2. Origins
The Army, Navy, and Marine Corps were
established in 1775, after the American
Revolution.
The War Department was set in 1789,
and was the precursor to what is now the
Department of Defense.
The three military branches, Army, Navy,
and Air Force, were placed under the
direct control of the new Secretary of
Defense in 1949, confirmed by Senate.
3. In 1949, an amendment to the
National Security Act consolidated the
national defense structure by
withdrawing cabinet-level status from
the three Service secretaries.
The National Military Establishment
was then renamed the Department of
Defense.
4. Structure
Has control over all of the following
and is headed by the Secretary of
Defense, Robert M. Gates.
The Department of Defense is divided
between the Department of The Army,
The Department of the Navy, and the
Department of The Air Force.
5. Department of The Army
The Department of The Army controls
all landbound troops.
It is headed by the joint chief of staff of
the army.
Divide between The Army reserve and
The Army National Guard.
6.
7. The Army Reserve
has more than 2000 units in the united
states, Guam, the Virgin Islands,
Puerto Rico and Germany. This units
are set and ready to serve the US in
case of an emergency.
8. The Army National Guard
civillians who are trained but only work on a
part-time basis; one weekend every month
and two wekends in the summer.
Every state has a National Guard as required
by the constitutions.
They are only called on emergencies
pertinent to the state or a lesser area in
problems such as storms, fires, earthquakes
or civil disturbances.
They can also be asked by the president to
participate on federal missions like being sent
to the middle-east for the war on terrorism.
9. The Department of The Navy
This branche’s job is very simple, they
have to train people to fight on sea,
and also mantain peace in
international waters.
The Department of the Navy is divided
between The Shore Establishment
and The Operating Forces.
10.
11. The Shore Establishment
is, as it name suggests, staged on
land. They provide technical support
to the fleet, which is out on water.
12. The Operating forces
is what controls the “acting” side of the
Navy. They are the ones who order
ships to deploy and send support to
fleets staitioned on the sea.
13. The Department of The Air
Force
Their main job is to mantain air
superiority, attack if needed, and
defend the country from airbound
attacks.
This is the most recent of all the
divisions, hence it is not as developed
as the other ones.
14.
15. Currently; end of war in Iraq
• The Soldiers of Delta Detachment are
preparing for their upcoming deployment to
Kuwait to provide financial support for
Soldiers assigned to Operation New Dawn
(Operation Iraqi Freedom)
• U.S. troops’ role in securing the country will
be reduced as troop levels fall and the U.S.
military's combat role in Iraq draws to a
close.
• For the majority of the Soldiers in Delta Det.,
this will be their first deployment.
16. Sgt. 1st Class Charles Moten, the
noncommissioned officer in the charge of
Delta Det, appointed the young soldiers
being deployed with some words.
“I hope that they all grow, that they learn. This
actually gives them the opportunity to learn
their jobs and become proficient in their craft.
The Soldiers who stand before us are an
incredible asset to the Army. Few in numbers,
they accomplish great things on and off the
battlefield”
The total detachment of Troops is to be
scheduled after a year.
