  4. 4. INSTRUMENT TRANSFORMER The transformer which are used in A.C system for the measurement of current , voltage, power and energy is called instrument transformer. TYPES:- CURRENRT TRANSFORMER POTENTIAL TRANSFORMER CAPACITIVE VOLTAGE TRANSFORMER
  5. 5. CURRENT TRANSFORMER A CT is use for measurementof alternating electric current,The current transformer is always connected in series.a CT also isoletes the in the monitored circuit. measuring instrument from what may be very high voltage
  6. 6. POTENTIAL TRANSFORMER Used for step-down voltage for measurement protecting & control.
  7. 7. ISOLATORS Isolator is a switching devices used to open or closed a circuit either when a negligible current exit , To disconnect transmission line under no-load condition.
  8. 8. CIRCUIT BREAKER A circuit breaker is a piece of equipment which can:-  Disconnect a circuit automatically under fault conditions.  Open or reclose circuit either manually or by remote control under fault conditions.

  10. 10. LIGHTINING ARRESTER These are classified on the basis of constraction the principle of operation of each remains same i.e. providing low resistance for surge voltage to the ground
  11. 11. WAVE TRAP Wave trap is used to trap the communication signals & send PLCC through CVT. It’s rating is 0.3mH.
  12. 12. INSULATOR An electrical insulator is a materials whose interanal electrical charge do not flow freely,and which there fore does not conduct an electric current ,under the influence of an electric field. A perpect insulator does not exist ,but some materils such as glass ,paper and teflon ,which have high resistivity ,are very good electric insulator .;

  14. 14. RELAY A relay is automatic device which senses an abnormal condition of electrical circuit and closes its contacts. These contacts in turns close and complete the CB trip coil circuit hence make the CB tripped for disconnecting the faulty portion.;
  15. 15. CONTROL ROOM To operate all the equipment or device from operator room is called control room.
  16. 16. GROUNDING Ground is the reference point in an electrical circuit from which other voltages are measured, a common return path for electric current (earth return or ground return), or a direct physical connection to the Earth.
  17. 17. PLCC Use of Power Line Carrier Communication (PLCC) in modern elctrical power to provides for signal transmission down transmission line conductors or insulated ground wires.

  19. 19. BATTERY ROOM In a GSS, separate dc supply is maintained for signalling remote position control, alarm circuit etc. Direct current can be obtained from 220volt 3 phase ac supply.
