Guarantee for the
Greenfield Central High School
FOOTBALL PROGRAM
My guarantee for the Greenfield Central football program is one of building a program full
of pride and tradition within the team, respect from the community, and fear in all 5-A
football. In order to reach this guarantee we must first increase the number of young men
that come out to play the game and then teach them how to win consistently. Next we
must have common goals for the program to achieve, such as finishing the season above a
.500 percentage, winning the conference title, and advancing in the state tournament. My
guarantee to Greenfield Central is to build a program that not only Greenfield Central High
School can be proud of but the Greenfield Central community as a whole and to do what
we need to do to win the titles. Finally we must have all those involved with Greenfield
Central High School football working together toward the team vision. Here is what each
level needs to contribute to build a consistent program.
A) Junior High
1. Provide for the junior high coaches clinics that will help prepare them for their seasons
2. Set the junior high coaches up with our system so that they prepare the young student-
athletes for the high school game.
3. Set in place a study table program at all the feeder programs so that we can get a jump on
the student’s grades.
4. Have in place junior high summer camps for the feeder school
B) High School
1. Continue to build excitement about the football program
2. Provide a resourceful area for the young men to study and grow
3. Provide weight-training classes for all athletes to participate in during the school year
4. Gain support from the community by displaying respectful young men on and off the
playing field
5. Coaches and players are 100% committed to football during the season
6. Expect to win all games
7. Expect to defeat the schools our size that we play
8. Use the regular season to prepare for the play-offs
9. Create a conference wide lift-off during the off season
10. Use every resource that is available to begin fund raising.
C) Administration/Community
1. Want a first class football program
2. Provide all means possible to myself and my staff to reach the level of first class
3. Demand excellence from the coaches, players, and the school
4. Always feel welcome to discuss any concerns or suggestions that you have as an
administrative team or community with me, as the head coach, or the way I run your
football program.
5. Allow us to place Greenfield Central High School on the map as we win games and post high
graduation numbers.
GREENFIELD CENTRAL PLAYER RECRUITMENT
The key to our program’s success is recruiting our athletes. Our efforts must be diligent in nature to let ALL quality
Greenfield Central young men know that we want them attending Greenfield Central High School and playing football with
us. The players of Greenfield Central High School must become UNTOUCHABLE to all prospective recruiters in the city.
Our recruiting program is divided into three categories: immediate recruiting, short-term recruiting, and long-term

COACHING PHILOSOPHY
I am a disciple of the traditional values of loyalty, hard work, discipline and respect. My belief is that the young
people of today should not only be exposed to these ideals, but should live them. These values will form the core
of our program. I believe that we must adapt to changing times with these unchanging principles. Each player will
be treated with equality and respect. There will be no favorites and no political agendas followed. In turn, each
player will be expected to show the utmost respect for teachers, coaches and fellow teammates. In order for any
program to be successful each member must strive for the same goals. The general aim of the interscholastic
football program is to contribute insofar as possible, to the general objectives of education. An athletic program
has little chance to succeed unless the following are adhered to:
 Coaches should be educators. The job of coach is to teach football in a manner that is stimulating and
challenging to the participant.
 As a head football coach, I will have a definite plan in which I believe in.
 The program must have an open line of communication with the administration, faculty and all facets of the
school system.
 Develop a sense of pride and character. These two things have won more battles than can be counted.
 To encourage sportsmanship at all times. To accept both victory and defeat with class and humility.
 The head coach must have input and responsibility to select his staff of dedicated men, who must believe in
the head coach and his plan.
 The head coach must have input to select and coordinate coaches at the feeder program and see that the
coaches adhere to the philosophy of the program. The future of any program lies in the success of the lower
programs. “Winning Breeds Winning” at any level.
 The coach must organize the program to operate things at maximum efficiency.
 We must work the process. Never allow the process to be over looked in good or bad times.
Coaches must be trainers, not jockeys. Anyone can ride a good horse. We must be able to take the average horse
and make him better. I’ve heard coaches whine about how poor their talent is. Very few of us are blessed with
kids who are naturals. Kids give you exactly what you expect of them, nothing more and nothing less. If you
expect them to be a good player for you, then they will be. You have to roll up your sleeves, put in the time and
coach them how you want them to play.
We will be a physical, relentless football team. Our practice sessions will be tougher than our games in order for
our young men to succeed. We will leave no stone unturned. As much as possible, we will prepare the athlete for
every possible situation they might encounter in the course of a game. We believe that you play as you practice. If
a team practices hard, it will play hard and conversely if it practices soft, it will play soft. If a young man does not
hit or perform a fundamental or technique in practice, he will not do it in a game. Greenfield Central will be
known as the hardest hitting and hardest working team in Indiana.
COACH’S PHILOSOPHY
Staff Bible Verse: Proverbs 27:17-“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens
another.”
Dedication + Anticipation + Preparation = Success
Pray, Believe, Work, and Stay, Together!
Be loyal, hard working, and professional. We are building something special! Be loyal
to each other, the players, and the program. Our program requires a year round
commitment which includes summertime weightlifting/conditioning, high school, and
youth camps. You will receive little or no compensation during the summer. We are
asking our players to make sacrifices, so should we. It is about building relationships!!
We need to put the time in to earn our player’s respect and trust! We need to put the
time in to build a championship level program! We do not want to let our players,
school, and community down!
-Get the most out of our player’s character and talent. Coach the bad ones! It’s easy to
coach the good ones. The key to a successful program is to ‘develop’ players.
Remember, we are coaches, teachers, psychologists, leaders, role models,
disciplinarians, counselors, and sometimes a parent substitute! Remember also- We
are coaching somebody’s son! Coach our players how we would want our own sons to
be coached.
-Promote the priorities of our program: Faith-Family-Academics-Football, in that order!
-Promote the value of training rules. Be able to talk with our players about the dangers
of alcohol, drugs, and sex.
-Promote the value of our strength and conditioning program.
-Promote other sports. Studies have shown that keeping young men involved in
athletics will decrease significantly the chance of them getting involved with drugs and
alcohol as well as increase their performance in the classroom.
-Be tireless as workers but always remember to have fun! Fun is being good at
something.

Athletic Experiences/Honors & Certifications
Throughout my high school career at Arsenal Tech High School in Indianapolis, IN I played on the varsity level of
athletics in Football and Track and Golf from my sophomore year throughout senior year. Our football team
competed every season and I was a key contributor to our success throughout my seasons as a Titan. However,
we never made the state tournament and in those years and didn’t make it past the 1st
round of the playoffs.
As the Head Track Coach, I lead the Arsenal Tech Track program to new heights as we won the conference in
back to back seasons and place 2nd
in the City.
CPR Certification, First Aid Certification as of 2013 through the Indiana Red Cross in Indianapolis, IN.
Throughout high school I was also a member of Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Indianapolis boys club.
As a head coach I have been blessed to work with some special young men. Together we got Arsenal Tech from
a 4 year losing record to its first winning season in 20 years. We had a mark of 7-4. I was selected by the
Indianapolis Colts as Coach of the Week and All conference coach of the year.
In 2010 I left Indiana and took a Teaching and Coaching Job in Allentown, Pa where I was blessed to not only to
put the inner city school on the map but we also won the Lehigh Valley Award for Sportsmanship an award that
the school had never had before. As well as being competitive on the playing field for the first time in 19
years….. North Vermillion, a school that also went 20 years without a winning record not only won under my
guidance but we were Indiana IHSAA Sectional 38 2011 Champions and Regional runner-ups. The following
year as a defensive specialist I helped Pike high school to win its second sectional championship ever in 2012.
In 2013 I joined the staff at Ripple as the Associate head coach and a record of 5-5. At the present I am the
Head Track and Field coach for Pike High School and on the quest to bring them a state title in track….

GREENFIELD CENTRAL COACHING GUIDELINES
Coach Lloyd’s approach to coaching:
 Be yourself.
 Be consistent.
 Know where you belong, be waiting for players.
 Utilize time before and after practice sessions.
 Stay alert for players with injuries or heat problems. Refer to trainer.
 Strive to make your group the best on the field.
 Accept nothing less than perfect effort.
 Be fair.
 Be available.
 Know your players’ abilities:
- Physical
- Mental
- Temperament
- Personality
 Care for your players. Show you care about them beyond their football ability.
 Explanation, tell them why. Demonstration, show them why. Be repetitive.
 Know your coaching responsibilities.
 Breed confidence into our team.
 Work with every young man that comes on the field. Do not allow them to go unnoticed!
 Our practices must be tough and physical; don’t hold a clinic on the field. Extensive talk is for meetings/chalk talks.
APPROACH TO DRILLS:
As a coach we make our greatest contribution in the construction, planning and administering of drills. More important
than what system of offense or defense we run, is how we teach our style of football. Drills should:
 Cover considerable ground in a short period of time.
 Be progressive in nature.
 Be well planned and administered.
 Be known by name to the players so that they do not require re-explanation after the first two or three times the drill
has been run.
The preparation for drills must be made in full detail before hitting the practice field. The coach should see that these are
prepared in advance, including necessary equipment such as balls, cones, dummies, etc. Have equipment in the group
area to save precious practice time.
BASIC TYPES OF DRILLS:
 Fundamental Drills: To teach all the skills of blocking, tackling, stance, etc.
 Reaction Drills: Primarily for developing quickness, balance and agility.
These should be included briefly in almost every practice.
 Conditioning Drills: Once the season has begun, these will be almost entirely
running drills.
 Contact Drills: The primary purpose here is to develop and encourage the desire and ability to utilize the physical
contact aspect required of the game of football. These will be used only to the extent so as not to dull the desire for
further physical contact.
 Fun Drills: Used to lighten the practice load late in the season or as a morale booster.

  • 4. Guarantee for the Greenfield Central High School FOOTBALL PROGRAM My guarantee for the Greenfield Central football program is one of building a program full of pride and tradition within the team, respect from the community, and fear in all 5-A football. In order to reach this guarantee we must first increase the number of young men that come out to play the game and then teach them how to win consistently. Next we must have common goals for the program to achieve, such as finishing the season above a .500 percentage, winning the conference title, and advancing in the state tournament. My guarantee to Greenfield Central is to build a program that not only Greenfield Central High School can be proud of but the Greenfield Central community as a whole and to do what we need to do to win the titles. Finally we must have all those involved with Greenfield Central High School football working together toward the team vision. Here is what each level needs to contribute to build a consistent program. A) Junior High 1. Provide for the junior high coaches clinics that will help prepare them for their seasons 2. Set the junior high coaches up with our system so that they prepare the young student- athletes for the high school game. 3. Set in place a study table program at all the feeder programs so that we can get a jump on the student’s grades. 4. Have in place junior high summer camps for the feeder school B) High School 1. Continue to build excitement about the football program 2. Provide a resourceful area for the young men to study and grow 3. Provide weight-training classes for all athletes to participate in during the school year 4. Gain support from the community by displaying respectful young men on and off the playing field 5. Coaches and players are 100% committed to football during the season 6. Expect to win all games 7. Expect to defeat the schools our size that we play 8. Use the regular season to prepare for the play-offs 9. Create a conference wide lift-off during the off season 10. Use every resource that is available to begin fund raising. C) Administration/Community 1. Want a first class football program 2. Provide all means possible to myself and my staff to reach the level of first class 3. Demand excellence from the coaches, players, and the school 4. Always feel welcome to discuss any concerns or suggestions that you have as an administrative team or community with me, as the head coach, or the way I run your football program. 5. Allow us to place Greenfield Central High School on the map as we win games and post high graduation numbers.
  • 5. GREENFIELD CENTRAL PLAYER RECRUITMENT The key to our program’s success is recruiting our athletes. Our efforts must be diligent in nature to let ALL quality Greenfield Central young men know that we want them attending Greenfield Central High School and playing football with us. The players of Greenfield Central High School must become UNTOUCHABLE to all prospective recruiters in the city. Our recruiting program is divided into three categories: immediate recruiting, short-term recruiting, and long-term recruiting. The following is our breakdown to help us build a consistent and solid foundation: Immediate Recruiting: (Returning Players/On Campus Students)  Individual interviews  Strength & Conditioning program  Team meetings  Athletes in other sports (Basketball/Track/Wrestling specifically)  Football players as recruiters (peer pressure/program promotion)  Correspondence Short-Term Recruiting: (Middle School Athletes)  Greenfield Central Eighth Grade Program (We will form)  Youth league/Pop Warner/Dad’s Club  CYO League  Middle School Flag Program  Jr. High Camp  Jr. High Coaches Clinics  Special Game Nights  Halftime Scrimmages  ‘Ball boy for a game’, ‘Recruits of the Week’, Varsity sidelines, etc.  Attendance at football practices/games  Attendance at basketball, wrestling, track, baseball games/practices  Correspondence: recruit letters, ‘attaboy’, etc.  Team apparel  Game passes  Newsletters  Team web site (team recognition)  Coaching/parental contacts, School P.E. teachers Long-Term Recruiting: (Grade School Students) (Dad’s Club) Youth Leagues.  Future Camp  YMCA Flag Program (if applicable)  Basketball, Jr. wrestling, baseball leagues  Attendance at events  Correspondence  Game passes  Coaching/parental contacts

  • 7. COACHING PHILOSOPHY I am a disciple of the traditional values of loyalty, hard work, discipline and respect. My belief is that the young people of today should not only be exposed to these ideals, but should live them. These values will form the core of our program. I believe that we must adapt to changing times with these unchanging principles. Each player will be treated with equality and respect. There will be no favorites and no political agendas followed. In turn, each player will be expected to show the utmost respect for teachers, coaches and fellow teammates. In order for any program to be successful each member must strive for the same goals. The general aim of the interscholastic football program is to contribute insofar as possible, to the general objectives of education. An athletic program has little chance to succeed unless the following are adhered to:  Coaches should be educators. The job of coach is to teach football in a manner that is stimulating and challenging to the participant.  As a head football coach, I will have a definite plan in which I believe in.  The program must have an open line of communication with the administration, faculty and all facets of the school system.  Develop a sense of pride and character. These two things have won more battles than can be counted.  To encourage sportsmanship at all times. To accept both victory and defeat with class and humility.  The head coach must have input and responsibility to select his staff of dedicated men, who must believe in the head coach and his plan.  The head coach must have input to select and coordinate coaches at the feeder program and see that the coaches adhere to the philosophy of the program. The future of any program lies in the success of the lower programs. “Winning Breeds Winning” at any level.  The coach must organize the program to operate things at maximum efficiency.  We must work the process. Never allow the process to be over looked in good or bad times. Coaches must be trainers, not jockeys. Anyone can ride a good horse. We must be able to take the average horse and make him better. I’ve heard coaches whine about how poor their talent is. Very few of us are blessed with kids who are naturals. Kids give you exactly what you expect of them, nothing more and nothing less. If you expect them to be a good player for you, then they will be. You have to roll up your sleeves, put in the time and coach them how you want them to play. We will be a physical, relentless football team. Our practice sessions will be tougher than our games in order for our young men to succeed. We will leave no stone unturned. As much as possible, we will prepare the athlete for every possible situation they might encounter in the course of a game. We believe that you play as you practice. If a team practices hard, it will play hard and conversely if it practices soft, it will play soft. If a young man does not hit or perform a fundamental or technique in practice, he will not do it in a game. Greenfield Central will be known as the hardest hitting and hardest working team in Indiana.
  • 8. COACH’S PHILOSOPHY Staff Bible Verse: Proverbs 27:17-“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” Dedication + Anticipation + Preparation = Success Pray, Believe, Work, and Stay, Together! Be loyal, hard working, and professional. We are building something special! Be loyal to each other, the players, and the program. Our program requires a year round commitment which includes summertime weightlifting/conditioning, high school, and youth camps. You will receive little or no compensation during the summer. We are asking our players to make sacrifices, so should we. It is about building relationships!! We need to put the time in to earn our player’s respect and trust! We need to put the time in to build a championship level program! We do not want to let our players, school, and community down! -Get the most out of our player’s character and talent. Coach the bad ones! It’s easy to coach the good ones. The key to a successful program is to ‘develop’ players. Remember, we are coaches, teachers, psychologists, leaders, role models, disciplinarians, counselors, and sometimes a parent substitute! Remember also- We are coaching somebody’s son! Coach our players how we would want our own sons to be coached. -Promote the priorities of our program: Faith-Family-Academics-Football, in that order! -Promote the value of training rules. Be able to talk with our players about the dangers of alcohol, drugs, and sex. -Promote the value of our strength and conditioning program. -Promote other sports. Studies have shown that keeping young men involved in athletics will decrease significantly the chance of them getting involved with drugs and alcohol as well as increase their performance in the classroom. -Be tireless as workers but always remember to have fun! Fun is being good at something.

  • 12. Athletic Experiences/Honors & Certifications Throughout my high school career at Arsenal Tech High School in Indianapolis, IN I played on the varsity level of athletics in Football and Track and Golf from my sophomore year throughout senior year. Our football team competed every season and I was a key contributor to our success throughout my seasons as a Titan. However, we never made the state tournament and in those years and didn’t make it past the 1st round of the playoffs. As the Head Track Coach, I lead the Arsenal Tech Track program to new heights as we won the conference in back to back seasons and place 2nd in the City. CPR Certification, First Aid Certification as of 2013 through the Indiana Red Cross in Indianapolis, IN. Throughout high school I was also a member of Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Indianapolis boys club. As a head coach I have been blessed to work with some special young men. Together we got Arsenal Tech from a 4 year losing record to its first winning season in 20 years. We had a mark of 7-4. I was selected by the Indianapolis Colts as Coach of the Week and All conference coach of the year. In 2010 I left Indiana and took a Teaching and Coaching Job in Allentown, Pa where I was blessed to not only to put the inner city school on the map but we also won the Lehigh Valley Award for Sportsmanship an award that the school had never had before. As well as being competitive on the playing field for the first time in 19 years….. North Vermillion, a school that also went 20 years without a winning record not only won under my guidance but we were Indiana IHSAA Sectional 38 2011 Champions and Regional runner-ups. The following year as a defensive specialist I helped Pike high school to win its second sectional championship ever in 2012. In 2013 I joined the staff at Ripple as the Associate head coach and a record of 5-5. At the present I am the Head Track and Field coach for Pike High School and on the quest to bring them a state title in track…. 7

  • 16. GREENFIELD CENTRAL COACHING GUIDELINES Coach Lloyd’s approach to coaching:  Be yourself.  Know your players’ abilities: - Physical - Mental - Temperament - Personality  Care for your players. APPROACH TO DRILLS: As a coach we make our greatest contribution in the construction, planning and administering of drills. More important than what system of offense or defense we run, is how we teach our style of football. Drills should:  Cover considerable ground in a short period of time.  Be progressive in nature.  Be well planned and administered.  Be known by name to the players so that they do not require re-explanation after the first two or three times the drill has been run. The preparation for drills must be made in full detail before hitting the practice field. The coach should see that these are prepared in advance, including necessary equipment such as balls, cones, dummies, etc. Have equipment in the group area to save precious practice time. BASIC TYPES OF DRILLS:  Fundamental Drills: To teach all the skills of blocking, tackling, stance, etc.  Reaction Drills: Primarily for developing quickness, balance and agility. These should be included briefly in almost every practice.  Conditioning Drills: Once the season has begun, these will be almost entirely running drills.  Contact Drills: The primary purpose here is to develop and encourage the desire and ability to utilize the physical contact aspect required of the game of football. These will be used only to the extent so as not to dull the desire for further physical contact.  Fun Drills: Used to lighten the practice load late in the season or as a morale booster.
