3.
TRAILER
The trailer starts off with a uplifting tone, including happy soul music to uplift the audience
and mislead them to the type of genre it is. Then stops suddenly ends on the diegetic creep
switching the genre type from happy to a tense/scary atmosphere.
After each shot type of the dramatic up building of terror each shot flashes black, interrupted
by titles such as ‘ Based on a true story’ and ‘director of Saw’ anchoring and enticing the
audience on the film.
To build dramatic tension and horror the diegetic movement in the house such as the creep
of the door is emphasised to shock and engage the audience into the environment as its
associated with a fear of the unknown keeping the audience gripping to their chair.
The font style in the titles is of a classic nature the two types of typefaces both being serif
evoking the genre.
The colours within the trailer are of a dull hue and saturation setting the mellow tone mood
reflecting the genre.
The trailer ends on a logo style for The Conjuring in a yellow typeface on a black background
juxtaposing the genre as connotations of yellow are happiness. Alongside that is a cliché
style doll chime presenting a type of cliff-hanger for the scary genre ending.
4. TRAILER
The genre type is instantly reflected as a comedy through the main characters
attitude and his best friend as the coach with a flag in his mouth evokes a sense
of a jokey nature showing that he isn’t a professional not taking it seriously.
The main character is seemed to struggle on his runs throughout doing a series
of activities to try and make him prepare for something, a sense of failure
makes it easy for the audience to relate to.
The joyful non diegetic music is very jolly and enthusiastic uplifting the trailer
and juxtaposes the main characters struggle making it humorous.
The trailer is effective as it builds momentum and enthusiasm at the start
through the music style but only a snippet of the main characters journey is
shown, leaving the audience on a cliff-hanger which makes it intriguing to see
how his journey ends.
The teaser trailer of ‘Run fat boy run’ is presented at the end which anchors the
journey which is seen throughout, being the last thing the audience sees
making it more memorable to them.
