5. “I am pretty sure I exclaimed ‘this is amazing!’
out loud as soon as I discovered BHL, and I
immediately bookmarked it in my browser. As a
non-profit society, CNPS doesn’t have sufficient
funds to subscribe to online journal databases.
BHL helps fill this void by providing such
resources freely to the public.”

7. Early Land Plants and the Global Strategy for
Plant Conservation
”…BHL has had a fundamental impact to our work and greatly
accelerated our research efforts. BHL has saved us, literally,
months and months of total hours of labour-intensive work. At
the peak of when we were researching for the checklist, we
would access BHL dozens of times a day.”

14. Rejuvenating Centuries’ Old Botany with
Phytogeography
"I feel [BHL] is just one step in the full digitization and
semantic annotation of biodiversity literature. I'd like to be able
to add annotations [to BHL]. [The ability to] search by location
name and taxon name would be useful, even if the location
names were only countries. It might [also] be useful to have
the ability to add internal links within BHL to connect citations
within one document to their source in BHL.”

Research Assistant
