Método de planificación que se basa en seguir una secuencia lógica y razonada de las tareas o procesos a planificar. El mismo es una herramienta útil para la elaboración de planes de forma metódica y estandarizada.

“PLANNING BY TASKS OR LOGICAL PROCESSES”
● The planning by tasks or logical processes is a method that is based on
"logical sequences" based on reason, for the accomplishment of the tasks
or processes.
● This technique is easy to understand if we know the tasks or processes to be
planned, because the activities usually have a direct dependence on each
other.
● This type of planning is not related to organizational needs, but to the
logical process of execution.
● The method of planning by logical processes, is widely applicable to the
development of standardized projects or processes.

The method of planning by tasks or logical processes, is developed by a sequence
of steps that allow the systemic use of the same and achieve a simple
standardization of the technique..
The steps are:
Step 1: Make a list of tasks or processes (items).
Step 2: Organize tasks (items) by logical processes.
Step 3: Estimate the duration of each item.
Step 4: Planning visualization.
Step 5: Planning adjustment.
Step 6: Planning control.

Next, the method of planning by tasks or logical processes will be developed. For a
better understanding of it, we will use as an example the Planning of a family
dinner, which has as its only condition that it should start at 9.30 pm.
NOTE:
The simplicity of the activity to be exemplified, is intended to recognize the steps
of the method and then to be able to apply it in more complex activities.

Step 1: Make a list of tasks or processes (items).
In this step, a list of the possible tasks or activities that will be part of the planning
must be made, not necessarily at this point they must be in logical order, since in this
step they only list as the planners detect the possible Tasks to be performed.
EXAMPLE:
List of tasks or processes that would be necessary to make a family dinner:
• Buy foods.
• Prepare the place for dinner.
• Define aspects of the dinner.
• Elaborate the food.
• Make foods list to buy.

Step 2: Organize tasks (items) by logical processes.
Once the list of all the possible tasks to be included in the planning (step 1) has
been drawn up, it is here that a sequential logical ordering of the tasks is carried out.
List of tasks or processes: Ordered list of tasks or processes:
3. Buy foods.
5. Prepare the place for dinner.
1. Define aspects of the dinner.
4. Elaborate the food.
2. Make foods list to buy.
1. Define aspects of the dinner.
2. Make foods list to buy.
3. Buy foods.
4. Elaborate the food.
5. Prepare the place for dinner.
NOTE: logical ordering will depend on the knowledge that the
planners have about the processes and the works to be
planned.

Step 3: Estimate the duration of each item.
Once the tasks or processes are ordered in a sequential and logical manner (step
2), a time must be estimated for the execution of each one of them. In more complex
work, this estimate must be based and supported by statistical data in order to be
able to apply improvement processes.
Ordered list of tasks or processes: Time (minutes):
1. Define aspects of the dinner ……………………. 05 min.
2. Make foods list to buy …………………..………... 10 min.
3. Buy foods ………………………………… ………. 90 min.
4. Elaborate the food ………………………………. . 60 min.
5. Prepare the place for dinner …………………….. 20 min.

Step 4: Planning visualization.
There are a variety of ways to represent a planning, although in this case we will
apply the visualization by Gantt Diagrams, which are more representative when it is
possible to do the relation of the tasks and the time of execution of the same.
The abscissa axis
represents the
time, in this case in
weeks.
The ordinate
axis represents
the Tasks.
The Tasks in the
Gantt diagrams
are schematized
by horizontal
bars, where the
length is fixed by
the time it will
demand to
perform it.
The arrows indicate the
dependency between
tasks.

Step 4: Planning visualization.
Continuing our example of the family dinner, and using to visualize the tasks a
Gantt diagram, this would look like this:
Planning of a family dinner.
Placing one task followed to the other, the planning
should begin at 18:25 hrs so that it completes at 21:30
hrs, time set as the initial condition of the example.
Define aspects of the dinner
Make foods list to buy
Buy foods
Elaborate the food
Prepare the place for dinner

Step 5: Planning adjustment.
The initial planning can be adjusted to the available situations and means, in this
case we assume that the last two tasks can be simultaneous:
Making this adjustment to the planning, we
managed to reduce the execution time in 20
minutes, and can start at 18:45 hrs.
Define aspects of the dinner
Make foods list to buy
Buy foods
Elaborate the food
Prepare the place for dinner

We would achieve a
reduction in the time
of: 20 min.

Paso 6: Planning control.
Finally, to finish with the planning, the control points (milestones) of the same must
be established, these being the partial goals or objectives.
In turn, the control points can be related to the indicators
(which mark the statistical control of the execution of tasks)
as a tool to improve processes.
