2. Ghana Fishing is a significant economic activity in Ghana. The fisheries sector supports an estimated two million people, representing 10 per cent of the country’s population of about 23 million and contributes 4.5 per cent of Ghana’s GDP. There is a ready market for all types and sizes of fish in Ghana. However due to heavy fishing in offshore waters , and illegal inshore fishing by larger trawlers, fish stocks both offshore and inshore are decreasing and the inshore fishing is severely threatened.
3. Alaska Many of Alaska's coastal communities, rich with vibrant histories and diverse cultures and economies, face an uncertain future. and other resource development. As government spending declines, the role of the private economy becomes more important, specially in terms of fishing. These fisheries are key to local success and growth. The society needs to understand the value of fishing to the community and the changes that this area is bound to go through.
8. Conservation methods Main goal: If fisheries are properly conserved, they may be able to renew themselves for long periods of time (related with the sustainable yield)
9. Personal Viewpoints In each of these societies where fisheries are essential in their survival, the conservation values and methods are key to help these societies grow. Ghana, being a developing country, still needs to use these resources in order for them to grow. If the growth was managed and the conservation methods used helped the environment, the environmental values can be conserved and protected.
