are produced and paid for by an organization. Advertising is
a form of communication for marketing and it is used to
encourage or persuade the audience.
The purpose of TV advertising is show the audience the product
that is being sold. To create a large target audience for the
product or service, and to persuade the audience to buy the
product or use the service.

The first TV Advert was broadcasted on July the 1 st 1941 in
America. The advert was for a watch make called bulvoa. It
cost $9 for the whole advert.
The first advert to be broadcasted in England was 21 st
September 1955 on ITV. It was for Gibbs SR Toothpaste.
4. Most Expensive Advert
The most expensive advert that was ever made was Channel
they spent $33 million on there two minute commercial in 2004,
featuring actress Nicole Kidman who the paid $3million to be in the
commercial and director Baz Lurhrmann.

The best time of day to show and advert in the UK the ‘peak
time’ is 6pm – 11pm. Between 6pm – 8 pm is popular with
families and after 8pm is when ‘adults’ watch TV.

What is the Advertising Standards Authority?
The Advertising Standards Authority is the UK’s independent
regulator of advertising across all media. The ASA apply the
Advertising Codes, which are written by the Committees of
Advertising Practice. This includes on acting on complaints
that have been made and proactively checking the media to
take action against any misleading, harmful or offensive
advertisements
7. Why Do Adverts Get Banned?
The reason why adverts do get banned is because some
adverts may come across as offensive or rude to some
people even if others don’t think its bad. This is why
commercials get banned, because channels don’t want some
viewers to have a negative attitude towards a certain channel after
seeing ads, possibly such as these, on that channel.
