For these videos. I want you to get out a piece of paper You are going to answer these 2 questions
What are the scientific observations? What are the patterns that can be explained? Eg. What is the result?
Now, what does this mean? Think about it. When isaac newton was trying to figure out what it was that caused objects to fall to the ground, he observed and observed, then did experiments with different sized objects and found they all fell at the same acceleration. We will talk a lot more about the specifics later, but the theory and later law of gravity came from observation and expermientation of a pattern; objects falling at a constant rate regardless of size or mass.
In order to get from point A to B in science, we use the scientific method.

First we observe, then make hypothesis. This is a little in the middle of things. We always start with observations and then va into hypothesis and experiment.
Facts are not necessaryily absolute, but most scientists may agree with them. Theories generally interpret the facts, and the laws come about as results of theories.
Break into groups of 3 or 4.
We are going to go outside. Take your notebooks. What we are going to do is make some observations It can be anything. It doesn’t necessarily have to be physics related, it can be anything. Whether you see a butterfly flying or a leaf dropping, It can be anythinnnng
Then, with your group, you are going to come up with a hypothesis as to why it happens, then devise an experiment on how to test your hypothesis. For example. If I picked an observation of a butterly flying, I might hypothesisze that it flies because it is trying to escape a predator. My experiment might be to catch the butterfly, then approach it with a ‘predator’ to see if it flies.
Sceince is not just about being right. It is also about finding what is definitely wrong so you can eliminate it from the theory.
