2. My media product is a music magazine. I created the front cover,
contents page and double page spread for one issue. I created an indie
magazine that focused on women in the music industry in order to
appeal and engage more women, as most music magazines are
stereotypically aimed at men. My magazine is called A.M.P., which
standards for Alternative Music Press, to relate to how it is an
alternative music magazine.
3. My target audience would consist of both men and women aged 16 to
24. This is because, whilst researching I discovered that, the indie
subculture is largest in this age group and I have created an indie
magazine. They would be from the psychographic explorer. This is due
to how love finding new music. They would also be rebels as it relates
to the alternative nature of indie music. Due to their younger age they
would be in the socio-economic groups Cd, D, and E. I would expect my
audience to have or be in some form of higher education, as the
indie/alternative subculture is similar to the punk culture, due to what
the music is about, therefore they tend to be intellectual. My target
audience would be outgoing, enjoy going to gigs and festivals and
looking for new music.
4. My secondary audience would be older males and females aged 26 to
34. My magazine would appeal to them as they would still listen to
music in the indie genre, and therefore would want to buy music
magazines about this genre. They would be of a higher socioeconomic
group of B, C1 and C2, as they are older and therefore working.
Similarly to my target audience they would have a passion for music
and enjoy going to gigs. This explains why they would buy my
magazine, as it is features many sections of gigs.
