The club's next meeting on February 17th will feature a talk by Simon Young about the Australian Antarctic Division. COMING UP What's happening?
Mary Booth has been very busy creating a new garden for her
daughter, Sarah who has special needs. Mary says this garden
needs it to be an easy care garden because whilst Sarah likes
looking at the garden but she is a tad shy in the doing
department.
If you have any cutting of succulents to share with Mary, please
bring them along to our next meeting.

The merry little Airport Garden band had another month off

Queens Baton Relay We have been talking about it for a
little while and it happened on the 1st Feb and from all
reports ... he was fabulous! I am sure that by now everyone
is aware that we nominated Peter
Kimber to be a baton bearer in the
Queen's Baton relay. Pete ran his
segment like a champ. Here are the pics

Beautiful red ones, beautiful pink ones,
beautify apricot ones, beautiful yellow
ones. It is always so hard to pick a
favourite.
The Australian native hibiscus (Hibiscus
tiliaceus) is a tree rather than a shrub and
more commonly called, sea hibiscus,
beach hibiscus, coastal hibiscus, coastal
cottonwood, green cottonwood, native
hibiscus, native rosella, cottonwood
hibiscus. There are many growing around
Coffs. The bronze foliaged variety is the
tiliaceus rubra.
Bring along your favourite for the
competition table on Saturday.

Diggers Beach was the destination and a lovely day was had by all. First to Lyndy McLeod’s garden - then on
to Marilyn and Michael Waterhouse's garden and finally to Gaye and Bob Tarry’s garden. Lunch was at the
close by Anuka resort.

What's Coming Up
Saturday 17th February 2018 - Meeting
Usual location Display room at Botanic Gardens,
Hardacre Street Coffs Harbour. Come along at 1:00pm
for the competition table and trading table and to say
your hellos. Don't forget your hibiscus.
One of our own members, Simon Young was involved
with Australian Antarctic Division in a former life and he
has agreed to tell us a little about the adventure.
Thursday 1st March - Garden Visits
First Thursday of the month is the usual date for an
outing. This month we are off to:
1. South Coffs Community Garden. Bruce King Drive
Boambee East, adjacent to the Community Centre;
2. Alfred Jones' garden at 21 Bray Street Coffs Harbour
3 Robyn Moulds' Garden at 9 Pam Close Coffs Harbour.
Lunch is at Robyn's. Robyn is making some of her
super cole-slaw, Jane & I will bring the snags & buns
and if anyone wants to bring a sweetie or two to tempt
us it should be a fine afternoon get-together.
RSVP to Sue or Jane by 26/2/18 or there won't be a
snag and bun for you - you will just have to eat cake! If
you are looking to carpool from the Gardens ring Jane
or me - our numbers are in the panel to the left
Sunday 4th March - Clean Up Australia
Peter Kimber has rallied garden club members and
others for many years to join in the Clean Up Australia
day events. The site Peter looks after is the Coffs
Cemetery at Hardacre St.
Meeting Point: At front of Cemetery. Start time: 08:45
AM End time: 11:30 AM
