External Staff Request<br />Job Description<br />Application Engineer Capital Markets <br />1. Context of the mission<br />Capital Markets IT Production is the METAMORF) branch in charge of managing the entire Capital Markets production environment in close collaboration with the Development teams and the Business.<br />Systems are used within several dealing rooms by Traders, Sales dealers and Back-Office around the<br />world to perform front-office functions such as pricing or position keeping, as well as back-office<br />processes and risk management. Our business users’ domains include Foreign Exchange, Treasury &<br />Fixed-Income markets, as well as, Equity, Commodities & Derivatives markets.<br />Our team, CM APS part of the strong METAMORF in Brussels, is the IT Application Production & Support team . Application Engineers are responsible for managing the production environment and providing underlying components to enable future proof systems for Capital Markets.<br />Our applications are running on Sun and/or Wintel systems, with numerous interactions. We are<br />responsible for defining technical architecture, investigation and implementation of new technologies<br />(GRID, remote blade workstations, SOA) and delivering stable and performing applications for our<br />worldwide clients. We assure quality for Electronic Market Systems by our active responsibility for Test<br />& Release Management, defining DRP and SLA’s and capacity measurements.<br />2. Localisation of the job<br />Brussels (near Central Station)<br />Principal assignments Experience<br />Contributing to technical and/or functional knowledge of specific aspects of applications/environments/processes<br />Building application, software, infrastructure or technical architecture<br />Contributing his/her expertise on specific issues (application architecture planning, etc.)<br />At least 12 years of experience<br />Acknowledged technical and/or functional expertise in the area under consideration<br />Intervening on an ad hoc basis<br />5. You can organise your tasks with a high quality mindset.<br />Business experience required<br />Mandatory: -<br />Preferable: -<br />Technical experience required -<br />Mandatory: - You have professional experience with application setup and maintenance; you have experience with interface developments and with scripting<br />- You have an excellent understanding of the Windows and/or Unix operating systems<br />Preferable: - You are capable troubleshooting applications with your network knowledge.<br />- You are familiar with Enterprise Application Integration solutions and have already experienced<br />projects where systems interoperability is a key component to serve Business needs.<br />- You hold competences in one - or more - of these fields: J2EE, .NET, SOA XML/SOAP protocols,<br />Websphere/MQ series EAI tools, Oracle.<br />6. Objective of the job<br />As an Application Engineer you will be working on the (technical) Architecture & Technology for<br />Capital Market activities. You will work on projects to implement in-house developed or package-based<br />applications in METAMORF environment. This includes technical setup (combinations of Windows, Unix, DB, MQ, Java, .NET etc.) of these packages, fine-tuning (think of performance, security roles), and assisting in the validation phase. You work solution-oriented. Another important aspect of your job is to set up active application monitoring and fine-tuning for applications in production (think of pro-active alerting, performance and capacity measurements and reporting).<br />You will be part of the Application Engineering team consisting of other specialists.<br />As our systems serve our world wide clients, our solutions have to work for all of them, so our mindset is<br />world-wide. Therefore, an Application Engineer also acts as “guardian” of quality, of course supported by<br />our quality manager and project leaders.<br />
