What are the procedures in using common equipment in meal preparation?

Why do you think it is important to wash and ironed clothes? Do you know how to wash and ironed
clothes? What are the things you need to remember when ironing or washing clothes?

1. Check the label of every garment before ironing. This is necessary as some fabrics need special care
instructions.
2. The very first step in washing is sorting the clothes of your client. Separate white and light-colored from
dark-colored clothes. Also, they should be sorted according to their material. Wash clothes with heavy
fabrics together and clothes with light fabrics together.

Why is it important to know how to use the right equipment, tool or paraphernalia used in cleaning, laundry
and ironing? Can you show or demonstrate how each of them is used?

Class will be divided into three groups.
Group 1- discuss the procedures of using iron.
Goup 2- discuss the procedures of using washing machine.
Group 3- demonstrate the proper way of using iron.

Why is it important to preheat the flat iron before starting to iron the clothes? How are you going to
separate clothes before starting to wash it?

If you will going to wash your clothes, socks, pants, underwear and your handkerchief, what should be
washed first, thenwhat could be washed together? And what would be washed for the last?

Based on the discussion and activities done, what are the procedures of using common equipment in
cleaning, laundry and ironing?

Directions: Write true if the statement is correct and false if the statement is incorrect.
1. The first step in washing clothes is sorting them according to color and type of garment.
2. Iron should cool down before storing. You will have to wait about 2-5 minutes to let the iron warm
up.
3. Hang each garment that you have ironed to keep it from wrinkling again.
4. The very first step in washing is sorting the clothes of your client.
5. Separate white and light-colored from dark-colored clothes.

1. Occupational health and safety (OHS) is a planned system of working to prevent illness and injury
where you work by recognizing and identifying hazards and risks.

3. To avoid injury and harm to health of salon’s client, it is important that new or inexperienced
workers be adequately trained in OHS.
