1. Luke 1:26-28
In the sixth month, God sent the angel
Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a
virgin pledged to be married to a man
named Joseph, a descendant of David. The
virgin’s name was Mary. The angel went to
her and said, ‘Greetings, you who are highly
favored! The Lord is with you.’

2. Luke 1:29-31
Mary was greatly troubled at his words and
wondered what kind of greeting this might
be. But the angel said to her, ‘Do not be
afraid, Mary, you have found favor with
God. You will be with Child and give birth
to a Son, and you are to give Him the name
Jesus.

3. Luke 1:32-34
He will be great and will be called the Son
of the Most High. The Lord God will give
Him the throne of His father David, and He
will reign over the house of Jacob forever;
His kingdom will never end.’ ‘How can this
be,’ Mary asked the angel, ‘since I am a
virgin?’

4. Luke 1:35-36
The angel answered, ‘The Holy Spirit will
come upon you, and the power of the Most
High will overshadow you. So the Holy One
to be born will be called the Son of God.
Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have
a child in her old age, and she who was said
to be barren is in her sixth moth.

5. Luke 1:37-38
For nothing is impossible for God.’
‘I am the Lord’s servant,’ Mary answered.
‘May it be to me as you have said.’ Then
the angel left her.

6. Just because something
sounds UNBELIEVABLE
doesn’t make it UNTRUE,
nor does our lack of
UNDERSTANDING.
Luke turns our attention to the UNIQUENESS
of Jesus’ delivery arrival, born of a VIRGIN.
God come in the flesh is the WHAT of
Christmas, the virgin birth is the HOW of
Christmas.
7. The virgin birth is the
MEANS that God would
take on flesh.
Jesus’ birth points to how He is GREATER.
The angel’s greeting is not to highlight the
MERIT of Mary, but God’s GRACE
8. Mary was troubled not as
much by the PRESENCE of
the angel, but his WORDS
Jesus can do what He will do BECAUSE He is
Who He is, the Son of God.
The question is not whether or now
someone has faith, but is their faith
REASONABLE in the light of the evidence…
9. “…It’s only because
SCIENTIFICALLY
virgins don’t get
pregnant that God
can REVEAL Himself
in a virgin birth”
(Vince Vitale)
The virgin birth may seem UNBELIEVABLE,
but we have REASONS to believe it’s true.

My Next Step Today is to:
( ) Do the home life help (in bulletin)
( ) Meditate on the fact that God chose to step
into the world to bring us back to Himself
( ) Evaluate if I have truly received Jesus, listening
to His voice above all others.
( ) Reflect on the reasons I believe.
( ) Take some time simply to adore and worship
Jesus for Who He is.
