Judge by Elder Tommie Freeman
1. Judging - Judgment - to judge
Are there a time to judge and a time not to? As I started
this article I find it to be a big subject. Let’s look at the
word judge, here is what God told the Judges in the Old
Testament: 2ndChr 19:6 “and said to the judges, Take
heed what you do: for ye judge not for man, but for the
Lord, who [is] with you in the judgment.” Thus, they
were picked to judge not for men but God. Here is what
was said to the princes in Is 1:23. He said they were:
“rebellious and companions of thieves: everyone loved
gifts, and followed after rewards: they judge not the
fatherless; neither doth the cause of the widow come
unto them.” Does this not sound like many PB Elders?
In Jer 5:28 he says: “they are waxen fat, they shine: yea
they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not
the cause, the cause, of the fatherless, yet they prosper;
and the right of the needy do they not judge.”
In Luke 6:37 Jesus says: “judge not, and ye shall
not be judged: condemn not and ye shall not be
condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven.”
2. Therefore, we find that when we try to judge in the old
law way we get in trouble, in Lev 19:15 God says that
they were to judge and show no respect of persons and
they were not to make a deference between the poor or
the rich. This is the way Lev 19:15 reads: “ye shall do no
unrighteousness in judgment: thou shall not respect the
person of the poor or the person of the mighty: [but] in
righteousness shalt thy judge your neighbor.”
