Basic Definitions 
 Business group (BG) 
• Business Group is a part of an organization treated as a separate entity, usually 
based on the kind of business done by the unit or Service Segmentation. 
• Nomenclature may be Business group, Business Unit, Division, Section 
For example: 
 Enterprise Application Services (ERP Group) 
 E-Biz 
 CRM

Basic Definitions (Contd.) 
• An Organization Unit is a subset of a Business Group formed based on the 
location, customer or product within a business group. 
• Nomenclature may be Global Development Center (GDC), Offshore development 
Center (ODC), Strategic Business unit (SBU) 
For example: 
 SAP, BaaN, JDEdwards 
 Portals, e-commerce, Pune 
 Siebel

 Delivery Unit (DU) 
Basic Definitions (Contd.) 
• A division which will be heading many teams can be termed as a Delivery 
Unit. This Unit can have teams from various departments based on the project 
requirement. 
For example: 
 Cost Center

 Delivery Team (DT) 
Basic Definitions (Contd.) 
• A set of resources working for a specific deliverable/ milestone/ release can is 
termed as a Delivery Team. Multiple Delivery Teams can be associated under a 
Delivery Unit. 
For example: 
 Testing team 
 QA team

Organization Structure 
Whizible SEM helps you to maintain the hierarchy of organization structure as follows: 
• Business Group (BG): 
BG is based upon similar business 
types or service segmentation. 
• Organization Unit (OU): 
OU is based on the location, customer 
or product within a business group. 
• Delivery Unit (DU): 
A division which will be heading many 
teams can be termed as a Delivery Unit. 
• Delivery Team (DT): 
A set of resources working for a 
specific sub project / modules / 
deliverable / release can be termed as a 
Delivery Team.

Corporate > Structure

• Click the Show 
Organization Structure 
link to view the 
Organization Structure in 
one of the seven formats, 
viz., PDF, Excel, HTML, 
RTF, CSV, Text, XML. 
• Use the Show Structure 
link to view structure of 
the Business Group in 
any of the above-mentioned 
formats. 
• Use Add link to define 
new business group.

Creation of Business Group (BG) 
• Define a new Business 
Group on the screen 
opening when clicked on 
Add. 
• Every Business group is 
to be identified with a 
unique Group Code and 
name. E.g.: Enterprise 
Applications - EA, Enterprise 
Integration – EI etc. 
• Map Organization Unit to 
the BG under the 
Associated Organization 
Unit tab, which appears 
on saving the Business 
Group definition.

Associating Organization Unit To Business Group 
• You have a facility to 
map the Organization 
Units linked with the 
BG under the 
Associated 
Organization Unit tab. 
• Click Add Existing to 
map OUs defined for 
other BG. 
• Click Add New link, to 
define new OUs for the 
BG. 
• Multiple Organization 
Units (OUs) can be 
associated with a 
single Business Group 
vice versa single OU 
can be associated with 
multiple BGs. 
Select the OU to be 
mapped with the BG 
Provide an unique 
identification code and 
name Organization Unit.

Associating Delivery Unit To Organization Unit 
• When you map a newly 
defined OU to a BG, you 
have a choice to associate 
a Delivery Unit (DU) to the 
OU. 
• Click Delivery Unit link to 
open a new window that 
enlists any of the existing 
Delivery Units. 
Example of DU: Support, 
Presales. 
• Delivery Units are mainly 
responsible for the 
releases/ deliverables/ 
milestones agreed to be 
delivered to the Customer 
in fixed time frame. 
Provide an unique 
identification code and 
name for Delivery Unit

Association of Delivery Team To Delivery Unit 
• After Adding the 
Delivery Unit (DU), it 
will be listed on the 
default page of 
Delivery Units. 
• Click the DU Name 
link to associate 
Delivery Teams to the 
DU. 
• A DU can have 
multiple Delivery 
Teams (DT).

configuring BG under 
CONFIGURATION > 
Corporate > Business 
Group node. 
• Configuration of 
Business Group involves 
following: 
 Edit Business Group 
details. 
 Association of 
Organization Units 
 Adding Business Group 
Managers 
 Adding Middle Level 
Resources 
 Assigning Global 
Projects 
• Use the Add link under 
Organization Unit tab to 
associate additional OUs 
to the BG. 
Select an OU 
to map with 
the BG

Adding Middle Level Resources 
• Associate middle level 
resources under Middle 
Level Resources tab. 
• These resources will have 
an access to all the 
projects of the BG.

Defining Business Group Managers 
• Configure BG Managers 
under Business Group 
Managers tab. 
• Manager drop down is 
populated with the names of 
all high level and middle level 
resources in the organization. 
• Is Primary Responsible 
checkbox indicates that the 
selected resource is the main 
responsible person under this 
particular BG. 
• Responsibilities associated 
with the selected manager are 
displayed under 
Responsibilities column. 
NOTE: 
 Responsibilities associated with 
the managers are populated from 
CONFIGURATION > Corporate > 
Role 
Select a Middle or High 
level resource as 
Business Group Manager

Assigning Global Projects 
• You can assign Global Projects to the 
Business Group under Assign Global 
Projects tab. 
• Project Name drop down enlists all 
Global Projects defined under 
CONFIGURATION > Configuration > 
Global Projects. 
NOTE: 
 Once a global project is assigned to a BG it will 
not be listed under Project Name drop down. 
 A global project, once assigned to a role under 
CONFIGURATION > Corporate > Role 
, is applicable to all the Business Groups and 
Organization Units, hence not listed in the drop 
down. 
• Use Apply Now to assign resources of 
the BG to the selected Global Project. 
• To release all resources of the BG from 
the Global Project, delete the Global 
Project from Assign Global Projects tab.

• These resources will have an

Defining Organization Unit Managers 
• Configure the OU Managers 
under the OU Managers tab. 
• The Manager drop down is 
populated with the names of all 
high level and middle level 
resources. 
• Is Primary Responsible checkbox 
indicates that the selected 
resource is the main responsible 
person under this particular OU. 
• Once manager is added 
responsibilities associated with 
him are displayed under 
Responsibilities column.

Configuring Holidays for OU 
• To define holidays for the OU go 
to the Holidays tab. 
• Holiday Name drop down lists the 
master list of Holidays defined 
under CONFIGURATION > 
Corporate > Holiday. 
• Holidays configured here will be 
referred at the time of 
 Task Creation 
 Resource Loading 
 Calculating Resource Utilization 
• The OU holidays defined at the 
OU level override the corporate 
holidays.

• Select the Document

with the OU under 
Document Categories

Assigning Global Projects 
• You can assign Global Projects to the 
Organization Unit under Assign Global 
Projects tab. 
• Project Name drop down enlists all 
Global Projects defined under 
CONFIGURATION > Configuration > 
Global Projects. 
NOTE: 
 Once a global project is assigned to a OU it will 
not be listed under Project Name drop down. 
 A global project, once assigned to a role under 
CONFIGURATION > Corporate > Role, is 
applicable to all the Business Groups and 
Organization Units, hence not listed in the drop 
down. 
• Use Apply Now to assign resources of 
the OU to the selected Global Project. 
• To release all resources of the OU from 
the Global Project, delete the Global 
Project from Assign Global Projects tab.

Basic Definitions  Business group (BG) • Business Group is a part of an organization treated as a separate entity, usually based on the kind of business done by the unit or Service Segmentation. • Nomenclature may be Business group, Business Unit, Division, Section For example:  Enterprise Application Services (ERP Group)  E-Biz  CRM © Compulink Systems Ltd.   • 4.  Organization Unit (OU) Basic Definitions (Contd.) • An Organization Unit is a subset of a Business Group formed based on the location, customer or product within a business group. • Nomenclature may be Global Development Center (GDC), Offshore development Center (ODC), Strategic Business unit (SBU) For example:  SAP, BaaN, JDEdwards  Portals, e-commerce, Pune  Siebel © Compulink Systems Ltd.   • 6.  Delivery Team (DT) Basic Definitions (Contd.) • A set of resources working for a specific deliverable/ milestone/ release can is termed as a Delivery Team. Organization Structure Whizible SEM helps you to maintain the hierarchy of organization structure as follows: • Business Group (BG): BG is based upon similar business types or service segmentation. • Organization Unit (OU): OU is based on the location, customer or product within a business group. • Delivery Unit (DU): A division which will be heading many teams can be termed as a Delivery Unit. • Delivery Team (DT): A set of resources working for a specific sub project / modules / deliverable / release can be termed as a Delivery Team. Structure (Contd.) • You can maintain the hierarchy in your organization under CONFIGURATION > Corporate > Structure node. • Click the Show Organization Structure link to view the Organization Structure in one of the seven formats, viz., PDF, Excel, HTML, RTF, CSV, Text, XML. • Use the Show Structure link to view structure of the Business Group in any of the above-mentioned formats. • Use Add link to define new business group. © Compulink Systems Ltd.   • 12. Creation of Business Group (BG) • Define a new Business Group on the screen opening when clicked on Add. • Every Business group is to be identified with a unique Group Code and name. E.g.: Enterprise Applications - EA, Enterprise Integration – EI etc. • Map Organization Unit to the BG under the Associated Organization Unit tab, which appears on saving the Business Group definition. © Compulink Systems Ltd. Associating Organization Unit To Business Group • You have a facility to map the Organization Units linked with the BG under the Associated Organization Unit tab. • Click Add Existing to map OUs defined for other BG. • Click Add New link, to define new OUs for the BG. • Multiple Organization Units (OUs) can be associated with a single Business Group vice versa single OU can be associated with multiple BGs. Select the OU to be mapped with the BG Provide an unique identification code and name Organization Unit. Add Existing Add New © Compulink Systems Ltd. All Rights Reserved. 13

Associating Delivery Unit To Organization Unit • When you map a newly defined OU to a BG, you have a choice to associate a Delivery Unit (DU) to the OU. • Click Delivery Unit link to open a new window that enlists any of the existing Delivery Units. Example of DU: Support, Presales. • Delivery Units are mainly responsible for the releases/ deliverables/ milestones agreed to be delivered to the Customer in fixed time frame. Provide an unique identification code and name for Delivery Unit © Compulink Systems Ltd. All Rights Reserved. 14

Association of Delivery Team To Delivery Unit • After Adding the Delivery Unit (DU), it will be listed on the default page of Delivery Units. • Click the DU Name link to associate Delivery Teams to the DU. • A DU can have multiple Delivery Teams (DT). © Compulink Systems Ltd. Configuration Of Business Group (BG) • The next step is configuring BG under CONFIGURATION > Corporate > Business Group node. • Configuration of Business Group involves following:  Edit Business Group details.  Association of Organization Units  Adding Business Group Managers  Adding Middle Level Resources  Assigning Global Projects • Use the Add link under Organization Unit tab to associate additional OUs to the BG. Mark Select check box to associate the resource with the BG Adding Middle Level Resources • Associate middle level resources under Middle Level Resources tab. • These resources will have an access to all the projects of the BG. • Following activities of the BG come under the purview of these resources …  Project Approval  Resource Allocation NOTE:  This is applicable only if the Is Project Approver and Resource Allocator check boxes are marked under CONFIGURATION > Corporate > Role © Compulink Systems Ltd. Defining Business Group Managers • Configure BG Managers under Business Group Managers tab. • Manager drop down is populated with the names of all high level and middle level resources in the organization. • Is Primary Responsible checkbox indicates that the selected resource is the main responsible person under this particular BG. • Responsibilities associated with the selected manager are displayed under Responsibilities column. NOTE:  Responsibilities associated with the managers are populated from CONFIGURATION > Corporate > Role Select a Middle or High level resource as Business Group Manager © Compulink Systems Ltd. Assigning Global Projects • You can assign Global Projects to the Business Group under Assign Global Projects tab. • Project Name drop down enlists all Global Projects defined under CONFIGURATION > Configuration > Global Projects. NOTE:  Once a global project is assigned to a BG it will not be listed under Project Name drop down.  A global project, once assigned to a role under CONFIGURATION > Corporate > Role , is applicable to all the Business Groups and Organization Units, hence not listed in the drop down. • Use Apply Now to assign resources of the BG to the selected Global Project. • To release all resources of the BG from the Global Project, delete the Global Project from Assign Global Projects tab. © Compulink Systems Ltd. Adding Middle Level Resources • Assign Middle level resources to the projects in the OU under the Middle Level Resources tab. • These resources will have an access to all the projects of the OU. • Following activities of the BG come under the purview of these resources …  Project Approval  Resource Allocation NOTE:  This is applicable only if the Is Project Approver and Resource Allocator check boxes are marked under CONFIGURATION > Corporate > Role  A Middle level resource assigned to a BG will not be available for assignment on the OU. © Compulink Systems Ltd. Defining Organization Unit Managers • Configure the OU Managers under the OU Managers tab. • The Manager drop down is populated with the names of all high level and middle level resources. • Is Primary Responsible checkbox indicates that the selected resource is the main responsible person under this particular OU. • Once manager is added responsibilities associated with him are displayed under Responsibilities column. Configuring Holidays for OU • To define holidays for the OU go to the Holidays tab. • Holiday Name drop down lists the master list of Holidays defined under CONFIGURATION > Corporate > Holiday. • Holidays configured here will be referred at the time of  Task Creation  Resource Loading  Calculating Resource Utilization • The OU holidays defined at the OU level override the corporate holidays. © Compulink Systems Ltd. Assigning Global Projects • You can assign Global Projects to the Organization Unit under Assign Global Projects tab. • Project Name drop down enlists all Global Projects defined under CONFIGURATION > Configuration > Global Projects. NOTE:  Once a global project is assigned to a OU it will not be listed under Project Name drop down.  A global project, once assigned to a role under CONFIGURATION > Corporate > Role, is applicable to all the Business Groups and Organization Units, hence not listed in the drop down. • Use Apply Now to assign resources of the OU to the selected Global Project. • To release all resources of the OU from the Global Project, delete the Global Project from Assign Global Projects tab. © Compulink Systems Ltd. Configuration of Delivery Team (DT) • All the Delivery Teams defined in the corporate Structure are listed under Delivery Team node. • While configuring DT, you should select Delivery Team Head. • Delivery Team Head drop down is populated with the names of High and Middle level resources. • The selected resource will be heading the Delivery Team & mainly responsible from the resource allocation point of view. © Compulink Systems Ltd.
