2. Project Mission
The mission of the project is to
develop, promote and implement through
participatory approaches, a
decentralized, cost-effective, renewable
and sustainable bio-energy technology
package to reduce Green House Gas
emissions and also to meet rural energy
requirements.

 Cluster of 24 villages in 9 Panchayats
covering 5 Talukas of Tumkur Dt, KA

 1.2 MW biomass gasifier system
 120 kW community biogas
 45 community biogas (4000m3/day)
 Standardization of Technology packages
 Enhanced Institutional and Financing Capacity
 Case studies and policy documents prepared
and disseminated through policy workshops
 Information Disseminated for replication and
policy impact
 Financial barrier removed and Investment risk

8. Project Details
 Planning & Feasibility study suggested to
run a 1 MW Biomass gasifier plant , 4.2
tonnes/Ha/Year on a 3000 Ha land was
required.
 Implementation stage – Tree plantation
was done in 2930 Ha (1983 Ha of forest
land and 947 Ha of farm land) (30
households employed in this farming)

9. Power plant establishment
 3 clusters
 500 kW – Kabbigere village
 250 kW – Seebanayapalaya
 250 kW – Borigunte
 Power generated is evacuated to
BESCOM
 Tariff set – INR 2.85/kWh
