OBJECTIVES:
To provide in-depth treatment on methods and techniques in
 Linear Equations , Matrix Algebra and Vector Spaces,
 The Laplace Transform, The Fourier Transform and Z Transform,
 Digital Arithmetic, Multidimensional Transforms and Wavelet Transform
Module 1 Linear Algebra
Linear Equations and Matrix Algebra:
Fields; systemof linear equations,and its solution sets; elementary row operations and echelon forms;
matrix operations; invertible matrices, LU-factorization.
Vector Spaces:
Vector spaces; subspaces; bases; dimension; coordinates

Module 2 Transforms and Digital Representations
Signals and Systems:
Linear Time Invariant Systems, The Laplace Transform, Properties, The Fourier Transform, Properties of
Fourier Transform, Fourier Transform of Sequence(Fourier Series) and its properties, Fourier Analysis for
Continuous and Discrete Time Signals. Z Transform and its properties.
Digital Arithmetic:
Fixed and Floating point representation,IEEE 754 Floating point standards,Floating point arithmetic

Introduction, 2D orthogonal& unitary transforms, Properties of unitary transforms, 1D and 2D- DFT,
DCT, Walsh, Hadamard Transform, Haar Transform, Slant Transform, KLT, SVD Transform

Internal Continuous Assessment: 50 marks
Internal continuous assessment is in the form of periodical tests, assignments, seminars or a combination of all whichever su its best.
There will be a minimum of two tests per subject. The assessment details are to be announced to the students, right at th e beginning
of the semester by the teacher.
End Semester Examination: 50 marks
Question Pattern:
