Transitions In Early Years
Transitions are changes that take part of our lives and are out of our control. Transitions are
essential part of every person's life but can be harder to adjust in early years. Although in early
years' transitions are supported by family, friends and practitioners/carers. Children's early
experiences of transitions can have a big effect on how they handle transitions in adult life. Most
transitions happen to all children around the same time; but some are personal to individual children
and not widely experienced at a young age. Transitions that will be explained are: Starting nursery
Moving rooms at nursery Starting school Puberty New siblings Divorce Bereavement

Transitioning For A Child
The process of transitioning for a student who is approaching transition age is important because a
child is moving on to their next phase in life and that can be difficult, even for a child without ID.
However, a child that has ID needs to have steps and guidance in order to be prepared for what is to
come. Achild with disabilities will fail or even fall beyond if certain things are not in place.
In order for the student to succeed the educational system must provide transition services which
should be tailored to the student and their needs. What this looks like is having annual goals and
objectives in order to get to the annual goals. This will allow the student to be able to succeed. The
areas of the student's future life outside

Childhood Transition
The transition from childhood to adulthood is a defining phase in the lives of many people. For
some, it involves tradition and celebration; while for others it occurs in a defining moment. For
me, the transition was a gradual process involving growth through leadership in middle school
and high school. As a young child in elementary school, I was very shy and anxious about
everything. As I continued to grow older, I started to grow out of my introverted nature with the
help of my friends, teachers, and family. In fact, I started to go in the opposite direction and
became more outgoing. This trend continued into middle school as I decided to try to run for
student council, thinking that it would help me grow and become more popular. After I won a
narrow election and began my work in the council, I realized that it would drastically change my
life. Throughout my years in the middle school student council, I slowly learned the lessons of
leadership, responsibility, and problem solving in a more realistic setting. These...show more

Fredrickson, stated that leadership is a lifestyle. Initially, I did not think much of this. However, as
I continued through my freshman year, I slowly realized the truth in that statement. My classmates
looked to me for someone to follow. My teachers held me to a higher standard as a leader, and the
administration saw me as an effective student body representative. I began to take a bigger role in
school, especially as an interviewer for the superintendent and assistant principal positions. I also
pushed to new levels of leadership in student council. As a sophomore, I became the Central Division
Delegate–at–Large with the help of my advisor and fellow council members. All of these
experiences gave me more lessons in leadership and responsibility and taught me many life skills,
including the ability to compromise, speak in public, and make new friends and

Transitions Of The Early Years
This essay will cover transitions in the early years. It will discuss a diverse range of transitions,
which each child may encounter during their early years of life. It will discuss different types of
transitions such as horizontal and vertical transitions, with reference to appropriate theorists such as
Bowlby and Ainsworth's and their research on the attachment theory. The last section of the essay
will show a high quality policy and procedure, going into detail on how it will support a child in the
transition from pre–school in a nursery setting, to reception in a primary school.
Transitions are commonly described as different phases of concentrated learning and enhanced
development in a social context. (Dunlop et al, 2007). There are three types of transitions, each have
a different meaning. Vertical transitions describe a major change in a child's life, for example,
moving from pre–school, to the reception class in a school. Internal transitions occur when a child
moves to a different room in a setting, for example, from a toddler room to a pre–school room, or
reception to year 1. Horizontal transitions is a much broader term, they occur on a day–to–day basis,
for example from their house to nursery, having multiple carers in one day, encountering unfamiliar
people and many more. (O'Connor, 2013). "Development is all about transitions: conception to birth,
birth to toddlerhood, to pre–schooler, school–age child, to adolescent, adolescent to adult, adult to

Transitions From Childhood Up To Adolescence
The purpose of conducting this secondary research project is to learn about the types of transitions
experienced by youths from childhood up to adolescence. Also to see the effect of transitions on
children, be it temporary or permanent. While numerous studies have already been carried out, in
order to study and gain an understanding of the transitions and change experienced in a child's life
through to adolescence and impacts on overall development as a result of the transitions. This topic
is not researched enough, in order to give a clear and concise understanding of the effects on the
overall development of children as a result of transitions. The same concept stands to be accurate
throughout the various changes and transitions experienced

The Various Types Of Transitions
The 4 types of transitions are
Emotional – personal experiences such as parent 's separating, bereavement, beginning or leaving a
place of care.
Physical – change in environments
Intellectual – maturation, moving from one educational establishment to another.
Physiological – puberty or medical conditions.
Moving into a new nursery or classroom is a big transition for children like getting a new teacher,
class mates, class, new room and way of working.
New faces, unknown personalities, lack of knowledge about who provides support will impacts on a
child 's confidence, ability to interact, be comfortable and relax.
This maybe heightened if children are older, teacher is unknown, fear that knocking will direct
unwanted attention to themselves may prevent a child wanting to go/perform this type of task or be
unwilling to enter the room – they may become quiet, withdraw and refuse to participate when asked
for volunteers. Positive relationships can support children across the school by adults making
themselves known to children. Personalities, attitude and approach will reassure the children on the
type of support they could expect.
A permanent, new class environment offers the opportunity to experience different layouts, places
where resources are kept and resource items themselves. Positive relationships can reassure children
that access is the same as they 're already used to. A tour of the new room and its facilities will help
familiarise everyone with what 's

Transition In Early Education
In chapter nine the authors explore the subject of transitions. Transition to the general education
setting is an important process for students in early education. According to the Individuals with
Disabilities Act (IDEA), the transition process is used to ensure that children with disabilities have
opportunities for a free and appropriate public education. The transition process begins when a child
turns two years old. The family and the early childhood service providers will to establish goals for
the child and create the child's Individualized Family Service plan (IFSP). An important part of the
IFSP will be identifying the preschool program and/or community service program that will be the
best option for the student. Some of the programs

Key Transitional Moment Into Adulthood
In legal terms of our society, an individual is not an adult until eighteen years of age. Opposingly, I
don't necessarily believe being an adult is all about someone's age. Being an adult includes multiple
characteristics, such as responsibility, maturity, and independence. For me, the key transitional
moment into adulthood was passing my driving test and obtaining my license. After this moment I
was obligated to take on the characteristics of an adult, especially when operating a vehicle.
Driving a car is no joke. Cars are powerful machines which, in the wrong hands, can be lethal
weapons. As a driver, it is my responsibility to keep myself, as well as others safe. Driving requires
me to be cognisant at all times and to be responsible

Transition from Early Years Essay
This assignment is based upon my understanding of child development and children's learning,
considering the curriculum for the Early Years and the curriculum for the Early Years Foundation
Stage/Key Stage One. I propose to outline a rationale for effectively continuing children's learning,
from the end of the Early Years Foundation Stage into Year One and include strategies to support
transitions, effective curriculum delivery and links between the EYFS and the National Curriculum.
Throughout the assignment I will refer not only in general but also to how my research has help me
as a practitioner help my setting to effectively continue children's learning.

In addition, simply because a child moves from the Foundation Stage into Key Stage One shouldn't
mean that the curriculum ceases being active. Young children learn best when they are engaged in
worthwhile, hands on experiences. On the same premise, play does not have to end but it needs to
be teacher initiated and led in order to be of much educational value, for instance, children are
unlikely to spell words correctly, if there isn't a teacher to help sound out the letters in the word.
Ros Bayley and Sally Featherstone are writers on teaching and learning have written a book
entitled Smooth Transitions. In it they state 'a three year olds brain is twice as active as an adult
brain and this level of activity continues to the age of 9 or 10. Children develop 50% of their
eventual ability to learn before the age of 4 and another 30% before they are 8. Adult interaction
and physical activity continue to make a massive difference to learning during childhood' When
measuring the difference between boys and girls they found that 'most girls have made sufficient
links to their brains to begin the complex skills of reading and writing by the time they are four and
a half while in most boys it is nearer to six' They also say that research from all over the world

The Importance Of Transitions In My Writing
At the beginning of the semester, I did not really understand what my instructor meant when it came
to transitions. Transitions were most definitely my biggest struggle out of all the things I struggled
with in this class. I also did not know how to use them whatsoever. After reading a little on what
transitions were and how to use them, and also after looking back on my previous writing
assignments, I now realize that I improved drastically on the use of after doing this reading, I was
able to perform better when it came to the use of transitions in my writing. I went from not using
them at all, to using them in nearly every paragraph throughout my writing in this class. My first
essay in this class was the entrance essay. Throughout this...show more content...
I struggled tremendously when it came to transitions, how they work, and how to use them. At the
beginning of this class, I really did not even know what transitions were. In my first work of this
class, the entrance essay, I used no transitions at all. In my Module 4 essay when I wrote about
volunteering and the effects of volunteering, I began to improve on my use of transitions in my
writing. Although it was not much of an improvement, it was still something. I still had much more
learning and improving to do, but I was beginning to actually use transitions and have a better
understanding on what they were and when and how to use them to improve my writing. I also
learned how to make me, at the very least, sound like a better writer by using transitions in my
writing assignments in this class. By the time the midterm came around, I had much more
understanding on how to use transitions. I believe that in my midterm, I used transitions very well.
By that time, I had done a little research and reading on transitions. I can honestly say that at the end
of this class, I have a much better understanding of transitions and I learned how to use them

Transitions In Changing Schools
As a practitioner it is your role to support a child through transitions. Changing schools can be a
dramatic change for a child. A visit to the school would be for a child and parent this will give the
child the opportunity to have a glance at their new surroundings and meet new people including
children in the class and teachers. It is an important time for the parents and practitioners to as it will
give them the opportunity to start parental partnership. A visit from the new teacher going to thechild
's current school/nursery this will give the child more confidence as they are in a common, safe
environment. The child will be more likely to open up about themselves if their somewhere that they
are comfortable with. This will give the practitioner

Transitions Advantages And Disadvantages
There are many parents who want to ensure their children live the best possible life imaginable.
Some lives bring increased challenges through no fault of their own. The struggles life presents can
provide hidden opportunities to not only increase their own quality of life but potentially others. The
hidden values are not always seen by everyone, however that wasn't the case in the creation of
Transitions. Society values demonstrates a mindset that individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum
Disorder or have other nonverbal learning disabilities do not have the potential to live a fulfilled life
comparable to those of average ability. However, that is anything but true. When a parent of an
individual with such diagnoses saw the...show more content...

supports were not available anymore. Fortunately, Shaloni's career and experience offered her the
ability to support and have access to resources to assist her daughter in obtaining the best life
possible (Transitions, 2016). But, what about those parents who don't have the same supports and
resources and want the same opportunities and successful outcome for their child? Transitions has
been developed of offer children and young adults those resources and opportunities ultimately
offering a better quality and fulfilled life.
Transitions is a non–for–profit program under its parent company, Lexington. Lexington is the
Fulton County chapter of the NYSARC, Inc. Lexington survives under the mission of providing the
best possible support to children and adults with disabilities and their families, to be the best possible
employer for its employees and to contribute to the community (About Lexington, 2017). Transitions
functions with the purpose of advancing college and career success for students with learning
differences (Transitions, 2016). There is some congruence of the two mission statements which
shows the successful partnership of the two organizations. The Transitions program itself is a single
site. It is co–located with the Paul Nigra Center for the Arts. The facility had been designed by

Because he thrives and depends on routine, I do my very best to keep it the same. So, on school
days, we get up at the same time, have the same breakfast, and get dressed quickly. Then as a
reward, we usually watch a few minutes of his favorite cartoon.
This difficulty in transitioning through change also applies to my older children. Every Monday
morning, my daughter seems to have a cough or a headache. I know that part of her aversion to
beginning the Monday school routine is part acting, but more than anything it's her reluctance to
move through the change from the weekend back to the weekday. Now that I understand her
challenge with change, I help her. I usually play along and tell her to get dressed and let's just "try

Children Through Transitions
When children and young people are going through transitions it can be very positive for them if
they have strong relationships with people who can support them through the process. Children will
need consistency and a good bond, whether it is with a parent, teacher or key worker as this will
make the transition easier.

Preschool Classroom Transitions
Transitions are a fundamental part of any classroom, but they are particularly prevalent in preschool
classrooms. The effective management of classroom transitions has many positive effects, such as
increasing available instruction time and decreasing opportunities for problematic behavior to arise.
The article classifies management strategies into three categories: environmental arrangements,
antecedent interventions, and peer–mediated procedures. One of the things that falls under
environmental arrangements is the class schedule. As the article indicates and as I have seen in
observations of preschool classrooms, the posted daily schedule does not typically include transition
time from one activity to the next. This can be chaotic for

Transitioning Process

a high school level to the more challenging and more complex college level may be difficult for
some to do for many reasons. The way our study skills required to be successful, demands of
classes, and the new challenges we face change substantially as a part of the new experience we
all deal with in different ways. One could say they have no problem with one subject, such as

to be successful for ourselves, realizing each person is different. For me to be successful in Reading

Transition in Early Years
There are many issues that cause life stress to children and their families e.g. bereavement, separation
/divorce, long–term illnesses. This report will employ a holistic approach, incorporating life span
development, and will focus on transition within early year's education. It will assist practitioners in
supporting children and their families and will focus on the effect it has on their lives.
Report Summary
Transition within early years education is a major life event that a child and family go through
together. Currently, educational transition is defined as the process of change that children make
from one place or phase of education to overtime, Fabian and Dunlop (2002). Starting school is a
huge step in a child's life. For some...show more content...
Featherstone believes that it can cause worry and stress leading to aggression or withdrawal, all of
which have the potential to impair learning capacity. Leavers et al (1997, pg. 15) describes children
with high levels of well being as feeling "...like fish in water", in their educational environments with
the ability to maximise their learning potential. The EYFS (2006, 37–41) places PSED at the heart
of all learning areas, but thrusts a more explicit emphasis on emotional well–being. Practitioners are
now expected to focus on children's emotional health more directly, enabling children to understand
and manage their feelings. This emphasis extends to working with families in the Every Child
Matters Framework.
Impact on Transition
Letting Go
Feelings of sadness and resistance are common as children prepare to leave a familiar setting
/situation. Some may loose control, cry easily or revert to habits such as, thumb sucking.
Practitioners can assist the child express their emotions by reading stories about children in similar
situations. Practitioners need to acquire patience and compassion for the child and family. The
separation often proves traumatic for parents in need of support and reassurance. Hamilton et al
(2003, pg 16) advise practitioners to be "...patient and understanding".

Transition In The Classroom
5.How did the teacher make the transition from one activity/topic to another?
Mrs. White used transitions sparingly, throughout her lesson. For the first transition,
Mrs. White waited until the students had all of their materials (spirals and pencils) laid out on the
desk before speaking about their assignment. When Mrs. White transitioned from writing to
discussion, she let the timer on her desk go off, and once the students put their pencils down and
were watching her, she proceeded to pull student numbers out of a cup and would have them read
their paragraph to the class. For the last major transition was from this lesson to the beginning of this
lesson, Mrs. White told the students that they would be doing this type of quick–write multiple times
throughout the year, and then asked the students to put their things away, and be prepared to be
separated into groups to do various subjects at the same time.
6.How did the teacher monitor the students' understanding of the material being taught? Did the
teacher engage students in higher order thinking?...show more content...
White monitored the students learning through two major ways. The first way was walking around
the classroom while the students were writing and helping those who were not quite sure as to where
to start. The second major way that Mrs. White monitored her students learning was through the
class discussion that they had at the end of the lesson. This allowed the students and Mrs. White to
hear what that particular student thought about the picture and some of the things that they were
able to pinpoint that other students might not have seen. Mrs. White did engage in high order
thinking questions, a few that she used, were, "Why did you think that?" and, "What caused you to
think that about the picture?" This caused the students to tell Mrs. White why they believed what
they believed about the photo, instead of just telling her what they

Transitions are essential part of every person's life but can be harder to adjust in early years. Although in early years' transitions are supported by family, friends and practitioners/carers. Children's early experiences of transitions can have a big effect on how they handle transitions in adult life. Most transitions happen to all children around the same time; but some are personal to individual children and not widely experienced at a young age. • 2. Transitioning For A Child The process of transitioning for a student who is approaching transition age is important because a child is moving on to their next phase in life and that can be difficult, even for a child without ID. However, a child that has ID needs to have steps and guidance in order to be prepared for what is to come. Achild with disabilities will fail or even fall beyond if certain things are not in place. In order for the student to succeed the educational system must provide transition services which should be tailored to the student and their needs. What this looks like is having annual goals and objectives in order to get to the annual goals. This will allow the student to be able to succeed. • 3. Childhood Transition The transition from childhood to adulthood is a defining phase in the lives of many people. For some, it involves tradition and celebration; while for others it occurs in a defining moment. For me, the transition was a gradual process involving growth through leadership in middle school and high school. As a young child in elementary school, I was very shy and anxious about everything. As I continued to grow older, I started to grow out of my introverted nature with the help of my friends, teachers, and family. In fact, I started to go in the opposite direction and became more outgoing. This trend continued into middle school as I decided to try to run for student council, thinking that it would help me grow and become more popular. After I won a narrow election and began my work in the council, I realized that it would drastically change my life. Throughout my years in the middle school student council, I slowly learned the lessons of leadership, responsibility, and problem solving in a more realistic setting. These...show more content... Fredrickson, stated that leadership is a lifestyle. Initially, I did not think much of this. However, as I continued through my freshman year, I slowly realized the truth in that statement. My classmates looked to me for someone to follow. My teachers held me to a higher standard as a leader, and the administration saw me as an effective student body representative. I began to take a bigger role in school, especially as an interviewer for the superintendent and assistant principal positions. I also pushed to new levels of leadership in student council. As a sophomore, I became the Central Division Delegate–at–Large with the help of my advisor and fellow council members. All of these experiences gave me more lessons in leadership and responsibility and taught me many life skills, including the ability to compromise, speak in public, and make new friends and Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 5. Transitions Of The Early Years This essay will cover transitions in the early years. It will discuss a diverse range of transitions, which each child may encounter during their early years of life. It will discuss different types of transitions such as horizontal and vertical transitions, with reference to appropriate theorists such as Bowlby and Ainsworth's and their research on the attachment theory. The last section of the essay will show a high quality policy and procedure, going into detail on how it will support a child in the transition from pre–school in a nursery setting, to reception in a primary school. Transitions are commonly described as different phases of concentrated learning and enhanced development in a social context. (Dunlop et al, 2007). There are three types of transitions, each have a different meaning. Vertical transitions describe a major change in a child's life, for example, moving from pre–school, to the reception class in a school. Internal transitions occur when a child moves to a different room in a setting, for example, from a toddler room to a pre–school room, or reception to year 1. Horizontal transitions is a much broader term, they occur on a day–to–day basis, for example from their house to nursery, having multiple carers in one day, encountering unfamiliar people and many more. (O'Connor, 2013). "Development is all about transitions: conception to birth, birth to toddlerhood, to pre–schooler, school–age child, to adolescent, adolescent to adult, adult to the final Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 7. The Various Types Of Transitions The 4 types of transitions are Emotional – personal experiences such as parent 's separating, bereavement, beginning or leaving a place of care. Physical – change in environments Intellectual – maturation, moving from one educational establishment to another. Physiological – puberty or medical conditions. Moving into a new nursery or classroom is a big transition for children like getting a new teacher, class mates, class, new room and way of working. New faces, unknown personalities, lack of knowledge about who provides support will impacts on a child 's confidence, ability to interact, be comfortable and relax. This maybe heightened if children are older, teacher is unknown, fear that knocking will direct unwanted attention to themselves may prevent a child wanting to go/perform this type of task or be unwilling to enter the room – they may become quiet, withdraw and refuse to participate when asked for volunteers. Positive relationships can support children across the school by adults making themselves known to children. Personalities, attitude and approach will reassure the children on the type of support they could expect. A permanent, new class environment offers the opportunity to experience different layouts, places where resources are kept and resource items themselves. Positive relationships can reassure children that access is the same as they 're already used to. A tour of the new room and its facilities will help familiarise everyone with what 's Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 9. Key Transitional Moment Into Adulthood In legal terms of our society, an individual is not an adult until eighteen years of age. Opposingly, I don't necessarily believe being an adult is all about someone's age. Being an adult includes multiple characteristics, such as responsibility, maturity, and independence. For me, the key transitional moment into adulthood was passing my driving test and obtaining my license. After this moment I was obligated to take on the characteristics of an adult, especially when operating a vehicle. Driving a car is no joke. Cars are powerful machines which, in the wrong hands, can be lethal weapons. As a driver, it is my responsibility to keep myself, as well as others safe. Driving requires me to be cognisant at all times and to be responsible Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Transition from Early Years Essay This assignment is based upon my understanding of child development and children's learning, considering the curriculum for the Early Years and the curriculum for the Early Years Foundation Stage/Key Stage One. I propose to outline a rationale for effectively continuing children's learning, from the end of the Early Years Foundation Stage into Year One and include strategies to support transitions, effective curriculum delivery and links between the EYFS and the National Curriculum. In it they state 'a three year olds brain is twice as active as an adult brain and this level of activity continues to the age of 9 or 10. Children develop 50% of their eventual ability to learn before the age of 4 and another 30% before they are 8. Adult interaction and physical activity continue to make a massive difference to learning during childhood' When measuring the difference between boys and girls they found that 'most girls have made sufficient links to their brains to begin the complex skills of reading and writing by the time they are four and a half while in most boys it is nearer to six' They also say that research from all over the world Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. The Importance Of Transitions In My Writing At the beginning of the semester, I did not really understand what my instructor meant when it came to transitions. Transitions were most definitely my biggest struggle out of all the things I struggled with in this class. I also did not know how to use them whatsoever. After reading a little on what transitions were and how to use them, and also after looking back on my previous writing assignments, I now realize that I improved drastically on the use of after doing this reading, I was able to perform better when it came to the use of transitions in my writing. At the beginning of this class, I really did not even know what transitions were. In my first work of this class, the entrance essay, I used no transitions at all. In my Module 4 essay when I wrote about volunteering and the effects of volunteering, I began to improve on my use of transitions in my writing. Although it was not much of an improvement, it was still something. I still had much more learning and improving to do, but I was beginning to actually use transitions and have a better understanding on what they were and when and how to use them to improve my writing. I also learned how to make me, at the very least, sound like a better writer by using transitions in my writing assignments in this class. By the time the midterm came around, I had much more understanding on how to use transitions. I believe that in my midterm, I used transitions very well. By that time, I had done a little research and reading on transitions. I can honestly say that at the end of this class, I have a much better understanding of transitions and I learned how to use them Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Some lives bring increased challenges through no fault of their own. The struggles life presents can provide hidden opportunities to not only increase their own quality of life but potentially others. The hidden values are not always seen by everyone, however that wasn't the case in the creation of Transitions. So, on school days, we get up at the same time, have the same breakfast, and get dressed quickly. Then as a reward, we usually watch a few minutes of his favorite cartoon. This difficulty in transitioning through change also applies to my older children. Every Monday morning, my daughter seems to have a cough or a headache. I know that part of her aversion to beginning the Monday school routine is part acting, but more than anything it's her reluctance to move through the change from the weekend back to the weekday. Now that I understand her challenge with change, I help her. I usually play along and tell her to get dressed and let's just "try school for the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 17. Preschool Classroom Transitions Transitions are a fundamental part of any classroom, but they are particularly prevalent in preschool classrooms. The effective management of classroom transitions has many positive effects, such as increasing available instruction time and decreasing opportunities for problematic behavior to arise. The article classifies management strategies into three categories: environmental arrangements, antecedent interventions, and peer–mediated procedures. One of the things that falls under environmental arrangements is the class schedule. As the article indicates and as I have seen in observations of preschool classrooms, the posted daily schedule does not typically include transition time from one activity to the next. Leavers et al (1997, pg. 15) describes children with high levels of well being as feeling "...like fish in water", in their educational environments with the ability to maximise their learning potential. The EYFS (2006, 37–41) places PSED at the heart of all learning areas, but thrusts a more explicit emphasis on emotional well–being. Practitioners are now expected to focus on children's emotional health more directly, enabling children to understand and manage their feelings. This emphasis extends to working with families in the Every Child Matters Framework. • 20. Transition In The Classroom 5.How did the teacher make the transition from one activity/topic to another? Mrs. White used transitions sparingly, throughout her lesson. For the first transition, Mrs. White waited until the students had all of their materials (spirals and pencils) laid out on the desk before speaking about their assignment. When Mrs. White transitioned from writing to discussion, she let the timer on her desk go off, and once the students put their pencils down and were watching her, she proceeded to pull student numbers out of a cup and would have them read their paragraph to the class. For the last major transition was from this lesson to the beginning of this lesson, Mrs. White told the students that they would be doing this type of quick–write multiple times throughout the year, and then asked the students to put their things away, and be prepared to be separated into groups to do various subjects at the same time. 6.How did the teacher monitor the students' understanding of the material being taught? Did the teacher engage students in higher order thinking?...show more content... White monitored the students learning through two major ways. The first way was walking around the classroom while the students were writing and helping those who were not quite sure as to where to start. The second major way that Mrs. White monitored her students learning was through the class discussion that they had at the end of the lesson. This allowed the students and Mrs. White to hear what that particular student thought about the picture and some of the things that they were able to pinpoint that other students might not have seen. Mrs. White did engage in high order thinking questions, a few that she used, were, "Why did you think that?" and, "What caused you to think that about the picture?" This caused the students to tell Mrs. White why they believed what they believed about the photo, instead of just telling her what they Get more content on HelpWriting.net
