Client: CF Assist , World Bank
Planned and conducted a Sectoral Study to Analyze the
Success of CDM Projects in the Indian Cement Industry
used the same to promote CDM projects in the cement
sector in Africa.
Project was funded by Carbon Finance Assist of the World
Bank and was done through a sub contract in collaboration
with Econoler Internatioal, Canada”.

5. For Connaught Plaza restaurants Pvt Ltd (Mc Donald’s India)
This project was commissioned under the sponsor ship of USAID’s
ECO Project.
Electric power was the major energy used by the complex. The
power supply to the outlets was by Delhi Vidyut Board and Uttar
Pradesh State Electricity Board (UPSEB).
The annual electricity bills of the outlets were about Rs 10.96 million.
Connaught Plaza restaurants Pvt Ltd (Mc Donald’s India) with a chain of fast food restaurants essentially in Delhi and Jaipur, has more than 25 outlets in Delhi. The company is
associated with McDonalds USA, and , in the year 2001-02, had sales revenues about of Rs 500 million.

6. for SSR International Airport at Mauritius
SSR International Airport was planning on expanding its capacity with
new cargo zone, terminal facilities, freeport area, business lounge
areas etc.
The expansion would result in a significant increase in the energy
consumption.
Considering the forecasted increase in energy demand the Air
Mauritius Limited (AML) contracted the services of SSAEL to develop
a Energy Usage & Integration Strategy for the next 20 years.

7. For Small Scale Ceramic Units in Gujarat & UP
Conducted Dagnostic Studies (through structured questionnaires)
Energy Audit of 15 ceramic tiles and sanitary ware manufacturing
units in the industrial clusters of Khuja, Uttar Pradesh and in Morbi
and Thangadh, Gujarat in India.

8. PowerMax Communications Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of PowerMax Global LLC.
PowerMax has several patents and IP over Broadband over Power Lines (BPL)
technology for Smart Grids and Automated Meter Reading for utilities.
PowerMax desired to understand the Indian electrical utilities market, type of
electrical meters currently being used and their number in domestic, commercial and
industrial segment from secondary research.
The Market Study covered the organization of the Indian electric utilities in the
public and private sector, details of distribution utilities, regulators etc.
The study covered opportunities and receptiveness of the utilities to offer internet
services as an ISP, Advanced Meter Reading (AMR), utility driven Demand Side
Management (DSM) programs for energy efficiency and reduction of peak load
demand.
Phase 2 of the Study involved creation of awareness among utilities and regulators
for PowerMax products and solutions and facilitation of pilot demonstration projects
in two utilities.

9. For World Bank and IREDA
To analyze the experience of ESCO approach to energy efficiency in municipal
street lighting and public buildings
Suggest the way forward to overcome the barriers including policy
recommendations.
Used online collaborative tool, Google Spreadsheet to collect information on
the list of ESCO projects. Obtained detailed information on the ESCO projects
using online survey techniques i.e Survey Monkey. Interviewed Clients and
ESCOs for further inputs. Data Analysis and Report Preparation.

10. For Gestamp Solar India Pvt Ltd (unit of Gestamp, Spain)
SSAEL helped Gestamp Solar bid for 25 MW under the phase 1 batch 2 of the
National solar mission .

11. For Siliken Chemicals SA, Spain
Siliken is a large vertically integrated chemical conglomerate from Spain. Siliken
makes Polysilicon, wafers and modules based on multicrystalline silicon
technology.
Siliken was looking to enter the India Solar PV market through a module
manufacturing facility and had engaged the professional services of SSAEL to
road map the strategy through a desk study followed by consultations with
Gujarat and Rajasthan governments to obtain incentives for setting up the
project.
SSAEL had identified 8 potential states in India for the study and shortlisted 2
states which were most interested for setting up the module manufacturing
facility.
SSAEL compiled a detailed report laying out the execution strategy and started
working with the govt. to obtain various incentives for setting up the project in
the selected state.
The project phase 2 which covered project management services to setup the
module manufacturing plant was put on hold due to the global economic crisis.

12. For Shri Shakti Alternative Energy Ltd
100MW Rajasthan Solar Processing Zone (Raj SPZ) is being developed on 620 acres
land near Ramdevra, Jaisalmer District which has the best solar radiation in India.
Sites of minimum 30 acres are being allotted for various project developers to apply
to NVVN under the National Solar Mission.
Raj SPZ offers common approvals (land use conversion, power evacuation etc) and
ready made infrastructure consisting of land development (boundary fencing,
internal roads, yard lighting, borewells and water etc) and power evacuation
arrangement (internal 33kV lines, 132kV pooling substation, 132kV line from Raj SPZ
to 132kV grid substation in Pokhran).
Project has secured the approval of Bureau of Investment Promotion and
Commissioner of Industries, and the Energy Department, Government of Rajasthan
Raj SPZ is the first solar park being developed in the private sector under the
Rajasthan Solar Energy Policy, 2011.
Raj SPZ is being developed by Shri Shakti Alternative Energy Ltd with Master Planning
and Architecture by Sanjay Prakash & Associates Pvt Ltd, New Delhi.

AES India is a part of the American MNC which is in power sector in 30
countries and has implemented over 40MW of solar power projects.
Supported the Client in achieving financial closure with IDFC on
complete non-resource basis, relying mainly on the strength of the PPA
and the projected power generation.

15. For Kfw Entwicklungs Bank
To review the Indian energy efficiency market in public buildings,
infrastructure and commercial buildings
To identify ideas for KfW EE financing programs development in the
targeted sectors.
KfW has initiated a study which aims to analyse various approaches
towards energy efficiency programmes in buildings in Asia and to give a
broad view on already existing programmes and policies and on how far
they are already implemented.
The study also aims to assess how applicable KfW’s existing programmes
are in selected countries and identify possible partner institutions and
specific programmes/measures suitable for financing within the German
Financial Cooperation.
The proposal work was carried out jointly with Econoler, Canada.
