Today’s Session This presentation is a conversation on possible uses of mobile and web based digital technologies and is primarily intended as an opportunity, to identify and discuss with you, types of contemporary tools and spaces that might be appropriate in conducting your core business, in networking with colleagues and in your work with students.

Information & Communication Technologies is a:  Field of Study in its own right, with distinctive career pathways (one of the eight Learning Areas) …  General Capability- a tool to provide opportunities where safe and appropriate, to add depth and richness to student learning- create, connect, collaborate, share, learn …

The ICT General Capability “is a key dimension of the Australian Curriculum, and should be addressed in the content of the learning areas” (MCEETYA, 2008). … “it should underpin and inform our learning and teaching and should be explicit and clearly identified within the learning areas (ACARA, 2011). Australian Curriculum: ICT General Capability The Melbourne Declaration on the Educational Goals for Young Australians “students need the knowledge, skills and confidence to make ICT work for them at school, at home, at work and in their communities” (MCEETYA, 2008) . The Australian Curriculum The ICT General Capability is, a key dimension of the Australian Curriculum and plays a significant role in realising the goals set out in the Melbourne Declaration “that all young people in Australia should be supported to become successful learners, confident and creative individuals, and active and informed”. ACARA It is the responsibility of all teachers, to assist students to develop the ICT capability as a foundation for their future learning, growth and active participation in the Australian community”.
