Q6
1. What have you learnt
about technologies from
the process of constructing
this product?
I used a few different technologies to put my front
cover, contents page and two-page spread.
2. I used Apple Mac computers because I had access
at college and at home
Throughout the production, I learnt the basics of
Apple computers such as how to screenshot which
is a big part of my blog
I also learnt how to use different softwares such as
QuickTime player and iMovie
3.
For the photoshoot, the photography department lent
me their professional camera and their studio
In the studio, there was an option of having a black
background or a white background. I chose to use the
white background because it was the available one
since other people were using the other one
I have previous knowledge of how to use cameras so it
didn’t take much time to get used to the device
I learnt how to change the camera settings because I
played around with the exposure, contrast and
saturation settings
4.
Photoshop was one of the two main programs that I had to use to
construct my product, and since I have never used it before, I had
to learn a lot before I could use it properly
I practiced and played around Photoshop through the construction
of the college magazine and the music magazine
I used Photoshop for my front cover and my contents page and I
learnt:
how to set up the page that I’m using
how to cut and edit pictures using tools such as the magnetic lasso
how to layer different things to make my piece better
how to put downloaded fonts onto Photoshop
Whenever I had difficulty with Photoshop, I either asked for help
from peers/the teacher, went on Google or went on YouTube
5.
I used InDesign to construct my two-page spread
Similar to Photoshop, I also practiced using InDesign
through the college magazine and music magazine
InDesign taught me similar skills as Photoshop but in a
different layout, however it was easier in this program
because it gives you the option to lock the layers
I also learnt how to put columns and how to wrap texts
I learnt the same skills as I did when I started
learning/exploring Photoshop
6. I used Microsoft Word for tasks such as writing
the two-page spread article, drafting the
questionnaires, etc
I didn’t learn any skills that I didn’t know before I
started the coursework
7.
I mainly used PowerPoint to create presentations for
my blog
I didn’t learn anything new from PowerPoint since I
have used it many times before. However, I did get the
chance to explore new themes/designs for the new
version of PowerPoint
Since I couldn’t upload slideshows straight to
Wordpress, I converted it in SlideShare first. I uploaded
my PowerPoint presentations on to SlideShare and
embedded it into my blog
SlideShare wasn’t hard to use because of it was pretty
straight-forward
8.
SurveyMonkey is a website that lets you make multiple
questionnaires and analyse them after getting all the
results you need
It is a fairly straight-forward website so it wasn’t much
of a challenge to figure out how to use it
I learnt how to make questionnaires and change the
layout to make it the way I need it to be
Then, the website provided a link so I could get people
to fill it out
It then provided me with tables and graphs that helped
me analyse and evaluate the questionnaire results
9. Wordpress is the site that I used for my blog for
my coursework
I learnt how use to whole website quickly
The layout of the site is well organised and very
user-friendly
I was able to make new pages on my blog,
categorise my posts, change the date and time of
the post, edit posts, embed pictures, videos and
slideshows, and more
