Let’s Eat Healthy
    Nutrition Project
        2nd Grade
    Ms. Brittney Fields
This presentation is to inform you of a
project that our class will be working on
     daily for the next three weeks.
Why is the food pyramid
        important?
       This essential question is the heart of the project.

Project Summary
 The class will be divided into
 groups.

 The groups will be learning about
 the nutritional importance of
 each food group.

 They will learn about the
 number of daily servings and
 serving sizes.

 The goal is to educate the
 students about healthy eating
 habits.

 Each group will create a short
 play presenting their project
 conclusions.

AS THE TEACHER

                                     I will be leading discussion regarding
                                      the essential question and the unit
                                            questions with the class.

                                     I will have group conferences where
                                      we will review checklists that the
                                      students will use to stay on track.

        The unit questions           I will provide learning centers where
    the students will address:       each group will have opportunity for
                                             information gathering.
What is a food group and why is it
           important?                The students will be provided a clear
                                     understandable plan for this project
  What is a well balanced diet?      and I will be available at all times to
                                          guide them as it is needed.
What is the student’s role in the project?
                 The class will be separated into
                   groups of 4 to 5 students.

          The students will use the resources provided
            in the classroom as well as from home
               to answer the content questions.

     Each group will present the final project as a short play
             for the entire classroom and visitors.




           The content questions are:
What are examples of foods               What is the number of
that fit into each food group?            ser vings for each food group
                                         on the food pyramid?
What is a serving size and
why is it important?
As the parent
check your student’s daily folder for
information regarding the project

help your student research by finding
additional information in the library
or on child friendly websites

help your student with any spelling in
the project’s script to improve his or
her reading clarity

be prepared to contribute from home
any items the student may need

if possible attend the final
presentation of short plays

send assigned contribution to
celebration luncheon for the students

  • 2. This presentation is to inform you of a project that our class will be working on daily for the next three weeks.
  • 3. Why is the food pyramid important? This essential question is the heart of the project. Project Summary The class will be divided into groups. The groups will be learning about the nutritional importance of each food group. They will learn about the number of daily servings and serving sizes. The goal is to educate the students about healthy eating habits. Each group will create a short play presenting their project conclusions.
