2. A Fresh Chapter is a project of Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs (SEE),
a U.S. 501(c)(3) public charity. A Fresh Chapter has applied for its own
independent 501(c)(3) Status.
WHO WE ARE
A Fresh Chapter empowers patients, survivors, and
caregivers to move beyond the isolation and trauma of
cancer, and discover renewed confidence, possibility, and
purpose in their lives.
Through life-changing volunteer experiences, our
participants see that struggle is universal and connect to a
supportive community to help them navigate whatever
the future may hold.

4. • A successful recruiter, Terri was diagnosed with aggressive breast
cancer in 2009 at the age of 30.
• She navigated grueling chemotherapy and multiple surgeries, but
was blindsided by the emotional aftermath of cancer.
• Searching for inspiration and a way to reclaim her story, she
stepped out of her comfort zone for a life-changing, 6-week
volunteer experience at a daycare center in the Townships of
Cape Town, South Africa.
• With renewed purpose and a passion to explore how she could
create volunteer experiences to help others, she set off on a six-
month odyssey to volunteer in 7 countries on 5 continents.
• Volunteering, as well as connecting with cancer patients in
Vietnam, India, Rwanda, Tanzania, Peru, and Costa Rica shaped
the vision of A Fresh Chapter.
• She launched the first A Fresh Chapter (AFC) program in 2013.
