4. Leading the Revolution
The Haitian Revolution started on
the Night of Fire and continued until
1803. Louverture lead the Haitians.
He then fought for the French, then
went back to side with the Haitians
until his death.
5. Death
Louverture was captured by Charles
Leclerc and was sent to Fort-de-
Joux. Louverture died on April 7,
1803. He died before Haiti was freed
on December 31, 1803 by Jean-
Jacques Dessalines.
