draining your battery. This is useful if you’ll be in a location for a while and want to share just the point you are at with someone else. Navigation You’ll also see buttons at the bottom of the screen. These buttons will allow you to send Geonotes, change your battery and tracking settings and subscribe to layers in the app. January 2011
  • 4. Geoloqi iPhone App Tour Anonymous Tracking We don’t require registration to use Geoloqi! You can tap “Use Anonymously” from the welcome screen and start using it immediately. Already logged into your account? If you’d like to switch over to tracking anonymously, use the “Log Out” button from the Controls screen and close the app. When you open it back up you’ll get the option to log in, sign up, or track anonymously. Geoloqi always keeps your data private and secure. This option lets you use the app without ever giving us any of your personal information. January 2011
  • 5. Geoloqi iPhone App Tour Location Sharing Send/Share Your Location To share your location, simply press the share button from the main map screen. You’ll be presented with a number of choices for link sharing. Those you share your location with will get a real-time map of your location that will expire after the time you set is up. The map will work on any smartphone and on the web. Uses • Track your location as you run, or allow your spouse or loved ones to see your trail. • Meeting someone? Send a link before you leave, and your map will be private again after the time you choose. • The person you share your location with doesn’t need to have Geoloqi! They can see your location on a mobile web page or on their desktop browser! January 2011
  • 6. Geoloqi iPhone App Tour Share on Facebook Post a link to Twitter or Facebook Geoloqi supports sharing from Twitter and Facebook, as well as Email and SMS. Here’s an example of sharing a link via Twitter. You can also share your location on any service by using the copy URL link in Geoloqi. January 2011
  • 7. Geoloqi iPhone App Tour Location Shared! You’ll receive a conformation that your location has been shared, and the location tracker will automatically turn itself on. It is up to you to turn it off. If you don’t, you’ll get a warning if your battery gets low so that you don’t forget to turn the tracker off! Note You can only receive Geonotes, layer updates and automatic Foursquare checkins if your tracker is on. For best results and long battery life, click on the “Battery Saver” option from the Controls screen. January 2011
  • 8. Geoloqi iPhone App Tour Geonotes Leave a message to your future self! Geonotes allow you to leave a message in a location and have it Emailed, texted or pushed to you when you get to that location. You can send yourself a Geonote at the store so that you remember what groceries to get, or leave yourself a note at work reminding yourself of an important task. You’ll get the note pushed and Emailed to you next time you visit the location you left it in. Each Geonote only works once. You can leave as many Geonotes as you like. If you’d like to leave one for a friend, visit their profile on the Geoloqi.com website and send it from there! You’ll get an Email confirmation when they pick it up! January 2011
  • 9. Geoloqi iPhone App Tour Leave a Geonote To leave a Geonote, simply move the pin to the location you’d like to leave the note. Then press the Leave a Geonote button to compose your message. It’s as easy as that. January 2011
  • 10. Geoloqi iPhone App Tour Write a Message Write anything you like. You might try leaving a grocery list, greeting, reminder or task list, or just something fun to do at that location. January 2011
  • 11. Geoloqi iPhone App Tour Geonote Created! That’s all there is to creating Geonotes. You can send them as much as you like! Uses of Geonotes • Leave a Geonote reminding yourself to get something at the grocery store • Remind yourself of an important task at work • Send public transit information to yourself that will be sent when you need it Note You can only receive Geonotes when your tracker is on. For best results, turn the tracker on when you move from one location to another, and then turn the tracker off when you arrive at your destination for period of time. January 2011
  • 12. Geoloqi iPhone App Tour Tracking Controls You have three tracking options available to you, High Resolution, Custom and Battery Saver. Battery Saver is a tracking mode that is not as accurate or real-time, but helps save your battery. High resolution will give you the most accurate GPS trail, and is recommended when you’re sharing your location with someone for a short period of time. Distance Filter Geoloqi will ignore points unless they are farther apart than the number specified. Tracking Limit Geoloqi will not record more points more frequently than this interval. Setting this to 30 seconds will guarantee your points are spaced at least 30 seconds apart. Rate Limit Geoloqi will send points to the server at this interval. Setting this to 2 minutes will queue up points and send them after 2 minutes. January 2011
  • 13. Geoloqi iPhone App Tour What’s a Layer? A layer is a set of geocoded data that you can subscribe to. For instance, a trivia layer could have information about the city you live in, and that information would be pushed to your phone as you walk down the street. The “Earthquakes” layer sends you a notification when you’re within 250km of an earthquake that just happened. Layers are easy to subscribe to, and you’ll be able to make your own layers from within Geoloqi soon! Right now, you build your own layer using the Geoloqi API. Geoloqi supports automatic Foursquare Check-ins! Turn on the Foursquare layer to automatically check in to your favorite places on Foursquare if you’re there more than 10 minutes. January 2011
  • 14. Geoloqi iPhone App Tour Subscribing to a Layer Subscribe to a layer by simply switching the button to On. You’ll be subscribed to a geofeed of data based on your current location! In this case, this is the “Earthquakes” layer that allows you to get notifications when an earthquake above 3.0 happens within 250km of your current location in real-time. It’s simply a demo of what can be done with realtime data and Geoloqi. The earthquake data comes from usgs.gov’s real-time earthquake feed. January 2011
  • 15. Geoloqi iPhone App Tour Subscription Confirmation When you subscribe to a layer, your subscription will be confirmed. To unsubscribe to a layer, simply press the switch to Off. You can build your own custom layer of geolocated data that Geoloqi users can subscribe to. Examples include gelocated Wikipedia history entries, happy hour specials, located-based games and other trivia. If you’d like to build your own layer and you’re not a developer, contact us at info@geoloqi.com and we’ll work with you to create a truly awesome layer. January 2011
  • 16. Geoloqi iPhone App Tour That’s it! What next? Things to try after installing the app: • Send yourself a Geonote somewhere nearby. • Share a link with someone you’re going to meet so they can watch you arrive. • Subscribe to the “Earthquakes” layer to get alerts when an earthquake happens near you. Questions? Comments? Send feedback to feedback@geoloqi.com. Need help? See geoloqi.com/help!
