2. MODEL OF THE UNITED NATIONS
TOPIC: SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
1) Definition of sustainable development:
Is a comprehensive process that requires different actors of society commitments
and responsibilities in the application of the economic, political, environmental and
social as well as in consumption patterns that determine the quality of life.
The World Commission on Environment and Development, established by
the United Nations in 1983, defined sustainable development as “a development
that meets present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to
meet their own needs”.
Sustainable development implies to pass in development thinking in
quantitative terms - based on economic growth - to a qualitative, establishing close
links between economic, social and environmental issues in a newly democratic
and participatory institutional framework capable of tapping the opportunities that
advance simultaneously in these three areas, no progress means going to a
deterioration of another.
2) Sustainable development in Jalisco.
The Ministry of Environment for Sustainable Development (SEMADES) is the
agency responsible for regulating and formulating environmental policy and
establishing criteria for sustainable development programs of the State, promoting
the protection, preservation and restoration of natural resources of the entity
prevention and reduction of environmental pollution in accordance with the
distribution of powers established by federal and state laws applicable to the
subject.
SEDER boost competitiveness in the aquaculture and fisheries sector,
through investment promotion, technology transfer and increasing the capabilities
and skills of rural people. The Institute of Aquaculture and Fisheries of the State of

With the impetus provided by the Institute of Aquaculture and Fisheries of
the State of Jalisco, it will strengthen the competitiveness of the aquaculture and
fisheries sector, through investment promotion, technology transfer and increasing
the capabilities and skills of rural people.
Strategic projects for the sustainable development of Jalisco:
The agro parks will be spaces with specialized infrastructure for protected crops.
The Added Value Center was established in the municipality of Lagos de Moreno
Because of the importance of agricultural production in the region of the Altos de
Jalisco.
3) Proposals for the solution of the problem:
· Promote more the culture and education; so that will be more people with studies
and committed with their country.
· That everyone will do their part and give more than that, so that we can make a
difference and upgrade on the development of our country.
· Make know the wonders of Mexico, their wealth in different fields, so the people
can show interest in our Mexico, and we will increase.
· Reflect to the people, of the reality of the sustainable development and the
benefits that all get as a society, will be easier if we put our help and we will be
development effectively.
