My future position in the healthcare industry is to be a Healthcare Administrator. In my current or past positions, I did not work with finances, so this is new to me, though definitely will be dealing with it as an Administrator. There are several ways that I would utilize financial information. It will be utilized when dealing with insurance and reimbursements, will I qualify for meaningful use, paying staff, allocating finances for quality improvement, improving technology equipment as well as other equipment and marketing are just some of the ways I will utilize financial information. As a patient, I have had the experience of having to pay for healthcare costs out of pocket. I have also reviewed the bill to ensure correctness of charges, called facility for questions regarding billing, and also have reviewed the EOB (explanation of Benefits) this also will ensure correctness and assure me of all charges. Guadalupe Martinez 010/30/19 PSYC 2103 ESSAY QUESTIONS 1.Identify and explain the significant steps of Early Childhood Development and include the relevant theories. The development of a child starts with physical development before getting to psychological development. Physical development involves growth in height and weight. During the early stages, the girls are averagely taller than boys. One of the challenges in physical development is obesity, a health problem that is caused by diet, social characteristics, and genetic make-up. The psychological aspect involves growth in education, which is enhanced for all learners through systems such as special education. The special education units involve providing the learners with differentiated instructions to facilitate learning at various levels. The early development stages require the support of the parents, especially the protection that the father offers to the children. Similarly, the development of the children includes dieting and the challenge of obesity among children can be addressed by ensuring that children access healthy meals. 2.Describe the challenges faced by learners in the early stages of development and suggest viable solutions to the setbacks. Bullying at school and instability in the family set up can disrupt the learning progress and ruin the future of the kids. Bullying inflicts physical pain and injuries and scares the victims from attending school. This problem can be addressed by teaching discipline in school. Bullying is responsible for over 90% truancy in elementary and middle schools as students fear being harassed and they choose to stay at home. Children who are exposed to bullying might develop low self-esteem, while the perpetrators are likely to engage in crimes in future. The issue of family disputes affects the children because they lack the required parental support. The challenge can be solved by listening and responding to their concerns. The adults might be well adapted to facing wi ...

Physical & Cognitive Development in Middle Childhood I. Physical Development The Growing Body Beginning at age 6 and continuing to age 12, these years are often referred to as the “school years.” Compared with the swift growth during the first five years, physical growth during middle childhood is slow but steady. School-aged children grow, on average, 2 to 3 inches per year. This is the only time during the life span when girls are, on average, taller than boys. I. Physical Development A. The Growing Body (cont.) Obesity is defined as body weight that is more than 20% above the average for a person of a given height and weight. 15% of all children are obese. This proportion has tripled since the 1960s. Obesity can caused by a combination of genetic and social characteristics. I. Physical Development (cont.) Motor Development Schooled-age children’s gross and fine motor skills develop substantially over middle childhood. An important improvement in gross motor skills is muscle coordination. I. Physical Development (cont.) Health During Middle Childhood More than 90% of children in middle childhood have at least one serious medical condition, although most are short-term illnesses. ASTHMA More than 15 million children in the U.S. suffer from this illness. Asthma attacks are triggered by a variety of factors. Respiratory infections Allergic reactions to airborne irritants Stress Exercise A sudden change in air temperature or humidity I. Physical Development (cont.) c. Increasing independence and mobility of school-age children lead to new safety issues. Children walking to school face dangers of being hit by cars and trucks due to inability to judge distance/speed. The most frequent source of injury to children is automobile accidents. Car crashes kill five out of every 100,000 children between ages 5 and 9 annually. Fires and burns, drowning, and gun-related deaths follow in frequency. d. The newest threat to the safety of school-aged children comes from the Internet or the World Wide Web. I. Physical Development (cont.) Psychological Disorders Childhood depression is often overlooked by teachers and parents. Approximately 5% of school-age children suffer from depression. 13% of school-age children suffer from anxiety disorders. The use of antidepressant drugs has become a popular treatment for childhood psychological disorders. In 2002 more than 10 million prescriptions were written for children under the age of 18. Little is known about the long-term effectiveness of antidepressants with children or the consequences of use of the developing brains of children. I. Physical Development (cont.) D. Children with Special Needs One student in a thousand requires special education services relating to VISUAL IMPAIRMENT. AUDITORY IMPAIRMENT, a special need that involves the loss of hearing or some aspect of hearing, which affects 1% to 2% of school-aged children. Three to 5% of school-age children have speech impa.

Middle Childhood: Body and Mind chapter seven Invitation to the Life Span Kathleen Stassen Berger | Fourth edition 1 Middle Childhood Middle childhood Period between early childhood and early adolescence, approximately from ages 6 to 11 Safeguarded by genetic and environmental factors Evolutionary perspective Genes protect children who have already survived the hazards of birth and early childhood A Healthy Time (part 1) Lower death rates Immunizations Less lethal accidents and fatal illnesses Fewer chronic conditions Better diagnostic and preventive medical care Less secondhand smoke Better health habits Specialized programs Improved oral health Rates continue to rise with age, up to 13,674 for those aged 85 and older, so this figure cannot portray the entire life span. Details are remarkable as well. Not only are fatal diseases rare, thanks to immunization, but accidents and homicide also dip during middle childhood — and rise rapidly thereafter. 3 A Healthy Time (part 2) Growth and healthy habits Average child gains about 2 inches and 5 pounds per year. Maintenance of good health related to adult instruction and regular medical care. Camps for children with special health needs are beneficial. A Healthy Time (part 3) Physical activity Benefits of physical activity can last a lifetime. Advances in physical, emotional, and mental health Academic achievement improvement Concerns Harm from sports Brain injury and other impact-related injury Better cerebral blood flow and more neurotransmitters Better mood and energy Embodied cognition aided 5 A Healthy Time (part 4) Need for movement Indoor activities often replace outdoor play. Economic barriers and disabilities may limit participation in league, club and other after school activities. When academic instruction replaces physical education; less physical activity may cause less learning. Modern life challenges neighborhood play. Time for school physical activities and recess is reduced in many schools 6 A Healthy Time (part 5) Brain development With physical activity Cerebral blood flow and neurotransmitters and better moods Embedded cognition Connection between body movement and thinking A Healthy Time (part 6) Health problems: Childhood obesity Paying attention Neurological advances allow children to pay special notice to most important environmental elements Executive control Selective attention Reaction time Improves with physical play and maturation Reaction time: Time it takes to respond to a stimulus, either physically ( thought). 8 A Healthy Time (part 7) Health problems: Childhood obesity Many 6- to 11-year-olds eat too much, exercise too little, and become overweight or obese as a result. 18 percent of U.S. 6- to 11-year-olds were obese. Excessive weight contributes to future health risk increases, average achievement decreases, self-esteem failures, and loneliness. Since 2000, U.S. rates have leveled off, even declining in preschool children, but in ...

Offering sufficient outdoor time improves the overall health of our children while lengthening attention spans, diminishing aggressiveness, improving test scores and ultimately advancing learning. This guide addresses those concerns. National Wildlife Federation (NWF) created the Be Out There movement to give back to American children what they don’t even know they have lost: their connection to the natural world. In the process, NWF aims to help reverse alarming health trends and help families raise happier, healthier children. Signs everywhere show the spirit of the movement taking hold. CAUSE AND RISK FACTORS OF CHILHOOD OBESITY 1 4 CAUSE AND RISK FACTORS OF CHILDHOOD OBESITY Cause and Risk Factors of Childhood Obesity Lesly M. Ponce Gonzales Mountain View College ENGL 1302 - TR -11:00 Abstract Childhood obesity is a global public health concern and its increasing over the years and it is defined as an increase in body fat and this is related to an abnormal weight gain for their age and height. The obese child is more predisposed to being an obese adult and tends to increase his probability of early mortality. Causes or risk factors are closely related to genetic inheritance, lifestyle, and environmental factors, such as school diet, socioeconomic problems, and technology. It can also cause diseases such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep disorders, among others. The causes and risk factors of childhood obesity because it helps to understand the increasing growth of obese children and adults in the world. Knowing the causes or risk factors allows specialists to find or propose solutions for its prevention. Cause and Risk Factors of Childhood Obesity Did you know that overweight and obesity in children and adolescents is one of the faster-growing epidemics in the world, that it is not only related to excessive consumption of calories? Although childhood obesity is caused by eating more energy than it is burning, and it is associated with a dietary factor and sedentary lifestyle, exists others less known causes associated with genetic, psychological, family, sociocultural, socioeconomic and environmental factors that develop and increase the risk of the childhood obesity. As a global health concern, World Health Organization (WHO), classifies if a child is overweight or obese using body mass index (BMI) “systematic reviews have shown that the BMI (…) provides the best simple means of defining obesity in children and adolescents” (Really). BMI is a simple indicator of the relationship between weight and height that it is used to identify obesity in children and adults. It is calculating by dividing children’s weight in kilos by the square of their height in meters BMI = (kg) / Height² (m²). For instance, the WHO uses the BMI-for-age chart for boys for screening for overweight or obesity in the child. As it has shown in figure 1 and 2 respectively, the line labeled 0 on the growth chart is the median or the average. A child whose BMI-for-age is above line 3 is obese, above 2 is overweight and above 1shows the possible risk of overweight. Obesity is interpreted “as an excess of body fat” (Sahoo) because it is understood that the excess of weight is due to the growth of fat cells or the born of the new ones. According to the researchers the prevalence of pediatric obesity in the world has increased at an alarmed rate s from “2% to 6.7% in 2010” (Al-Agha), turning it as the most serious public health challenge of this time. Sales margin plays a crucial role in the corporate world as a compass that directs enterprises towards profitability. It is the discrepancy between a good or service's selling price and its production or acquisition costs. This margin shows a company's capacity to produce income in addition to how well it manages expenses.
