  2. 2. Augustine Fou- 2 - Basic Privacy Settings Augustine Fou- 2 - Your future posts are “public” by default; you can limit it to just your friends by changing this setting. Facebook has changed default settings to Private; change them back Limit “who can contact me” to friends of friends so bad guys can’t attempt to friend you.
  3. 3. Augustine Fou- 3 - Privacy Settings Augustine Fou- 3 - Review basic privacy settings for your posts and personal information Verify if someone tagged you in photos, etc. Who can see my future posts is set to “public” by default Change who can look you up and see phone, address, etc.
  4. 4. Augustine Fou- 4 - Your “About You” Info Augustine Fou- 4 - Most of this data is now public by default; change these settings to limit who can see your “About You” info Control details of your “About You” section; change from “public” About -> Edit Do not disclose your phone number or home address; or at least set it to not “public”
  5. 5. Augustine Fou- 5 - Your Photos / Albums - 5 - Change visibility of “albums” to “friends” (instead of leaving albums “public”) Albums are defaulted to public; you should limit to friends Photos -> Albums
  6. 6. Augustine Fou- 6 - Active Sessions Augustine Fou- 6 - Remove any unrecognized devices that are accessing your account Review active sessions and recognized devices; remove old ones Account Settings -> Security End any active sessions that you don’t recognize
  7. 7. Augustine Fou- 7 - Third Party Apps Augustine Fou- 7 - Review and revoke unfamiliar apps that have to access your profile Account Settings -> Apps Click “edit” to change permissions Click [x] to remove unknown apps

  9. 9. Augustine Fou- 9 - So What? As more users spend time on social networks and using mobile devices; bad guys have new avenues to siphon personal data from them. Once they assemble a few pieces of information, they can quickly access more, until they can assemble a full profile and steal their identity. Users need to step up their understanding of the new privacy risks and take action immediately. Augustine Fou- 9 - - Dr. Augustine Fou
