2. Google for Nonprofits is Google’s
program that provides free services
and tools for 501(c)3 organizations.
This tutorial will show you how your
nonprofit can apply for the Google
for Nonprofits program.

4. There are six Google Products that are part of the Google for Nonprofits program:

5. Google Apps for Nonprofits includes Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets &
Slides. A version of these services are available for free for, however Google
has a Commercial version, or Business version of these products that are paid
services. With the Google for Nonprofits Program your 501(c)3 will receive
these upgrades for free.
6. Google Grants for Adwords is the nonprofit edition of AdWords, Google’s online
advertising tool. Your nonprofit can use up to $10,000 of free in-kind adwords
advertising to promote your mission, gain new donors, engage the community,
and raise awareness for your cause. This, in our opinion, is the most valuable
tool available to nonprofits through the Google for Nonprofits program
7. YouTube for Nonprofits is the enriched version of You Tube that is available
with the G4NP program, your nonprofit can create customized video
channels, add a call to action overlay on your videos and include a
“Donate” button next to your videos.
8. Google Earth Outreach &
Google Maps API: Once you
are accepted into the Google
for Nonprofits program, your
charity is eligible to use
Google Earth Professional
Version, and Google Maps to
create custom maps of your
project sites, create a
narrative Google Earth
movie and make it available
on YouTube and host
geospatial data online.
9. One Today
A mobile app that presents one
nonprofit each day, soliciting $1
donations for your nonprofit.
One Today: Google mobile Android app which promotes a different charity every
day, and enables app users to donate $1 with a simple click to the charities of
their choice
10. The first step in applying for the Google for
Nonprofits program is to review the eligibility
requirements. Google for Nonprofits is currently
available in the US and the UK. However Google
Grants are available in 28 countries.
Requirements for nonprofits based in the US:
1. Your nonprofit must hold current 501(c)3 status,
as determined by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service
2. Must acknowledge and agree to the terms
regarding nondiscrimination and donation receipt
and use

Then click on “Join the Program.

On the first page of the application form, you must read & agree to the
program’s terms and conditions, and then enter your nonprofit’s EIN or Tax ID.
14. On page one of the application form you will enter the
name & address of your nonprofit, your phone number and
website address. You will then need to choose your
nonprofit type from the drop down list provided by
Google. You will need to choose one of these categories –
and there is no option for “Other” or a place to enter
another type of nonprofit. Your nonprofit may also fit into
multiple categories – but in that case you need to choose
the category that best describes your overall mission. And
then finally you will add your mission statement. Google
asks that you “briefly describe the nature of your
organization, your activities, your clientele and the locations
of the services you provide.”

16. Contact Information: Enter the name of the individual who will
be the contact person for your Google for Nonprofits application,
along with their title and phone number. The email address is
already included for you on this form – and this is the email
address associated with the Google Account that you are using
for this application.
For the communications preferences – these are opt-in choices –
in other words you do not have to check these boxes – only check
them if you want to receive updates and news from Google for
Nonprofits, or if you want to have your charity listed online as
being a member of Google for Nonprofits.
Click “Submit Application” – and you are done.
18. After you click submit you will be taken to a confirmation
page – and if you click on Go to My Home Page, you will see
that your application status is pending review. You should
bookmark your home page for easy access later.

20. Congratulations! You’ve Completed
the Google for Nonprofits application.
Most G4NP applications are approved in
1-3 weeks. But while you wait – there
are some additional steps you can take in
setting up your Adwords Account.
21. When your application has been approved you will receive a confirmation
email. Once you have been accepted into the G4NP Program, you can then
submit applications to the various G4NP Programs, including Google Grants
for Adwords.
