2. The Theme The theme of this book is violence is never the answer. If they did not use violence on each other than no one would have died. The boys would have been able to survive better and not fight or split up like they did as time went on, on the island.
3. Quotes Pg 135- this shows how savage violence can become. “The spear moved forward inch by inch and the terrifying squealing became a high pitched scream. Then Jack found the throat and the hot blood spouted over his hands.”
4. Quotes Pg 180- This led to the death of Piggy. The rock went down the mountainside and hit Piggy. “Roger with a sense of delirious abandonment. Leaned all his weight on the lever, and the rock tumbled down the mountainside.”
5. Quotes Pg 181-This is what violence caused. Violence does not solve problems. This is a consequence that a kid had to his head and you can infer what this means. “His head opened and stuff came out and turned red.”
6. Quotes Pg 130- This is when Ralph killed a pig. Ralph threw. a spear and the spear went right into the pigs head. As you can see, violence makes this kid happy, but is hurts an innocent pig in the process. “I hit him, the spear stuck in!”
7. Conclusion As you can see, violence lead to no good and obviously not the answer and as a result in most of these occurrences a kid dies or the pig dies. The happiness brought by violence clearly does not outmatch the consequences thereafter.
