CampFires and Tweet-Versations



Was thinking about campfires once upon a time.

Where the entire community would group around at nightfall and share , sing,
crib, laugh.And learn.

It was a time when inhibitions were cast aside, and people were at their natural
and normal selves.

A time when the Chieftain would even hear out issues, sort out challenges and
conflicts.

Ideas must have sprouted as dreamy eyes gazed at the fire.

Children must have learnt their first words as mothers played with them every
night.

Warriors would sharpen their spears by the gleaming light and prepare for
battle, listening to wise words from the elders.




Today's social media is like a global campfire.

Around which we all huddle and share.

It is a place where conversations start and flow.

Where ideas spark.

Where we all have something to learn.Something to talk about.


It's a place where we can express ourselves and what we like doing best.
The way we belong to this global social media campfire is no different from those
earlier ones.

There is no room for shop talk.

Brands kid themselves when they think they have smartly camouflaged sales
spiel in a youth lingo.

It shows.

There is no faking anything here.


The key quality of an individual /organisation to belong here is spontaneity.

Nothing rehearsed.

Authenticity.

Conversations.Discussions.

A rough footage. A candid shot. A genuine smile. A sad tear.

They all connect.


The worst mistake one can make is to treat this as another media where the only
change in strategy is a smart TWEET adaptation of a campaign.


A Tweet-versation ( or any social media conversation) at the end of the day, is
just simple straight talk that people truly enjoy. And goes on long after the fire
has gone out.
