WGS Claims Processing system takes a claim through a series of stages, populating the claim with
data that results in adjudication. The record format of the claim is called the Claims Train. Claims can be
edited by examiners to correct errors, add missing information or make any necessary adjustments. The
WGS Claims Processing System is divided into 5 logical units of processing: Electronic Data Interchange
(EDI) or Direct Data Capture (DDC), System Adjudication, Pre-Adjudication Correction (PAC), Image
Processing, Accumulators. At the end of System Adjudication or Image Processing, depending upon the
route taken, the claim is processed by a nightly batch process which generates checks/EOB and archives
the claim and the same as tested in Web portal for CCB validation.

Project Description:
Anthem Claims Recovery is an application that recovers money from providers which had
been overpaid by Anthem for the submitted claims. The corresponding claim and recover amount would
be identified by the recovery specialist. The ACR application is developed on VB source code with
SYBASE as DB and UNIX part for job scheduling to load the data’s from external system to ACR DB. Each
release we are received the requirement as SSCR, based on that we modified the existing VB code, UNIX
job and Store procedure. ACR application migrated from VB to ASP.NET and project deadline extended
for ACR migration which we confirm the legacy and landing application working as expected.
Business Distributor System is an application is developed to provide the information to
direct any contact with the company/our Customers (often times referred to as Groups or Accounts) and
Members to the system, location, business unit or individual who can address their needs.
BDS can be used by any system or individual to identify where to send a contact. The member
information provides a view of the member’s history with the company that cannot be obtained in any
one of the processing system. For any given point in that history, it provides the system, phone numbers,
and code assigned to an individual or area of the company. The defined routing is independent upon the
system sending updates, can be set up to be time sensitive, and provides history capabilities. Anthem
currently uses the BDS application for Routing Information at member level/customer level and
Maintenance of the routing/member/customer tables.

applications. In addition, Subro2K supports external customer’s health plans under a third party
agreement.
IAutomate – IAutomate is an upgraded web based solution of CaseMate product which was owned by
legacy Anthem for the Subrogation services. Considering the scalable aspects of Anthem, the existing
CaseMate application was enhanced by its vendor IAG. The IAutomate solution processes claims from
WGS, STAR, FACETS, NASCO, both IAutomate and Subro2K have their own inherent flaws and good
features and choosing one over the other as an enterprise level solution in their current form will not
solve the key issues being faced by Anthem business. Hence a new enterprise Subro solution is to be
created which will encompass the best in class features of both the systems and also subrogation

based on the multiple Pricing rules which allows user to modify the defined values. Various payment
