1 Safety Precautions
1.1 General Safety Precautions
 This product should be used in the environment that meets design specifications.
Otherwise, the product may be damaged, and the resulting product exceptions or
component damage are beyond the warranty scope.
 Only trained and qualified personnel are allowed to install, operate, and maintain Huawei
equipment.
 Comply with local laws and regulations. The safety instructions in this document are
only supplements to the local laws and regulations.
 Do not operate the device or cables during lightning strikes.
 When maintaining outdoor devices after raining, gently open the cabinet door and clear
water around door seams to prevent sprays from splashing into the cabinet.
 Remove metal objects such as the watch, bracelet, or ring during operations.
 Use insulated tools during operations.
 During installation and maintenance, follow the specified procedure.
 Before you touch any conductor surface or terminal, use an electric meter to measure the
contact point voltage. Ensure that the contact point has no voltage or the voltage is
within the specified range.
 If the power system is not connected to batteries or the battery capacity is insufficient,
the load may power off during maintenance or fault locating.
 Before laying out cables which have been stored in a temperature lower than 0ºC, move
the cables to an environment of the ambient temperature and store them at the ambient
temperature for at least 24 hours.
 After device installation, perform routine check and maintenance according to the user
manual and replace faulty components in a timely manner to ensure secure device
running.
1.2 Electrical Safety
Grounding Requirements
 When installing a device, install the ground cable first. When removing a device, remove
the ground cable last.

 Before operating a device, ensure that the device is properly grounded.
AC and DC Operation Requirements
 The power system is powered by high-voltage power sources. Direct or indirect contact
(through damp objects) with high-voltage power sources may result in serious danger.
 Non-standard and improper operations may result in fire and electric shocks.
 Before electrical connections, turn off the upstream protection switch for the device.
 Before connecting the AC power supply, ensure that electrical connections are complete.
 Before you connect cables to loads or battery cables, check cable and terminal polarities,
preventing reverse connections.
ESD Requirements
 To prevent electrostatic-sensitive components from being damaged by the static on
human bodies, wear a well-grounded ESD wrist strap or gloves when touching circuit
boards.
 When holding a board, hold its edge without components. Do not touch chips.
 Removed boards must be packaged with ESD packaging materials before storage and
transportation.
Liquid Prevention Requirements
 Place this product far away from areas with liquid. Do not place the product under
positions prone to leakage, such as air conditioner vents, ventilation vents, and feeder
windows of the equipment room. Prevent liquid from entering the inside of the device to
avoid short circuits, and ensure that there is no condensation inside the equipment room
or device.
 If detecting any liquid inside the device, immediately disconnect the power supply and
contact the administrator.
1.3 Battery Safety
Before installing, operating, and maintaining batteries, read the instructions provided by the
battery vendor. The safety precautions specified in this document are highly important
precautions that require special attention. For additional safety precautions, see the
instructions provided by the battery vendor.
Basic Requirements
 Before performing installation or maintenance, put on goggles, rubber gloves, and
protective clothing to prevent injury caused by electrolyte overflow.
 When moving batteries, do not turn them upside down or tilt them.
 Keep the battery loop disconnected during installation and maintenance.

 Secure battery cables to a torque specified in the battery documentation. Loose
connections will result in excessive voltage drops or cause batteries to burn out when the
current is high.
 Do not tamper with the explosion-proof valve or vent valve. Otherwise, electrolyte may
leak out.
 Ensure that batteries are from the same manufacturer, of the same model, and in the same
batch. Do not mix old and new batteries together.
 Dispose of waste batteries in strict accordance with local laws and regulations.
 Avoid ingestion of battery components.
 Protect batteries from mechanical vibration, collision, punctures, and strong impact.
Otherwise, the batteries may short-circuit inside, leading to high temperatures and
potential ignition.
 Do not throw batteries in fire or expose batteries to high temperatures for long periods of
time, because this may cause batteries to ignite.
 Do not immerse batteries in water or expose them to rain.
 There is a risk of explosion if a battery is replaced with an incorrect model.
Preventing Battery Short Circuits
Short circuit inside a battery or on the battery loop must be prevented to avoid fire and
prevent personal injury.
If conditions permit, disconnect the batteries in use before performing any other operations on
them.
Preventing Flammable Gas
 Do not use unsealed batteries.
 Lead-acid batteries emit flammable gas when used. Therefore, store these batteries in
well-ventilated areas, and implement fire-prevention measures.
Preventing Battery Leakage

High temperatures may result in battery distortion, damage, or electrolyte overflow.
If the temperature of a lead-acid battery exceeds 60°C, check the battery for electrolyte
overflow. If electrolyte overflow occurs, handle the situation immediately. Avoid moving
batteries with electrolyte leakage to prevent possible injury. Neutralize and absorb the leakage
with sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) or sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) before moving the
batteries.
Protect your skin and eyes from lithium battery electrolyte leakage. If your body comes in
contact with electrolyte leakage, wash with clean water immediately and visit a doctor if the
situation is serious.
Preventing Battery Overdischarge
After you connect batteries, ensure that the battery loop is disconnected before powering on
the power system. This prevents battery overdischarge, which may damage batteries.
Charge batteries that have not been used for a long time to avoid battery overdischarge.
Preventing Battery Overcharge
Do not use battery chargers not approved by Huawei to charge batteries. Otherwise, batteries
may overcharge, which may result in battery overheating or even fire.
1.4 DG Safety
Before installing, operating, and maintaining a diesel generator (DG), read the instructions
provided by the DG vendor. The safety precautions specified in this document are highly
important precautions that require special attention. For additional safety precautions, see the
instructions provided by the DG vendor.

 Do not operate the DG before reading and understanding the instructions and warnings
provided by the DG vendor. Otherwise, personal injury may occur.
 Before performing installation or maintenance, put on a safety helmet, goggles, and other
protective equipment to avoid personal injury.
 During installation and maintenance, strictly follow the instructions provided by the DG
vendor to avoid burns, explosions, and fire.
 Remove all your jewelry and employee cards before installation and maintenance. Tie
your hair back and place it under your helmet to avoid entanglement with any rotating
components (such as a fan or drive bearing) to prevent personal injury or death.
 Keep sparks, open flame, and any other flammable objects away from the DG.
Dispose of harmful waste, such as engine oil, diesel, and coolant, in accordance with local
laws and regulations.
1.5 Cable Layout
 When cables are used in a high temperature environment, the insulation layer may age
and be damaged. Ensure that a sufficient distance exists between the cables and the DC
busbar, shunt, and fuse.
 Signal cables must be bound separately from strong-current cables and high-voltage
cables.
 Cables prepared by the customer must have the fire resistance capability.
 Cables must not pass behind the air exhaust vents of rectifiers in the cabinet.
1.6 Mechanical Safety
Hoisting Devices
Do not walk under cantilevers or raised objects.
 Only trained and qualified personnel are allowed to perform hoisting operations.
 Before hoisting objects, check that all hoisting tools are available and in good condition.
 Before hoisting objects, ensure that hoisting tools are firmly fixed onto a weight-bearing
object or wall.
 Ensure that the angle formed by two cables is less than 90 degrees.

Using a Ladder
 Use only ladders that are in good condition. Find out and do not exceed the maximum
weight capacity.
 The recommended angle for a ladder against another object is 75 degrees. Measure the
gradient with a right angle or your arms, as shown in Figure 1-1. Ensure that the wider
end of the frame is at the bottom, the base cannot slide, and that the ladder is securely
positioned.

 When climbing a ladder:
− Ensure that your body's center of gravity does not shift outside the legs of the
ladder.
− To minimize the risk of falling, steady your balance on the ladder before performing
any operation.
− Do not climb higher than the fourth rung from the top.
To climb onto a roof, ensure that the ladder top is at least one meter higher than the roofline,
as shown in Figure 1-2.

Drilling Holes
Do not drill holes into a cabinet without permission. Non-standard drilling may affect the
electromagnetic shielding of the cabinet and damage interior cables. Metal shards generated
during drilling may short-circuit circuit boards if they get into the cabinet.
 Before drilling holes into a cabinet, remove interior cables.
 Wear goggles and protective gloves when drilling holes.
 After drilling, clean up metal shards immediately.
Moving Heavy Objects
 Be cautious to prevent injury when moving heavy objects.
 Wear protective gloves when moving heavy objects.

Working Principles
The following figure shows the power distribution conceptual diagram for the ACDU.

The DCDU working principles are as follows:
 The ECC500, as the main control module in the DCDU, monitors and schedules the
DCDU.
 The PSU converts AC power into DC power to two independent busbars.
 BAT1- corresponds to the ESU-A route, and BAT2- corresponds to the FCB-A route.
 If the voltages of the ESU-A route of batteries drops to the low voltage disconnection
voltage, the BAT1- route disconnects. If the voltages of the FCB-A route of batteries
drops to the low voltage disconnection voltage, the BAT2- route disconnects. After the
busbar voltage is restored, the power supply to the BAT1- or BAT2- routes is
reconnected.
 The DTS chooses either of the two independent busbars to connect to the DCDB.

Equalization Supports real-time equalization and adaptive equalization:
 Real-time equalization: Equalizes cell capacities to delay
electrochemical cell deterioration and prolong the service
life of cells. Such cell capacity imbalance is caused by the

Bending Radius Requirements
 The bending radius of a power cable or a ground cable should be greater than or equal to
five times its diameter.
 The bending radius of a signal cable should be greater than or equal to five times its
diameter.
Cable Binding Requirements
 Cables of the same type should be bound together.
 Cables of different types must keep a minimum distance of 30 mm from each other.
Cables must not be tangled or twisted.
 Cables that are bound together should be close to each other, neat, and free from damage.
 Cable ties are bound neatly in the same direction. Cable ties at the same horizontal line
must be in a straight line.
 The extra part of each indoor cable tie must be cut off. A slack of 5 mm is reserved for
each outdoor cable tie. All cut surfaces have no sharp edges.
 After cables are installed, labels or nameplates must be attached to both ends, joints, or
turns of the cables.
Safety Requirements
 Cables should be placed away from sharp objects or wall burrs. If inevitable, protect the
cables with protection pipes.
 Cables should be routed away from heat sources, or heat-insulation materials should be
added between cables and heat sources.
 Sufficient slack (about 0.1 mm recommended) should be provided in cables at turns or
the position close to a device, facilitating cable and device maintenance.
Indoor Cable Layout Requirements
 Cables are routed indoors through feeder windows.
 Trap the cable part outside the feeder window according to requirements for the
minimum bending radius.
 When routing a cable into the room, ensure that a person is assisting you in the room.
 Feeder windows must be waterproofed.
Requirements for Laying Out Cables Outdoors
 Outdoor cables must be routed through a pipe to protect them from being damaged.
 AC power cables, transmission cables, and cables buried in the ground must be
protected.
 If cables at the cabinet bottom need to be routed through a pipe along the ground, the
pipe should be routed into the cabinet base for about 30 mm to 50 mm, but not into the
cabinet. The pipe end should be sealed with waterproof tape or silicon gel, and the pipe
should be secured to the cable hole at the cabinet bottom using sheet metal.

 If cables at the cabinet bottom need to be routed through a pipe along a metal cable
trough, the pipe should not be routed into the cabinet base. The cable trough should be
sealed and routed through the cable hole at the cabinet bottom.
 Arrange the cables in order in the routing direction, and install cable clips.
Special Requirements for Laying Out Cables
Power Cable Routing Requirements
 The positions for laying out power cables should be in accordance with the design
drawing.
 If the cable length is insufficient, use another power cable with a sufficient length. No
joint or weld is allowed on a power cable.
 Power cables must be routed by only qualified and trained personnel after all
preparations are made.
 Power cables are straightly routed and not twisted or winded.
Ground Cable Routing Requirements
 Ground cables in a base station should be connected to the same ground bar.
 Ground cables must not be routed in from the overhead. They must be routed
underground or indoors.
 Both ends of the external conductor of a coaxial cable and the shield layer of a shielded
cable should have good electrical contact with the metal shell of the device they connect
to.
 Ground cables and signal cables should be bound separately with a proper distance in
between to avoid interference.
 Circuit breakers or fuses are not allowed on ground cables.
 No devices can be used as a part of ground cables.
 All conductive metal components in the shell should properly connect to protection
ground terminals.

4 Installing the ICC
4.1 Installing the ICC310
Procedure
Step 1 Take the marking-off template out of the cabinet and mark hole positions based on the
marking-off template, as shown in the following figure.

1. Drill a hole on the concrete floor with a depth range of 52 mm to 60 mm using a hammer

2. Partially tighten the expansion bolt and vertically insert it into the hole. Then knock the
expansion bolt completely into the hole using a rubber mallet.
3. Partially tighten the expansion tube.
4. Remove the bolt, spring washer, and flat washer.

Step 3 Hoist the cabinet.
1. Use a flat-head screwdriver to remove the four M12x20 plastic screws from the top of
the cabinet, and then install the lifting eyes in the corresponding holes, as shown in the
following figure.
Reserve the plastic screws for later use.
2. Route lifting slings through the lifting eyes, and then hoist the cabinet, as shown in the
following figure.
3. Place the cabinet onto the concrete floor and align the mounting holes on the cabinet
with those on the concrete floor.
4. Remove the lifting ropes and lifting eyes. Reinstall the four M12x20 plastic screws on
the top of the cabinet using a flat-head screwdriver.

 Do not put your hands into rectifier slots, avoiding electric shocks.
 When a rectifier is running, a high temperature is generated around the air exhaust vent at
the rear. Do not touch the vent or cover the vent with cables or other objects.
 To ensure phase balance, install modules as shown in the following figure.

2. Open the ejector lever on the MUC01A, put the MUC01A at the entry to the slot, and

Step 4 Hoist the cabinet.
1. Remove the four M12x20 plastic screws from the top of the cabinet using a flat-head
screwdriver, and install lifting eyes in the holes.
Properly store the plastic screws for future use.
2. Bind lifting ropes to the lifting eyes and then hoist the cabinet.
3. Place the cabinet onto the concrete floor and align the mounting holes in the cabinet with
those in the concrete floor.
4. Remove the lifting ropes and lifting eyes. Reinstall the four M12x20 plastic screws on
the top of the cabinet using a flat-head screwdriver.

Step 5 Put a level on the cabinet and check the position of the mercury. If the mercury is not in the
middle, the cabinet is not well leveled. Put a spacer between the cabinet and the concrete floor
to level the cabinet.

5.2 Installing Batteries and Battery Cables
Prerequisites
Ensure that batteries are from the same manufacturer, of the same model, and in the same
batch. Do not mix old and new batteries together.
Comply with regulations and warnings of the battery manufacturer.
Before battery installation, ensure that the battery circuit breaker is OFF or that the battery
fuse is disconnected.
The rated battery string voltage must be 48 V, such as twenty-four 2 V batteries or four 12 V
batteries.

 Smoking and sparks are prohibited near batteries.
 Use tools with insulated handles, otherwise, batteries may be burnt out and personal injury
may occur.
 During battery operations, wear goggles, rubber gloves, and protective clothes. Remove
conductive articles such as watches, bracelets, and rings.
 If battery acid gets in the eyes, rinse with cold water for more than 15 minutes and seek
media advice immediately. If battery acid contacts skin or clothing, wash with soap and
water immediately.
 Do not use a metal to simultaneously touch two or more battery terminals or
simultaneously touch a battery terminal and a grounded object (such as the battery
compartment). Otherwise, short circuits will occur, causing sparks or explosion.
 Carry batteries by referring to local regulations. To avoid damages, handle with care when
carrying batteries.
 Place batteries in strict accordance with the figure in this chapter. Otherwise, the batteries
may be short-circuited and damaged.
 During battery installation, never reversely connect positive and negative battery terminals.
Connect the negative battery cable first, and then the positive battery cable.
 Before connecting a battery cable, remove the protective lids or protective covers from
battery terminals, and reinstall them after connecting the cable.
 Secure battery cables to the torque specified in this chapter. Loose battery bolt connections
will cause batteries to be burnt.
5.2.1 Installing an ESM
Prerequisites
Partially tighten bolts first. After connecting all cables to ESMs, tighten the bolts on ESMs to
a reference torque of 3.5–5.0 N.m.

Step 1 Flip all ESM switches to OFF, as shown in the following figure.

6 Installing Cables
6.1 Installing Dry Contact Signal Cables
If the site ECC500 requires dry contact signal cables, perform the following steps to install
the cables.
Procedure
Step 1 Press the contact plate using a flat-head screwdriver to flip the metal spring inside a dry
contact.
Step 2 Connect a signal cable to the dry contact.
Step 3 Check that the signal cable properly connects to the dry contact. Put aside the screwdriver.

6.2.1 Installing ECC500 Communications Cables (IP Networking)
Procedure
Step 1 Connect one end of the communications cable to the FE port on the site monitoring unit 03A
(SMU03A).
Step 2 Route the other end to the network access device through the cable hole on the left side of the
cabinet, as shown in the following figure.

6.2.2 GPRS Networking
Procedure
Step 1 Place the antenna on the top of the cabinet.
Step 2 Connect the antenna cable to the ANT port on the MUC01A.
Before installing an antenna, remove the plastic shell from the antenna installation base to
ensure magnetic adherence.

6.6 Installing DC Output Power Cables (DCDB-01B)
Prerequisites
Switch off all circuit breakers before installing power cables.
Procedure
Step 1 Prepare a suitable length cable based on site requirements. Install a cord end terminal or an
OT terminal on each end of the cable. For details, see A.2 Preparing Terminals.
Step 2 Secure the negative DC output power cable to the corresponding DC output circuit breaker
based on the actual load power.
Step 3 Secure the positive DC output power cable to the corresponding screw on the RTN+ busbar.

6.7 Installing AC Input Power Cables
Prerequisites
 Ensure that the upstream AC input circuit breaker is OFF, and attach labels such as "No
operations allowed."
 Switch off all circuit breakers before installing power cables.
Context
 For the colors and appearances of power cables, site cables prevail.
 Consult Huawei engineers if any of the following conditions occurs:
− You need to use the cables and connectors that you have prepared.
− You need to cut short a power cable.
Procedure

8 Power-on and Commissioning
 The following commissioning procedure may result in power failure or alarm generation.
Inform the alarm center before and after the procedure.
 The commissioning involves various technologies. Only trained personnel are allowed to
perform commissioning. Perform operations strictly in compliance with the manual.
 The commissioning is performed with power-on. During commissioning, stand on dry
insulating objects, and remove conductive articles such as watches and rings. Use
insulated tools.
 During operations, do not contact two electric bodies that have different currents.
 During commissioning, check that the status of the related unit or component meets
requirements before turning on any switch.
 When you are performing operations and do not want others to operate, attach the label
"Do not turn on the switch because operations are in process." to the power distribution
device.
 During commissioning, shut down the device immediately if any fault is detected. Rectify
the fault and proceed with the commissioning.
8.1 Connecting the Mains Supply
Prerequisites
In this scenario, power on and commission the PowerCube 1000 only when the mains power
is normal. If the mains power is unavailable, use a mobile DG to supply AC power.

Procedure
Step 1 Reconnect the cable disconnected from two batteries.
Step 2 Check that the AC input circuit breaker on the ACDU is OFF, and turn on the upstream mains
AC switch for the ACDU.
Step 3 Check that the AC input phase voltage ranges from 85 V AC to 300 V AC using a clamp
meter.
Step 4 Check that the battery string voltage ranges from 44.5 V DC to 57.6 V DC using a clamp
meter.
Step 5 Reinstall battery fuses in the DCDU using a fuse extracting unit.
Before reinstalling a fuse, switch the AC input circuit breaker on the ACDU to OFF.
Otherwise, the fuse will produce sparks during operation.
Step 6 Switch the AC input circuit breaker on the ACDU to ON.
Step 7 Check that the busbar voltage ranges from 44.5 V DC to 57.6 V DC using a clamp meter.

8.3 Connecting the Battery Supply (Lithium-ion Battery)
Procedure
Step 1 Reinstall the fuses in the DCDU using a fuse extracting unit or switch the battery circuit
breaker in the DCDU to ON.
Step 2 Flip the power switches on all ESMUs to ON.
Step 3 After the initial power-on, the system executes automatic initialization to balance the voltage
difference between ESU-As. Check the following items after 30 minutes to see whether the
initialization is complete.
1. The ECC500 operating information displays that the battery status changes from Firston
to Boost Charge or Float Charge.
2. The RUN indicators on all ESMUs blink at long intervals, and the CHG or DCHG
indicators are steady on.
3. The ECC500 displays that the ESS voltage ranges from 50 V DC to 57 V DC.

4. Neither the ECC500 nor the ESMU generates an alarm.
 Typically, the initialization is complete within 15 minutes. If the voltage difference between ESU-As
is great, the initialization may require 3.5 hours.
 You can leave the site only after the initialization is complete.
Step 4 Perform an ESU-A check on the ECC500 and check that the check result represents the actual
number of ESMUs.

8.4 Connecting the Load Supply
Procedure
Step 1 Switch on all load circuit breakers one by one. During the process, measure the busbar voltage
using a clamp meter after switching on each circuit breaker. Then continue to switch on
another circuit breaker after ensuring that the busbar voltage is between 44.5 V DC and 57.6
V DC.

Otherwise, the product may be damaged, and the resulting product exceptions or component damage are beyond the warranty scope.  Only trained and qualified personnel are allowed to install, operate, and maintain Huawei equipment.  Comply with local laws and regulations. The safety instructions in this document are only supplements to the local laws and regulations.  Do not operate the device or cables during lightning strikes.  When maintaining outdoor devices after raining, gently open the cabinet door and clear water around door seams to prevent sprays from splashing into the cabinet.  Remove metal objects such as the watch, bracelet, or ring during operations.  Use insulated tools during operations.  During installation and maintenance, follow the specified procedure.  Before you touch any conductor surface or terminal, use an electric meter to measure the contact point voltage. Ensure that the contact point has no voltage or the voltage is within the specified range.  If the power system is not connected to batteries or the battery capacity is insufficient, the load may power off during maintenance or fault locating.  Before laying out cables which have been stored in a temperature lower than 0ºC, move the cables to an environment of the ambient temperature and store them at the ambient temperature for at least 24 hours.  After device installation, perform routine check and maintenance according to the user manual and replace faulty components in a timely manner to ensure secure device running. 1.2 Electrical Safety Grounding Requirements  When installing a device, install the ground cable first. When removing a device, remove the ground cable last.

AC and DC Operation Requirements  The power system is powered by high-voltage power sources. Direct or indirect contact (through damp objects) with high-voltage power sources may result in serious danger.  Non-standard and improper operations may result in fire and electric shocks.  Before electrical connections, turn off the upstream protection switch for the device.  Before connecting the AC power supply, ensure that electrical connections are complete.  Before you connect cables to loads or battery cables, check cable and terminal polarities, preventing reverse connections. ESD Requirements  To prevent electrostatic-sensitive components from being damaged by the static on human bodies, wear a well-grounded ESD wrist strap or gloves when touching circuit boards.  When holding a board, hold its edge without components. Do not touch chips.  Removed boards must be packaged with ESD packaging materials before storage and transportation. Liquid Prevention Requirements  Place this product far away from areas with liquid. Do not place the product under positions prone to leakage, such as air conditioner vents, ventilation vents, and feeder windows of the equipment room. Prevent liquid from entering the inside of the device to avoid short circuits, and ensure that there is no condensation inside the equipment room or device.  If detecting any liquid inside the device, immediately disconnect the power supply and contact the administrator. 1.3 Battery Safety Before installing, operating, and maintaining batteries, read the instructions provided by the battery vendor. The safety precautions specified in this document are highly important precautions that require special attention. For additional safety precautions, see the instructions provided by the battery vendor. Basic Requirements  Before performing installation or maintenance, put on goggles, rubber gloves, and protective clothing to prevent injury caused by electrolyte overflow.  When moving batteries, do not turn them upside down or tilt them.  Keep the battery loop disconnected during installation and maintenance.

Loose connections will result in excessive voltage drops or cause batteries to burn out when the current is high.  Do not tamper with the explosion-proof valve or vent valve. Otherwise, electrolyte may leak out.  Ensure that batteries are from the same manufacturer, of the same model, and in the same batch. Do not mix old and new batteries together.  Dispose of waste batteries in strict accordance with local laws and regulations.  Avoid ingestion of battery components.  Protect batteries from mechanical vibration, collision, punctures, and strong impact. Otherwise, the batteries may short-circuit inside, leading to high temperatures and potential ignition.  Do not throw batteries in fire or expose batteries to high temperatures for long periods of time, because this may cause batteries to ignite.  Do not immerse batteries in water or expose them to rain.  There is a risk of explosion if a battery is replaced with an incorrect model. Preventing Battery Short Circuits Short circuit inside a battery or on the battery loop must be prevented to avoid fire and prevent personal injury. If conditions permit, disconnect the batteries in use before performing any other operations on them. Preventing Flammable Gas  Do not use unsealed batteries.  Lead-acid batteries emit flammable gas when used. Therefore, store these batteries in well-ventilated areas, and implement fire-prevention measures. Preventing Battery Leakage

If the temperature of a lead-acid battery exceeds 60°C, check the battery for electrolyte overflow. If electrolyte overflow occurs, handle the situation immediately. Avoid moving batteries with electrolyte leakage to prevent possible injury. Neutralize and absorb the leakage with sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) or sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) before moving the batteries. Protect your skin and eyes from lithium battery electrolyte leakage. If your body comes in contact with electrolyte leakage, wash with clean water immediately and visit a doctor if the situation is serious. Preventing Battery Overdischarge After you connect batteries, ensure that the battery loop is disconnected before powering on the power system. This prevents battery overdischarge, which may damage batteries. Charge batteries that have not been used for a long time to avoid battery overdischarge. Preventing Battery Overcharge Do not use battery chargers not approved by Huawei to charge batteries. Otherwise, batteries may overcharge, which may result in battery overheating or even fire. 1.4 DG Safety Before installing, operating, and maintaining a diesel generator (DG), read the instructions provided by the DG vendor. The safety precautions specified in this document are highly important precautions that require special attention. For additional safety precautions, see the instructions provided by the DG vendor.

Otherwise, personal injury may occur.  Before performing installation or maintenance, put on a safety helmet, goggles, and other protective equipment to avoid personal injury.  During installation and maintenance, strictly follow the instructions provided by the DG vendor to avoid burns, explosions, and fire.  Remove all your jewelry and employee cards before installation and maintenance. Tie your hair back and place it under your helmet to avoid entanglement with any rotating components (such as a fan or drive bearing) to prevent personal injury or death.  Keep sparks, open flame, and any other flammable objects away from the DG. Dispose of harmful waste, such as engine oil, diesel, and coolant, in accordance with local laws and regulations. 1.5 Cable Layout  When cables are used in a high temperature environment, the insulation layer may age and be damaged. Ensure that a sufficient distance exists between the cables and the DC busbar, shunt, and fuse.  Signal cables must be bound separately from strong-current cables and high-voltage cables.  Cables prepared by the customer must have the fire resistance capability.  Cables must not pass behind the air exhaust vents of rectifiers in the cabinet. 1.6 Mechanical Safety Hoisting Devices Do not walk under cantilevers or raised objects.  Only trained and qualified personnel are allowed to perform hoisting operations.  Before hoisting objects, check that all hoisting tools are available and in good condition.  Before hoisting objects, ensure that hoisting tools are firmly fixed onto a weight-bearing object or wall.  Ensure that the angle formed by two cables is less than 90 degrees.

Find out and do not exceed the maximum weight capacity.  The recommended angle for a ladder against another object is 75 degrees. Measure the gradient with a right angle or your arms, as shown in Figure 1-1. Ensure that the wider end of the frame is at the bottom, the base cannot slide, and that the ladder is securely positioned. Figure 1-1 Correct angle for ladders  When climbing a ladder: − Ensure that your body's center of gravity does not shift outside the legs of the ladder. − To minimize the risk of falling, steady your balance on the ladder before performing any operation. − Do not climb higher than the fourth rung from the top. Non-standard drilling may affect the electromagnetic shielding of the cabinet and damage interior cables. Metal shards generated during drilling may short-circuit circuit boards if they get into the cabinet.  Before drilling holes into a cabinet, remove interior cables.  Wear goggles and protective gloves when drilling holes.  After drilling, clean up metal shards immediately. Moving Heavy Objects  Be cautious to prevent injury when moving heavy objects.  Wear protective gloves when moving heavy objects.

General Requirements for Laying Out Cables Bending Radius Requirements  The bending radius of a power cable or a ground cable should be greater than or equal to five times its diameter.  The bending radius of a signal cable should be greater than or equal to five times its diameter. Cable Binding Requirements  Cables of the same type should be bound together.  Cables of different types must keep a minimum distance of 30 mm from each other. Cables must not be tangled or twisted.  Cables that are bound together should be close to each other, neat, and free from damage.  Cable ties are bound neatly in the same direction. Cable ties at the same horizontal line must be in a straight line.  The extra part of each indoor cable tie must be cut off. A slack of 5 mm is reserved for each outdoor cable tie. All cut surfaces have no sharp edges.  After cables are installed, labels or nameplates must be attached to both ends, joints, or turns of the cables. Safety Requirements  Cables should be placed away from sharp objects or wall burrs. If inevitable, protect the cables with protection pipes.  Cables should be routed away from heat sources, or heat-insulation materials should be added between cables and heat sources.  Sufficient slack (about 0.1 mm recommended) should be provided in cables at turns or the position close to a device, facilitating cable and device maintenance. Indoor Cable Layout Requirements  Cables are routed indoors through feeder windows.  Trap the cable part outside the feeder window according to requirements for the minimum bending radius.  When routing a cable into the room, ensure that a person is assisting you in the room.  Feeder windows must be waterproofed. Requirements for Laying Out Cables Outdoors  Outdoor cables must be routed through a pipe to protect them from being damaged.  AC power cables, transmission cables, and cables buried in the ground must be protected.  If cables at the cabinet bottom need to be routed through a pipe along the ground, the pipe should be routed into the cabinet base for about 30 mm to 50 mm, but not into the cabinet. The pipe end should be sealed with waterproof tape or silicon gel, and the pipe should be secured to the cable hole at the cabinet bottom using sheet metal.

The cable trough should be sealed and routed through the cable hole at the cabinet bottom.  Arrange the cables in order in the routing direction, and install cable clips. Special Requirements for Laying Out Cables Power Cable Routing Requirements  The positions for laying out power cables should be in accordance with the design drawing.  If the cable length is insufficient, use another power cable with a sufficient length. No joint or weld is allowed on a power cable.  Power cables must be routed by only qualified and trained personnel after all preparations are made.  Power cables are straightly routed and not twisted or winded. Ground Cable Routing Requirements  Ground cables in a base station should be connected to the same ground bar.  Ground cables must not be routed in from the overhead. They must be routed underground or indoors.  Both ends of the external conductor of a coaxial cable and the shield layer of a shielded cable should have good electrical contact with the metal shell of the device they connect to.  Ground cables and signal cables should be bound separately with a proper distance in between to avoid interference.  Circuit breakers or fuses are not allowed on ground cables.  No devices can be used as a part of ground cables.  All conductive metal components in the shell should properly connect to protection ground terminals.

Place the cabinet onto the concrete floor and align the mounting holes on the cabinet with those on the concrete floor. 4. Remove the lifting ropes and lifting eyes. Reinstall the four M12x20 plastic screws on the top of the cabinet using a flat-head screwdriver.

Knock the expansion bolt using a rubber mallet until the expansion sleeve is fully inserted into the hole. 3. Partially tighten the expansion bolt. 4. Remove the bolt, spring washer, and flat washer. Remove the four M12x20 plastic screws from the top of the cabinet using a flat-head screwdriver, and install lifting eyes in the holes. Properly store the plastic screws for future use. 2. Bind lifting ropes to the lifting eyes and then hoist the cabinet. 3. Place the cabinet onto the concrete floor and align the mounting holes in the cabinet with those in the concrete floor. 4. Remove the lifting ropes and lifting eyes. Reinstall the four M12x20 plastic screws on the top of the cabinet using a flat-head screwdriver. Figure 5-4 Hoisting the cabinet Step 5 Put a level on the cabinet and check the position of the mercury. If the mercury is not in the middle, the cabinet is not well leveled. Put a spacer between the cabinet and the concrete floor to level the cabinet.

Do not mix old and new batteries together. Comply with regulations and warnings of the battery manufacturer. Before battery installation, ensure that the battery circuit breaker is OFF or that the battery fuse is disconnected. The rated battery string voltage must be 48 V, such as twenty-four 2 V batteries or four 12 V batteries.

Remove conductive articles such as watches, bracelets, and rings.  If battery acid gets in the eyes, rinse with cold water for more than 15 minutes and seek media advice immediately. If battery acid contacts skin or clothing, wash with soap and water immediately.  Do not use a metal to simultaneously touch two or more battery terminals or simultaneously touch a battery terminal and a grounded object (such as the battery compartment). Otherwise, short circuits will occur, causing sparks or explosion.  Carry batteries by referring to local regulations. To avoid damages, handle with care when carrying batteries.  Place batteries in strict accordance with the figure in this chapter. Otherwise, the batteries may be short-circuited and damaged.  During battery installation, never reversely connect positive and negative battery terminals. Connect the negative battery cable first, and then the positive battery cable.  Before connecting a battery cable, remove the protective lids or protective covers from battery terminals, and reinstall them after connecting the cable.  Secure battery cables to the torque specified in this chapter. Loose battery bolt connections will cause batteries to be burnt. 5.2.1 Installing an ESM Prerequisites Partially tighten bolts first. After connecting all cables to ESMs, tighten the bolts on ESMs to a reference torque of 3.5–5.0 N.m. Procedure Step 1 Flip all ESM switches to OFF, as shown in the following figure.

Inform the alarm center before and after the procedure.  The commissioning involves various technologies. Only trained personnel are allowed to perform commissioning. Perform operations strictly in compliance with the manual.  The commissioning is performed with power-on. During commissioning, stand on dry insulating objects, and remove conductive articles such as watches and rings. Use insulated tools.  During operations, do not contact two electric bodies that have different currents.  During commissioning, check that the status of the related unit or component meets requirements before turning on any switch.  When you are performing operations and do not want others to operate, attach the label "Do not turn on the switch because operations are in process." to the power distribution device.  During commissioning, shut down the device immediately if any fault is detected. Rectify the fault and proceed with the commissioning. 8.1 Connecting the Mains Supply Prerequisites In this scenario, power on and commission the PowerCube 1000 only when the mains power is normal. If the mains power is unavailable, use a mobile DG to supply AC power.

Step 2 Check that the AC input circuit breaker on the ACDU is OFF, and turn on the upstream mains AC switch for the ACDU. Step 3 Check that the AC input phase voltage ranges from 85 V AC to 300 V AC using a clamp meter. Step 4 Check that the battery string voltage ranges from 44.5 V DC to 57.6 V DC using a clamp meter. Step 5 Reinstall battery fuses in the DCDU using a fuse extracting unit. Before reinstalling a fuse, switch the AC input circuit breaker on the ACDU to OFF. Otherwise, the fuse will produce sparks during operation. Step 6 Switch the AC input circuit breaker on the ACDU to ON.
