  1. 1. The HR Generalist An HR generalist is involved with many aspects of an organization's human resources department. Although an HR generalist's duties may vary widely at different organizations, they often include conducting performance evaluations, recruiting and interviewing potential employees, updating employee information and acting as a mediator for internal conflicts.

Key features of HR Generalist  They don’t specialize in any particular area but get involved with each and every HR specialism.  The HR generalist as wider range of responsibilities when compare to HR Specialization.  HR generalist is similar to an assistant kind of job where they advise different departments on how to develop and how to manage their personnel to meet the needs of the business.  The HR Generalist will support the day-to-day operation of the HR function  The Human Resources Generalist will become a business partner to the business by developing strong relationships with business managers(Various department).
  3. 3. HR Generalist Roles and Responsibilities HR Generalist is actually a backbone of the HR-Department. The job- responsibility of this team starts on the day of Induction with Joining Formalities. The various roles that they are expected to perform are:  Joining Formalities  Handling Employee Database (Both in Soft Form and Files Management)  Leaves and Attendance Management  Handling the payroll, employee orientation, development, and training  Managing advance Salary, Bonuses, Loans  Employee services and counseling, policy development and documentation  Confirmations, Performance Appraisals, Performance Management  Liaison with various government organizations for Employee Provident Funds, ESI and other Retirement Benefits  Exit-Interviews  Full and Final Settlement
  4. 4. HR Generalist competencies Competencies Required:  Attention to details is a must have quality  Self-Motivated  Should have updated and accurate database…on any hour of the day.  Should be good in coordination.  Should be prompt…and fast enough in his actions
  5. 5. Skills and Knowledge  Arithmetic and Logical skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.  Knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines.  Knowledge of federal and state employment and benefit law.  Strong interpersonal and communication skills.  Ability to analyze data and provide recommendations.  Visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image to the public.  Basic, Good with Microsoft Office and file maintenance.
  6. 6. Conclusion The HR Generalist is responsible for all human resource activities for the company. Provide advice, assistance and follow-up on company policies, procedures, and documentation. Coordinate the resolution of specific policy-related and procedural problems and inquiries.
