2. There are loads of Media Players out in the world - freeware, shareware and
commercial, and they all get the job done. So why, you may ask, write another one?
First, because there aren't many written in Java and we wanted to demonstrate what Java
is capable of. Second, it was a good learning experience for us. Finally, because we

ACCESS CONTROL MONITORING SYSTEM
The purpose of this project is to enhance the existing security mechanism in ‘TATA
COMMUNICATION’(VSNL) with the help of access cards.
Each employee of their organization is provided with an access card, which contain
unique codes on it. The codes are read with the help of the card reader and information’s
are stored in the data base. This project helps the organization to provide access to
employees, to calculate attendance and salary etc.

Secured Email Reader For Blind
The project is concerned with converting the web page texts to speech (audible form).
This enables the blind people to access any sites and hear the contents of the current page
and the links. This is made possible using the Linux festival package, which is a text to
speech converter. Festival offers a full text to speech system with various APIs, as well
an environment for development and research of speech synthesis techniques. Besides
research into speech synthesis, festival is useful as a stand-alone speech synthesis
program. It is capable of producing clearly understandable speech from text.
Smart Court
9. The project titled Smart Court is an Interactive Case Tracking System based
on GSM mobile systems. The procedure of Case management is totally new and has not
yet been implemented in Courts across India. The software helps the end users and
Advocates in a common manner in tracking of case updates and Cases posting. When the

Kerala State Electricity Board is the sole distributor of the Electrical Energy for
the state of Kerala. It is also responsible for granting connection and collecting bills from
the consumer. The project entitled Automated Power board
is a project developed to enable the consumer to access the services of kerala State
electricity board online. This site enables the consumer to place connection requests,
complaints, viewing bills, paying bills etc. through online. This helps the board to process
transactions more efficiently, and solidify the interactions with the customers. There are

Secured Data Transmission Through Network
This project "Secured Data Transmission Through Network" handles hiding a secret
message with in an image in such a way that others cannot discern the presence or
contents of the hidden message. A message might be hidden with in an image by
changing Least Significant Bit to be the message bits. Then the image can be transmitted
through Network.
LSB based Steganography is perhaps the most simple and straight forward approach. In
this project we embed the message in to the least significant bit planes of the image.
Since this will only affect each pixel by +/- 1, if at all, it is generally assumed with good
reason that degradation caused by this embedding process would perceptually
transaparent. Hence there are a number of LSB based steganography techniques in the
passive warden model as it difficult to differentate cover-images from stegoimages, given
the small changes that have been made.

14. Here using LSB technique, the information is hidden in the least significant bits of the
image data. By means of server sockets, the image containing information transmitted to
network. Image viewer used to view the normal and stegoimages. Quality measures gives
the variation between original and stegoimage information.
In the receiver side the same software is to be installed. When the image file is opened
the software tells the user whether that contains any hiding information or not. If the
image contains hidden information then client sockets will receive it.

principles:

changes in sound quality, which is especially easy to make use of objects that

E-Greetings
E-greetings is a website where a user chooses from an on-line catalog of e-cards made
available on the web site. After selecting a card, the sender can personalize it to various
degrees by adding a message, photo, or video. Finally the sender specifies the recipient's
e-mail address and the web site delivers an e-mail message on behalf of the sender to the
recipient.
An e-card is similar to a postcard or greeting card; with the primary difference being it is
created using digital media instead of paper or other traditional materials.
E-cards are digital "content", which makes them much more versatile than traditional
greeting cards. For example unlike traditional greetings, e-cards can be easily sent to
many people at once or extensively personalized by the sender. Conceivably they could
be saved to any computer or electronic device or even viewed on a television set;
however E-card digital content has not yet progressed as far as digital video or digital
audio in terms of varied usage.
E-cards can send on the following occasions
Anniversaries: happy birthday, wedding anniversary
Holidays: generic or specific holiday — merry Christmas, happy New Year, Hanukkah,
etc.
Life events: congratulations on graduation, baby shower, wedding
Sympathy: get well, condolences for loss of loved one
Personal sentiments: thank you, I'm sorry, thinking of you, friendship, and love
Existing System
The existing system is sending standard greeting cards by postal method. A standard
greeting card is printed on high-quality paper (such as card stock), and is rectangular and
folded, with a picture or decorative motif on the front. Inside is a preprinted message
appropriate to the occasion, along with a blank space for the sender to add a signature or
handwritten message. A matching envelope is sold with the card. Some cards and
envelopes feature fancy materials, such as gold leaf, ribbons or glitter.
Normally the standard greeting cards are expensive and need to buy individual copies to
each recipient.
Proposed System
The proposed system is a greeting website which contains E-cards that suitable for almost
all occasions. The user can select from the variety of cards and can send them to the
recipient by email.
The e-mail received by the recipient contains not the e-card itself, but an individually
coded link back to the publisher's web site that displays sender's card exactly as it was
originally configured.
Type of E-cards
Postcards
"Postcards" use static (non-moving) images. These were the first type of e-card in use.
The recipient sees a single artistic image, accompanied by a personalized greeting
message.
Flash animation
17. This type of e-card is based on two-dimensional vector animation controlled with a
scripting language. The format is proprietary to Adobe, however, widespread usage of
Adobe's software allows this type of card to be easily viewed on most of today's
computers. The recipient sees an animated short usually 15-30 seconds in duration. The
animation often appears to have a cartoon style due to the nature of the content; however,
some Flash creations can be quite sophisticated and realistic. A sound track usually
accompanies the animation which may contain speech or music.
Flash animated greeting cards can include interactivity, for example, asking the viewer to
choose a picture to animate, however, most Flash e-cards are designed to convey the
sentiment of the sender through simple observation.

MPEG to JPEG Converter
The case study titled “MPEG to JPEG Converter” is software developed in Java on the
Windows platform. This software is used to search the necessary video clips from an MPEG file
depending upon the user’s input. It converts a media file to JPEG frames. The user can select the
required starting and ending frames from the media file being played and save them to a
directory. The details associated with the starting and ending frames are accepted from the user
and stored in the database. In response to the search request of the user the related video clips
will be retrieved and the user can view and save the desired cli from the search results.
The media file is processed and played using JMF player. JMF stands for Java Media
Frame work which is Sun’s initiative to bring time-based media processing to Java. Time-based
media is data that changes meaningfully with respect to time, such as audio and video clips and
animations.
This software is designed to be user friendly. MS access is the used as the back end.
The software should have the facility to:
• Select an MPEG file.
• Save the selected MPEG file in a directory
• Convert the MPEG video to JPEG frames.
• Save the selected starting and ending frames in a directory.
• Store the details of the selected starting and ending frames in the database.
• Accept the description of the video clips to search.
