13. The developed world has a huge lead over the developing world in
infrastructure but our strategy should be to leapfrog these already
obsolete and crumbling systems with twenty-first century solutions.
That’s what we did with phone systems as developing societies went
right to wireless and will never put in a wired land line system.

39. BURNING
ARIA intends to develop an Autonomous
Aerial System to service the Burning
Man 2013 festival at Black Rock City,
Nevada, USA.
MAN2013 need
Retrofitted shipping containers will serve
as hubs where packages that have been
created using 3D printers will be loaded
on small craft and delivered to locations
across the temporary city autonomously
and continuously for the festival, 24/7.
The node will validate the proof-of-concept
of a reliable system that can provide a
courier service to locations in low humidity
goal
high wind and high temperature for 15
continuous days of operation with:
- Point-to-point delivery of packages.
- Autonomous flight, take-off & landing.
- Easy-to-deploy ground stations.
- All-season flight & system reliability.
