Health psychology examines how biological, psychological, and social factors influence health and illness. The field emerged due to limitations of past medical models that did not consider the connection between the mind and body. Current research in health psychology uses a biopsychosocial model and various tools to study how biological, psychological, and social variables interact and impact health.
