2009 H1N1 Flu

What is 2009 H1N1 (swine flu)?

 2009 H1N1 (sometimes called “ swine flu” )
is a new influenza virus causing illness in
people. This new virus was first detected in
people in the United States in April 2009.
This virus is spreading from person-to-
person worldwide, probably in much the
same way that regular seasonal influenza
viruses spread. On June 11, 2009, the World
Health Organization (WHO) signaled that a
pandemic of 2009 H1N1 flu was underway.
What is a virus

 Virus- ultramicro sco pic infe ctio us ag e nt that

  nature .

Some viruses even have the ability to stitch
their own genes into those of the cells they
infect, which means studying their ancestry
requires untangling it from the history of
their hosts and other organisms. What makes
the process even more complicated is that
viruses don't just infect humans; they can
  infect basically any organism—from
bacteria to horses; seaweed to people.
What is H1N1 (swine flu)?

 This is a “ new” influenza virus
 First detected in US April 2009
 Found in other countries including Mexico &
Canada (May have not started in Mexico) [H1 &
N1 were first found and present in the year
  2000]

This flu virus g o t name be cause labo rato ry
te sting sho we d the g e ne s o f this flu virus to be
similar to flu viruse s fo und in pig s.
How does H1N1 Spread and how can we protect
                    ourselves

                                  Transmission

 H1N1 spreads just like the seasonal flu person-to- person
 Touching surfaces that are infected with flu virus
 Tap water does not pose a risk but swimming pools, spas and recreational water
parks do pose a risk of exposure

                                   Prevention

 Always wash your hands (Use hand sanitizers)
 Covering nose and mouth when sneezing (dispose of tissue)
 Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth
 Please “ STAY” home if you are sick (until 7days after the flu symptoms) because
  you contagious)
What are the signs and symptoms of H1N1

 Remember the symptoms
because they are similar to those
 of the seasonal flu:

 Fever
 Cough
 Sore throat
 Runnyor stuffynose
 Bodyaches
 Headaches
 Chills
 Fatigue
 Som m have diarrhea
      e ay
and even vomiting
Watch for emergency complications with the flu.

                Children: Adults:

 • Fast breathing or trouble breathing • Difficulty breathing or shortness of
 • Bluish or gray skin color breath
 • Not drinking enough fluids
                                              • Pain or pressure in the chest or
 • Severe or persistent vomiting
                                                abdomen
 • Not waking up or not interacting
 • Irritable, the child does not want to be • Sudden dizziness
   held • Confusion
 • Flu-like symptoms improve but then • Severe or persistent vomiting
return with fever and worse cough
                                              • Flu-like symptoms improve but then
return with fever and worse cough
How does the influenza affect us?

 In healthy young people and children alike the
influenza virus will put their immune system
on over drive, which will completely deplete
  their body’ s of glutathione.
 In the elderly the influenza virus easily
invades their body’ s immune system because
due to age their glutathione levels are very
  low.
 In unhealthy or those of us with underlying
health conditions the influenza virus can
attack the body’ s immune system because of
  their low glutathione levels.

W hat is glutathione a naturally occurring substance in our bodies that acts as an
antioxidant, an immune system booster, and a detoxifier.
What else can I do if after following all these
precautions and I still do not want to take flu shot.
As we see this influenza shot has been rushed to market without much testing. Therefore many of us
are concerned about the safety of this influenza shot. Also the manufacturers of these influenza shots
have been granted “full” immunity against any side effects produced by their influenza shot. Our
bodies can fight off “ viruses” naturally if your immune system working optimally.

With an “ accidental finding” --a discovery by Dr. Gustavo Bounous, who worked for over 25 years for
the Canadian Medical Research Council. As a surgeon, Dr. Bounous was initially looking for a
protein that would help people recover from surgery faster.

He ended up unlocking one of nature’ s powerful secrets for improving our natural defenses against
disease by showing how to strengthen our in-built master antioxidant and immune regulator.

People are using this discovery to recover from “ incurable” diseases as well as protecting themselves
against every day colds and the flu.

It was not for many years, after further research with immunologists such as Dr Patricia Kongshavn at
McGill University in Montreal, that they realized what they had discovered, and why this nutritional
 discovery was so exciting...

... that they had found HOW T IM ROVE the body's OW M CH

IMMUNOCAL

A Protein Dietary Supplement - Only Better

Immunocal is a bonded cysteine dietary supplement. What is bonded cysteine, exactly? It's simply the
name of elements with unique benefits, which are found in certain special proteins. Immunocal is a protein
supplement whose benefits reach far beyond nutrition, by virtue of the high amount of bonded cysteine it
contains. In fact, Immunocal is considered a "nutraceutical" and is different from other protein supplements
in its ability to support the immune system.

Glutathione has three major roles in the immune system: Antioxidant, Immune booster and Detoxifier.

Scientists have known for decades about the negative impact of glutathione deficiency on our health.
Although the scientific evidence was staggering, it took many more years to develop a proven, effective
means of raising glutathione levels in the body.

Immunocal from Immunotec is clinically proven and guaranteed to do just that. It is the result of many
years of rigorous research by leading scientist Dr. Gustavo Bounous, conducted while he was a researcher at
the world-renowned McGill University. The evidence supporting Immunocal's efficacy is so strong that the
product is protected by numerous North American and international patents—a feat unparalleled by
  any other nutritional supplement.

                                                                             D OOK
Why take Immunocal?

Many people today are justifiably concerned about the H1N1 Flu, as well as the
possibility that deadly strains of HIV may become as contagious as the common cold.
Regardless of how you look at it, the stronger your immune system is, the better prepared
you will be to stave off all kinds of infections.

While many individuals take Immunocal to boost immune system health, it can also be
used for a number of other purposes. Chances are, you know that anti-oxidants are
extremely important. In a world where nuclear radiation may have released billions of
oxidants, it is even more important to make use of anti-oxidants. In particular, you will
find that hydrogen peroxide causes some of the most severe damage to your cells. At the
same time, glutathione is one of the few anti-oxidants that can neutralize it.

Notas del editor

  1. Welcome, today we will learn what is the H1N1 flu virus also called the swine flu. After today we want all to be aware and informed of what H1N1 is and how it affects your immune system. But most important is that we can also build up our own bodies defenses to fight this H1N1 flu virus.
  2. The H1N1 also known as swine flu is an influenza that does passes from pig to human. Why is 2009 H1N1 virus sometimes called “swine flu”? This virus was originally referred to as “swine flu” because in laboratory testing it showed that many of the genes in this new virus were very similar to influenza viruses that normally occur in pigs (swine) in North America. But further study has shown that this new virus is very different from what normally circulates in North American pigs. It has two genes from flu viruses that normally circulate in pigs in Europe and Asia and bird (avian) genes and human genes. Scientists call this a "quadruple reassortant" virus.
  3. A virus (from the Latin virus meaning toxin or poison) is a microscopic organism consisting of genetic material (RNA or DNA) surrounded by a protein, lipid (fat), or glycoprotein coat. Viruses are unique organisms because they cannot reproduce without a host cell. After contacting a host cell, a virus will insert genetic material into the host and take over the host's functions. The cell, now infected, continues to reproduce, but it reproduces more viral protein and genetic material instead of its usual products. It is this process that earns viruses the classification of "parasite". How are viruses spread?
  4. This strain is presently causing concern because it has become a mutated form called Influenza virus. The (H1N1) or human swine influenza which can be spread from human to human. It can also be passed on by people who are carrying the virus but show no outward signs of illness.
  5. How Does The Virus Spread? - People become infected with the virus by inhaling droplets that have been coughed or sneezed out by an infected person. - A person may also become infected by touching something with flu viruses on it and then touching their mouth or nose. The virus may survive for up to eight hours outside the human body. By now you've probably seen the frightening pictures from Mexico of people trying to avoid catching the swine flu infection. Unfortunately swine flu has now been confirmed in multiple locations within the United States. So far there are some individuals in the U.S. infected with swine flu that have died; however, an estimated 80 Mexicans have succumbed to the swine flu infection. It is a highly contagious infection and potentially deadly. So what precautions can you easily take to prevent being infected by swine
  6. Influenza primarily infects the respiratory tract (nose, throat, and lungs). The disease can cause severe illness and lead to life-threatening complications, such as pneumonia, in many people.
  7. It is very important for anyone with symptoms to avoid contact with others, but seek emergency care if any of the symptoms listed in this slide are present.
  8. The 2009 Swine Flu and prior versions of swine flu are slightly off of this typical demographic pattern and seem to affect people who were previously healthy. The average age of the people who contracted the 2009 flu is 19, so far according to confirmed reported cases. Those aged 5 to 24 are most often affected. Serious symptoms and deaths are more frequent in ages 5 and under and in people with underlying health conditions, especially respiratory conditions like asthma, diabetics and pregnant women. Oddly, unlike most other influenza viruses, those 65 and older are at less risk of contracting A-H1N1/09. There is some possibility of immunity gained by exposure to a similar prior virus, perhaps the one in 1930, but the reason is still unknown.
  9. Why should you worry about this now? Viruses, bacterial infections, cancers, environmental diseases, auto-immune disorders, etc. are all on the rise. Are you going to wait until you or someone you love acquires one or more of these diseases or do you want to do what you can now to prevent them? All of these threats to our immune systems and each individuals existence are running rampant all over the globe.
  10. What does Immunocal do? Immunocal acts in two ways – it is a very high quality protein that provides all the amino acids your body needs, and, more critically, it raises a substance in your body called “glutathione”. Glutathione plays many roles in your body, the four most important of which can be summarized by the acronym: AID = E 2 A – Antioxidant: Glutathione is the body’s “Master Antioxidant” I – Immune System: Glutathione is critical for immune function D – Detoxification: Glutathione is your cell's key detoxification enzyme E 2 – Glutathione contributes to your overall energy at many levels 2008 Nobel Prize Winner in Medicine Dr. Luc Montagnier – The 1984 discovery of HIV. 1994 drew attention to the promising effects of Immunotec’s cornerstone product, Immunocal in his opening address at the 10 th International AIDS Conference in Japan 1997, devoted an entire chapter to a paper co-authored by Immunotec founding scientist Dr. Gustavos Bounous.
  11. Do healthy people need glutathione? Optimal glutathione levels are important for everyone. Although you are hopefully in good health right now, glutathione levels fall as we age, and are lowered by a great number of very common illnesses. There is a constant demand for glutathione in our daily life; stress, pollution and infectious disease are all causes of glutathione depletion. For those that exercise regularly, glutathione is especially important to replenish to avoid injury, improve recovery time and keep your immune system strong. Which illnesses may be affected by raising glutathione? Many disease states are characterized by low glutathione levels. Immunocal has been developed as a strategy to help sustain glutathione levels. Glutathione deficiency states include, but are not limited to: AIDS and cancer muscle wasting, chemical and infectious hepatitis, radiation poisoning, malnutrition states, strong physical stress, and acetaminophen toxicity. Many other problems including cardiovascular, lung, digestive and kidney disorders are associated with glutathione deficiency and are cited in numerous medical references.
