3. Flag
• Denotation- The U.K flag,
cloth, memorable colours.
• Connotation- A fallen
empire, a shadow of its
former self. Countries
united together.
4. Gun
• Denotation- weapon,
metal, bullets, defence and
dangerous.
• Connotation- lethal force,
death, war, bloodshed and
humanity.
5. Colour: The use of colour in this poster is very dulled
and cold. The use of bright red for call of the dead
represents blood but also is eye catching. The zombies
on the bottom of the poster with bright yellow and
orange eyes makes them more distinctive compared to
the cliché versions.
Props: like the guns used by the survivors, and
accessories like hats glasses bandanas. Are used in this
poster like for the director he still wears his glasses. And
the guns for the survivors are very easy to spot.
Location: The use of colour and background helps us
narrow down where this location is. The dark blue and
ice shards at the sides helps us know that this is pretty
far north or in the antarctic. The lighthouse also tells us
that this is by the sea and there could of possibly been a
ship crash, or a use of a wrecked ship in the game.
Actor/Model: The lead zombie and the 4 actors are
real people who are doing what they normally do in
movies, acting until zombies are unleashed and
everyone dies exept the four actors. The director is
George A. Romero, and the actors are. Danny Trejo,
Sarah Michelle Geller, Robert Englund and Michael
Rooker. Each actor keeps their identity through out the
game and trailer.
6. Colour: the use of colour in this poster is eye catching
as the main colours represent the French flag and makes
sense because this takes place during the French
revolution. And the black of the assassins makes them
known but their identity hidden from view this helps
them against the monarchy in the game.
Props: The use of the guliteen in the background
shows what era it is, and the use of the eagle in this
group. The eagle is a huge symbol for the brotherhood.
The weapons like swords, axes and guns are seen used
by the assassins. These would be used to kill those who
appose them. The pile of rubble that they stand on is
also made of props like barrels and carts, evidence of a
fight or brawl.
Location: The location is odvious by the colour
layout and the order of the French flag covering most of
the poster. And the birth place of the guliteen is Paris.
Actor/Model: The actor Dan Jeannotte who plays
Arno the main character you play as. Most of the other
actors have small parts but the assassin in the white area
of the flag is Arno and the other assassins are the
multiplayer characters if you play with your friends.
7. Color: This poster has a very distinctive color radius and
makes it more dynamic. With the black of Kong and the rising
sun it makes the poster more epic and very diverse to the
previous Kong movies and it has a Vietnam war theme with the
helicopters and use of music in the movie.
Props: The props used in this poster is the helicopters and
the weapons used by the soldiers on the ground the rest is
basically CGI.
Location: This location could be real or it could be CGI like
Kong but there are actual places that look a lot like this in the
Philippines and south Asia, so they could of taken this picture
while filming for the movie poster or they have really good
special effects. But yet it is an epic and cool poster for a movie
especially with the silent water trembling at Kong or the
soldiers.
Actors/model: The main actors that are important is Tom
Huddleston, Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson and John
Goodman these actors are all more popular or famous because
of this movie.
8. Soundtrack
• Clip 1- This was a drama and tension
building theme of music. Like a thriller or
drama TV show or movie. Its very cliché
music in drama or horror genres. This could
suggest that the couple are in danger or one
of them has done something the other
wouldn’t expect or imagine.
• Clip 2- Was very peacful and contempt
compared to the first one. Most would say
it’s a romance theme. And I reckon it could
be a romance christmas theme. This could
suggest that the characters love each other
and end out going out or get married
9. Shining
• The way that the trailer has been put together to make it a
comedic and romantic movie. Plus the scenes with the dad
and kid makes it more of a family friendly movie. So family’s
can watch together and enjoy each other’s company. The
sound and music is simple and peaceful but with a slight
dramatic drop with the writer being told he cant get funding
anymore.
• The romantic side of the story is with the writer and the boys
mother. This could be the reason why he gets better towards
the end as he has his new family to write about.
10. Scary Mary
• Scary Mary is an edited version of Mary Poppins but
to make the impression as horror and scary. I
absolutely loved this edit as it turned a classic heart
warming story into a frightening horror in a few
seconds with editing and sound effects. The use of
tinting the screen so its darker and more disturbing.
It has a unique effect on people as it reminds us of
the classic family movie but it just turns to ash as we
remind ourselves of this classic movie. We are
instead reminded with nothing but misery.

14. Iconography- Western

with cactuses. And even bounties and
sheriffs office.
15. Iconography- Sci-Fi
Sci-Fi is all about aliens and the
future, technology, life on planets,
time travel, alternate realities.
16. Iconography- Fantasy
Fantasy is still fiction but isn’t about spaceships
and space battles. More the realm of fiction like medieval
times with swords and bows movies and tv shows like
lord of the rings, game of thrones and avatar. These products are all good examples of fantasy.
17. Narrative
• Narrative Definition- when someone talks over a show or movie explaining
everything but in a poetic way, sometimes with rhyme.
• Linear Narrative Definition- Linear narratives present stories in a logical manner by
telling what happens from one point in time to the next without using flashbacks
or flash-forwards and then returning to the present.
• Linear Narrative Film Example- star wars movies they are always in the same time
and never skips ahead.
• Non-Linear Narrative Definition- A story not in order and can start with the ending.
But explained at the end of the movie so its better to understand.
•
• Non-Linear Narrative Film Example- pulp fiction as its never in order and starts
with the ending.
18. Clip Analysis
The clip of Kannan and Ezra vs Darth Vader has a lot of thing to analyse with the use of costume
and props.
• Costume – Darth Vader's costume is dark and is easy to identify in the daylight, but during the night he
would practically be invisible lurking in the shadows. The machine on his chest is easy to identify as his
breathing machine to keep him alive. His cape is also an important part of his costume as it is protection
from fire and acid supposedly to help the suit stay in tact. Kannan and Ezra's suits are both unique and
diverse that Kannan has armour plating and a mild colour instead of a dark or bright. Ezra’s outfit is
unusual as it is bright and very easy to spot in day and night.
• Dialogue – The dialogue used between Kannan and Vader is different compared to Vader and Ezra. As
Vader tries to make his opponents‘ see the reality and that he could kill them all there and then. And that
he is toying with them. He spreads disappointment throughout the scene for Ezra signifying that he is to
argent to become a Jedi and that he has been deceived. By using this this aggravates Kannan.
• Props – the main props used is the lightsabres, which have colour symbolism as Kannan and Ezra has blue
a light and good colour, whereas Vader has red signifying blood, death and evil.
• Lighting – the use of darkness around Vader is used consistently to remind us that he is evil compared to
the others who have the light of a moon behind them.
• Music - The music is dark and low when Vader is introduced compared to the music used before with the
crew loading the cargo. Its deep and dramatic when Vader rises after being crushed.
