KAPCO began in 1972 as a distributor of aircraft parts and has since expanded through several acquisitions to become a full-service supplier and manufacturer in the aerospace industry. It operates out of eight facilities totaling over 250,000 square feet of warehouse space and employs around 295 personnel. KAPCO distributes over 28,000 proprietary OEM parts and manufactures and machines its own parts to stringent quality standards with approvals from top aviation companies.
9. In 1972 a Corporation was formed under the name Kirkhill Aircraft Parts Company and became known as KAPCO. The company started with a license agreement with McDonnell-Douglas to distribute about 600 proprietary spare parts. Sales were a little less than $600,000 the first year. In 2001 we acquired Ball Glide, a machine shop, to enhance our manufacturing capabilities. Ball Glide provides high quality precision products from small intricate parts to large complex products. On September 01, 2003, KAPCO acquired Valtec Aircraft Supply. Founded in 1972, Valtec Aircraft Supply is a stocking distributor that supports the commercial airlines and independent repair facilities worldwide with a broad range of expendable, replacement sealing and clamp products. In December 2007 KAPCO acquired HK Aerospace, a supplier of electrical connectors and related components for the manufacture, modification, installation and repair of aircraft IFE systems, avionics, interior wiring and harnessing in most all current commercial aircraft in service today. In March 2008 KAPCO acquired Avialec International; a prime interconnect specialist supporting Airbus and Boeing offering aerospace connectors, accessories, relays, wire and specializing in VAD connector build; meeting customer specific requirements. On July 1, 2008 KAPCO improved our logistical and customer support by opening a warehouse facility located in the Netherlands. As part of our commitment and continuous improvement to our customers we now offer a more convenient shipping method for our European customer base and nearby countries. In April 2009 KAPCO acquired Boone Extend (doing business as Bold Aerospace in the US) a distributor of electrical, electromechanical and mechanical components for the aerospace and defense industries. The acquisition of Boone Extend falls in line with KAPCO’s strategic plan to increase our electrical product line and Airbus product support. In July 2010 KAPCO acquired Wings Electro Sales; a distributor of electro mechanical components and ground support expendables. Located in Wellington Florida, Wings was established in 1985 with the goal to provide the airline industry with superior quality electro-mechanical components, electrical hardware and components for airline ground support equipment. We have researched and developed PMA parts usually offered at least a 30% savings over OEM parts, assuring a quality as good as the OEM parts.
