- Mark to talk about rebrandingOrelogy is consists of two divisions Consulting and Technology ( s/w development)…The 11 people in our consulting group use EVORELUTION on a all scheduling project work and are thus full time clients of the technology division.As a number of you will have noticed we have re-branded and there were a couple of reasons for that.1. we’ve matured as a company we’re now 7 years old and we have transitioned from a partnership entity to a Pty Ltd Company2. Secondly there was some confusion with logos company and product they didn’t look like they came form the same company The change is to make sure consulting and EVORELUTION looked like they are from the same company.
- I would also like to take this opportunity to introduce Ross, Christie, Mark, Ryan and the rest of the team…..Now, I will hand over to Mark, ORELOGY’s BD Manager, who will introduce this mornings agenda

- From my perspective as well as the many jobs we have worked on over the past few years… it is also your perspective.That is, that there are MANY objectives that need to be satisfied, with value being one of them…..
- One important date I left out was early 2008…..This was when Project EVORELUTION started.This means version 2 that we are releasing today has been 4 years in the making.What were we thinking back in 2008?? ….sometimes we wonder because the problems we are solving aren’t trivial!!One thing for sure we knew there had to be more efficient ways to get practical/quality, high value schedules?And innovation was going to be the key to achieving it.Thankfully we didn’t have to worry about legacy software development so we started with a clean sheet of paper.Apart from efficiency gains, we set about planning/developing a commercial scheduling solution that:was genericuser friendlyA best-of-breed solution that and to utilised the latest technology.A sustainable product that didn’t require costly customisation.In 2010 as a hand full of you will remember we held a seminar at the Parmelia announcing the arrival of EVORELUTION v1.1.At that seminar we undertook a live scheduling exercise while we were presenting…. We used a 90,000 block constrained model generated schedules for it while doing our presentation. Apart from generating schedules showed how client server technology allowed users to undertake other tasks at the same time EVO v1.1 was The first commercial system to:- Use an Evolutionary algorithm approach- Deliver block-by-block granular information across the planning horizons- Tackle multi-objective Consistency/variability on a block-by-block basis- applySoftware-as-a-Service to product delivery model.As of course as with all new products there were a couple of features missing, but not withstanding that EVORELUTION, was producing good practical high value schedules.So at that point we made an commitment to ourselves and to the mining engineering community to a development time line and for the last two years we have pretty well hit every development timelines.Against all-integrated solutions – does not allow for innovation!!
- As you can see from the table, we’ve added some major functionality over the past 2 years , some of it unique (dynamic equipment scheduling).Adding this functionality has not been a trivial exercise by any stretch of the imagination.The addition of this functionality means what we have today in EVORELTUTION v2 is a:fully featured scheduling solutionwith a proper reserve enginevisualisation tools block model manipulation.In addition to this EVORELUTION has now been used on over 30 projects, and as you will hear from Steve in a little while EVORLEUTION can achieve terrific results.Before we get to Steve I’d like to hand you over to ORELOGY’s R&D Manager Christie Myburgh to explain and walk you through some the fundamental reasons why we chose an evolutionary algorithm approach to solve the scheduling jigsaw.
- Transition SlideThe No Free Lunch theorems (Wolpert and Macready 1997) assure us there is no “silver bullet” algorithm to solve all search/optimization problems, but EA’s are more often than not able to generate practical solutions to difficult problems in time for them to be useful.
